A Streets & Trips feature In 2003, we achieved some results, but we still have a long way to go
3/5

I was a frequent traveler when we changed the numbering of the Florida interstate exits from sequential progression to more intuitive mileage markers some 2 years ago, which prompted me to update my venerable 2000 version (which I thought would be out of date by now). Despite the change in exit numbers, Florida remains a S&M state The same as it was in S&C in 2003 This year The I-series of computers, for instance, Junction of the 95 with the US-95 There is still a sign for I- 1 (now exit 339 in South Jacksonville) in the road sign The 95 exit 98 is in the center of town. It would have taken me nearly 250 miles to get to Kansas City which, in those days, would have taken me to Denver. To be sure, Palm Beach is a nice place to be. of practical value has been added in the intervening 3 years, other than the addition of more Microsoft (MS) bells & whistles The screens were more attractive, however, and there were more whistles. However, where the rubber really meets the road is Errors in cartography should be corrected and maps updated There appears to have been little progress for the better in recent years. This is the 5-point plan You can barely go further than page one of the instruction booklet and, as far as installation is concerned, it is entirely silent (maybe for good reason) However, in the typical Microsoft style, it merely refers you to the Help section, which is similar to the Help section in that it is brief and virtually useless unless you already know the relevant keywords the website does not go into enough A handy label attached to a pushpin that marks a location of interest can obscure a point of interest. If only the marker could be rotated to point in another quadrant, this inconvenience would be easily resolved It does not appear that the slight irritation has been addressed I guess I haven't yet learned the proper terms for 'Help'. Are you having a problem like that and you need assistance by phone? There is no doubt that this is the best mapping software package on the market, but Microsoft will charge for what should have been included in the price.
Although this doesn't come without flaws or warts, it is still the best. That is to say, others are more terrible. Even with the rebate, price is modest, installation cost is modest (WIN-XP If you want to read the fax perfectly fine, use the scale or fax mode. I wouldn't count too heavily on the printed directions over major roads (although the route maps over major roads should be reliable in general), but it is less true for cities in which the map may not have been updated for recent on-road changes. The creation of new suburbs or way streets When you travel someplace where major routes or exits have changed in the past few years, just to be safe, I recommend bringing an AAA map. It is clearly overkill to update every year This should be true for the last three to four years, unless MS forgets about the glitz and gets down to the basics of map accuracy and currency. • Sn in A 3-year review of 2003 is better than a 2 year review An average of three stars and the potential for four In years to come, this will be a star product.

Data is more accurate than in S&T 2002 with excellent functionality
5/5

The Streets and Trips 2003 application is one of the best out there and offers more functions and better performance than a Web-based application The map offerings or competitive products are based on the map technology. As far as functionality is concerned, it is almost identical to S&S With data from 2002, the situation has significantly improved. It is interesting to note that when I complained about the horribly inaccurate data in Streets and Trips 2002, Microsoft agreed! As of 2003, Microsoft indicated that it would use an entirely new dataset. According to this, this is indeed the case. In terms of accuracy, there has been a quantum leap forward. It is particularly interesting to examine those hotel statistics, as they appear to be very accurate, unlike their predecessors. The following review serves as a reference for users savvy in dealing with the program attributes since other sources will cover these topics. Being an owner of other map programs and a former user of Mapquest, I have a lot of experience with competitors' My career as a road warrior includes travel 100% of the time, plus I use a GPS receiver and various map software programs.
If you are wondering why you should pay for this program when there are free map sites like Mapquest available to you, here are some a. 1) speed. The site does not need to be connected, which can spell trouble even for broadband users*gt. The scrolling and zooming process is almost instantaneous
2) Map quality is far superior to what is found on web sites
3) My personal favorite More powerful tweaking options- Depending on the type of road you choose, you can set driving speeds, which is an extremely valuable feature When you commute through suburban Chicago to Chicago during rush hour, the highways will not be offering speeds of 65 miles per hour. In this scenario, the interstate highways driving speed is reduced to 30 mph (from 65 mph) and the local roads to 20 mph (from 35 mph and 31 mph), which can produce directions vastly different from what is normally displayed. **4) We don't have any advertisements on our screens or through our print media 5)all round flexibility (save maps, plan trips, better analytics)
6)multiple options for connecting to the Internet There are categories of interests for you
7) You can save maps with your user name I have defined the following points The need for re-loading of the maps when maps are of interest
8) Integrating GPS receivers, which is helpful for road warriors with laptops
What is missing *Lessons in 1) Integrated, real-time Congestion data at various times of day
2)Map data and point-to-point data It's cool to be able to update your interests via the Internet
3) Fast GPS data (current version has a slow refresh rate)
Streets and Trips 2003 is an excellent product both from A casual tourist or a professional traveler would both greatly benefit from it.

In our experience, we rarely use this product
3/5

There are some great features in this product if you're running a route-based business, where you can customize routes by street for sales reps and canvassers that you need to hit certain streets with. The routes could not, however, be imported into any other app in order to be reported or tracked in the future. The other problem is the need to update the software, since the previous version did not take into account some of the new constructions and developments in the market. After that, Google Maps appeared.

Best of the Best
5/5

Streets and Trips is still my favorite. I have used it over the others for over 6 years. From 2002 to 2003, I noticed only minor improvements, but since my trip routing for long trips more than makes up for the expense of the upgrade (cheaper and better than AAA), so it was definitely worth it. Calculations are performed in a timely and accurate manner. I just want to say thanks a lot The deal is decent all the way around.

I would not recommend purchasing this. Do not buy it. That's right, do not buy it. I really don't like the 2003 edition of Streets and Trips due to mistakes made by Microsoft. Almost all of the map information has been out of date. Since the 1998 version of Streets and Trips, I have been a loyal customer, but this is the worst one I have ever used. You will find streets missing (Strawberry Alley) and airports in the wrong place (Addington Field), cities in the wrong place (Fort Knox, KY) and roads misplaced in Elizabethtown, KY Highway 62 west (never named), outdated airports (KSDF- here are continually happening within this It's a frustrating attempt littered with features that should have been taken care of in previous versions. I advise you not to buy it!.

In its day, it was one of the best mapping programs around. As the years have gone by, I've updated the page.
