It was not a better year in 2004
3/5

The SA-extension is NOT something I've purchased Based on the reviews I have read here at Amazon, I will not be purchasing the book for 2004. In the mail, I received Delorme's annual flyer offering me SA2004 at a reduced price. Despite my frustrations As far as I can tell, Delorme simply repackaged the previous version, added a few bells (which does not help the program run any faster), and released it. The past three years have seen Delorme continue to exhibit the same pattern as well. My frustration with the interface has grown so great that I dread using There are errors on the maps, and as other users have expressed, the maps don't get updated regularly enough for them to provide any benefit. Using the Road Warrior version on the Dell P330 with a Matrox Millenium G450 video card would not work for me. I need the version installed In thanking all the other reviewers who have already wasted their valuable time and money on this lousy product, I was able to decide not to waste my time and The following email was sent to you I sent a message to Delorme tech support advising them to read the reviews here so that they may be able to improve the
If you have purchased SA2004 and are unhappy with it, you should make use of the 30 day money-back guarantee offered by Delorme. We offer a warranty on our products. If you demand a refund, you may have to wait a long time, but more importantly, you are sending a message to Delorme that they are bad!.

Keeping the highways clean is important to us! The Delorme Street Atlas USA 2004 we have been using is very good, and our RVing activities take us throughout the US and Canada
3/5

In unfamiliar areas, they are useless if the planned path means we must travel on dirt. This happens to us almost every day, as we travel on dirt roads quite often. It is not uncommon for these roads to be so unfriendly to vehicles that the turns onto them are easily missed and they can sometimes be mistaken for ranch "driveways". In some cases, the road starts out paved, but turns to dirt along the way. We have often had to turn around to find another way to get where we need to be. Several filters have been added in the past to "avoid" certain roads, as well as contacting Delorme Support, which has been unable to offer us a solution. They blame the local maps on which Delorme bases its program for Our GPS only shows where we are on the map when we use the program with GPS. Since discovering this frustrating and sometimes dangerous flaw in the program, we never use it without GPS. Next time we head out on a trip, we're definitely replacing this program with something else.

This is the 2004 edition of the DeLorme Street Atlas
3/5

Despite its marginal utility, DeLorme Street Atlas 2004 is somewhat useful to me. Its idiosyncratic user interface has been a source of irritation to me for several years now, despite the fact that I have used it and its predecessor versions for several years. The program might be different for me if I used it frequently enough to get accustomed to it, but if I just occasionally used it, it is quite non-essential A great deal of its functionality is difficult to find, and some of these features are too hard to It is impossible to save map notations and route routes, for instance, since the method is so obscure it is The best way to find directions is to use an online search It's vastly easier and faster to use an online mapping service, such as Map Quest, although printed maps from Street Atlas are superior. While I often buy upgrades from DeLorme over the years, I have little complaint about the quality of the mapping database, but Street Atlas the program is an embarrassment for It desperately needs to be redesigned.

It is a hassle
3/5

As anyone who has read my reviews of the Delorme Street Atlas will know, I'm a huge fan of the Delorme map service and of good mapping in general. My use of early versions of Street Atlas USA dates back more than a decade, going all the way back to version A friend showed me the 0 version and bragged about it. As much as I wish their software would improve, I am saddened to see this great company gradually lose their usability and usefulness. I have had to stop recommending Delorme online because of the amounts of detail for remote areas on the more recent software releases, the software is becoming too complex to use, and even with paper, I only recommend it. Please accept my deep apologies for having to do so. My view is that Delorme needs to go backward a few paces and rethink how they can satisfy the needs of their loyal customers.

It is very helpful to me to use Street Atlas 2004
5/5

During the past three years, we have been using Street Atlas versions at home, while traveling on short trips, and while traveling long distances. It has taken us several times to the United States. They provide us with a lot of flexibility and are very of the program is greatly improved in terms of map handling and the "feel" it has This would be especially useful for a passenger in a flight using a touch screen mouse with a portable PC in motion. Currently we use a wired GPS detector connected to our portable. I suspect we will switch to the new Bluetooth GPS unit as it is As the ability to transfer maps to a PDA has enabled us to use the maps on the windshield next to the mirror for quick orientation as well as following routes, the maps can be used with the PDA attached to the windshield. In following complex routes, the oral instructions from the map software on the PC or PDA proved to be of great assistance. I find the oral instructions extremely helpful in my job as a driver. The only way to get it right Contrasting with instructions given to passengers in a complex city environment.
