Selected User Reviews For Niles Endnote 8.0 for Students Only (Mac)
I assumed EndNote 8 was the next version after 7X when I purchased it. It should never have been sold because it is an extremely outdated version that will not work on a MacBook Air, Pro, or IMAC. Because it had been opened, the seller will not accept it back. I'm a student, and this cost me money that I didn't have, so I'll never buy from them again.
6) Thomson ResearchSoft's ([. ]) ([. ]) ([. ]) ([. ]) Endnote 8 for the Apple Macintosh Computer is an outstanding piece of software for academic searching and downloading bibliographies from the Library of Congress and a variety of online college card catalogs. Bibliographies can be downloaded from the internet and formatted in a variety of academic bibliographic styles automatically. br>br>References can be directly exported from ISI Web of Science, Highwire Press, Ovid, OCLC, ProQuest, and other databases. Endnote bibliographic data can also be entered directly into a template record by simply filling out the appropriate fields for the type of reference displayed. There are 37 different reference types to choose from, each with up to 52 fields to fill in with relevant reference and image data. When images of charts, figures, and equations are added as a citation to an academic paper, they can be cataloged and entered into a bibliographic data base for later retrieval. br>br>For each bibliographic entry, there is a field for entering notes and abstract information after you have physically retrieved the books and periodicals from a library. After you've finished entering information into the bibliographic database, print it out and cut each individual bibliographic entry with scissors, arranging them according to the outline of your academic paper. Physically writing the paper becomes more organized as a result, and citations can be easily inserted directly into your word processor from Endnote. Microsoft Word for Mac (2004) is the best word processor for Endnote 8 because it allows you to insert citations directly into your paper as you type. Although, if the writing is converted to RTF (Rich Text Format) before citation insertion, other word processors can be used. br>br>The 586-page Endnote manual that comes with the installation CD is well-written and provides a good starting point for learning how to use Endnote 8. Endnote 8 performed admirably on my Macintosh iMac G5 (Mac OS 10. 6). 7) computer, and it appears to have been rewritten from the ground up to be intuitive and simple to use with Mac OS 10. Endnote 8 for the Mac will save you time and headaches if academic research writing is a must for you. It's also a must-read for any senior high school student planning to go to college.
Purchase something, and do so immediately- This software will help you save time and effort, and it will do so effectively. The cite-as-you-go technique is a technique that allows you to cite something while you' You can almost forget about the time-consuming citations when you use the write feature, and concentrate on your work instead. Endnote also lets you connect to a variety of databases to have your citations automatically entered if they're available (which they usually are, thanks to Pubmed and various school library catalogs). If they aren't available, you'll have to manually enter the citation into Endnote. br>br>The three-star rating is based on a comparison of this software to other software I've used, not to no software (you should have something if you frequently write papers with references). In fact, I've mostly used Endnote 7 student for PC, and I'd give it five stars. br>br>Because of a bug I encountered, I had to give it a lower rating. Unless I also open Endnote, Microsoft Word freezes when I open a file with citations. I'm not sure if this is due to the configuration of my computer or if it's a widespread issue. I've lost work several times because of this bug, which occurs when you open a file without also opening Endnote. br>br>In conclusion, this is a fantastic program with numerous benefits. The convenience is diminished if you run into a bug. Best wishes to you.
br>br>I bought a copy for Windows, but I recently switched to an Apple Mac environment. I would recommend this product to students who need to organize their article and make properly formatted citations on the fly. br>br>The database transition was simple, and the product works well with the Mac version of MS Office Word. br>br>I would recommend this product to students who need to organize their article and make properly formatted citations on the fly. br>br>.
