In fact, it was designed for quite old versions of Windows (Win90 through There is a possibility that you can get the software to work with newer versions by using compatibility mode, but it didn't work well when it was new and isn't going to be any better now that it's getting old. Also, 15 years will have passed since the maps were last updated. States, big cities, and so on are still there, but there are no new highway interchanges, no new developments, and so on. Free, does everything this application was intended to do, shows current road configurations, actually works, and is completely

Help from "technical support" did NOT include the following As a result, they basically said, "How terrible, how sad. ". Please ensure you keep all of your receipts and boxes if you plan to run this program on Windows XP!.
One of the most common complaints about streetfinder and tripmaker is the fact that they were dropped at the time Windows XP was released. Even so, I have been able to install it using TLMscalPatch1, a patch for Windows 7. It works reasonably well to update the calendar with this exe. The cross needs to be crossed, however You can check the latest information with Google Maps. In streetfinder, I found at least two streets that were not present in Google, and tripmaker is convenient for planning the entire trip in advance and checking with Google on specific stretches as needed. Tripmaker allows me to plan each day of a tour, etc. However, I do not use it to go door to door. My wife gives me 8 days to visit a certain area. In that case, I would recommend it for the general picture, then look into the details afterwards. This is what it has proven to be ideal for.
Street & Smith do not offer any other services In comparison with Trips, it's far better. directions that are provided by the computer are useless. Instead of taking the fastest, shortest route, and stopping near the end of the route, they choose a fictitious path. Choosing a route from my office to my house would meander through part streets rather than travel down the street I work on to the highway, and then after it gets on the highway, it tells me to take the highway straight to my house rather than taking 3 streets as part of the route. As can also be seen on the map, the intended route takes a straight line through the woods between my house and the highway near the end.
After a previous version was released, I hoped it would have been improved after user comments were incorporated. In some way, I missed the fact that I upgraded from the Deluxe Version to the Standard Version. Several features that I was already familiar with were gone. Despite my many complaints, this version is still not satisfactory to me. I wanted to stay at a place that was 20 miles farther along, and it marked the end of the day. After trying for over an hour to get it to remove the marker it placed, I had to travel 20 miles in one day. When I tried to set a road segment as preferred I received an error message saying it had been set to avoid and I needed to reset it. In no segments were segments set to be 'avoided' from resetting. It was accompanied by so many other issues that I am unable to use the The company's support team answered a few questions by email, and I offered to describe my problems and suggestions for improvements. I was told I did not have the deluxe version of the game, and no one showed any interest in my feedback.
It seems to me that this product is a waste of money. My first experience was that the tripmaker was tricky to use Rather than plotting a course from one city to another, it would plot a course from one address to another. Changes to the route that was suggested were not easy to accomplish Trying to conjure up a route that would take me the entire length of Skyline Drive in Virginia was frustrating for the first twenty minutes. The maps appear very dated, which is probably the worst of all. In spite of the date on the box of the software being 2002, the maps didn't show the Midpoint Bridge in Fort Myers, Florida, which opened in October was a great improvement over "Streets and Trips. ".
The maps of areas with poor mapping in previous versions have been updated, and certain features have been improved. estate, and I have found the architectural mapping to be a useful tool for mapping buildings for my customer quickly and efficiently. Although I have no idea how well StreetFinder will work if you use it to plan trips, it appears to be faster and easier than other complex and time-consuming mapping software (like does what is expected of it.
You no longer need to worry about making the wrong turn into B neighborhoods while using this software and the handheld directions unit because it tells you at your fingertips what is at your exit and you do not waste time worrying whether you will make it to the next gas station when you have this software installed.
It was a complete waste of time, it had too many discs, and I was not able to use it effectively. The rebate would have kept it from being returned if not for the rebate.
