Navigation program that still works well, but it's a little outdated
5/5

Since GPS receivers cost hundreds of dollars at the time, Delorme Street Atlas has been my go-to navigation tool. The 2005 version was not an exception I have liked all their releases so far. Despite the current error of the 2005 version of the program, I purchased it because it works well in linux (that is, it supports both USB and serial GPS!) that runs through Wine. Since the newest versions (tested until 2008 as of this review) do not install or run well via Wine, this is one of the best options for installing the game locally Then store it on the street In Linux, there is a level navigation system. Upgrade your cartography and features to a newer version if you want updated cartography and new, easy-to-use features. In every version of Delorme Street Atlas, the improvements over the previous version have been significant and it is well worth the price. The only exception is if you want an address on the street Delorme Street Atlas 2005 is your best option if you are looking for a linux nav program that does not require internet access and uses vector maps rather than raster maps.

I like this version much more than the previous one
5/5

One or both of the 2002 or 2003 versions were returned by me. It is difficult for me to remember which one was This is due to the fact that the interface was bad and it was difficult to use. It has been years since I first used and liked ST8, as well as Microsoft Trips and Streets. My IBM 800 MHz notebook had no problems with either of them. In the previous version, I returned the product back to the vendor since I hated it. But today I received and installed the newest version of ST2005. My surprise is that I like it quite a lot. I like how easy it is to use and how well-designed it is It's worth the money for all the features that it offers. The point of interest locations and locations of some points of interest differ greatly from the Google map positions due to the fact that government data is used for all mapping programs. Stateline, NV does not have any POIs and strangely, all of the casinos are missing, as they are in all mapping applications. I have not tested the GPS feature on my IBM notebook with my voice yet, but I'm sure it will work just fine in XP. Essentially, I think it will function the same as the old version I have been using for My Dell desk top with XP ran it smoothly and with no issues. I would say the winner is overall. A brief update After installing SA2005 on my IBM laptop with XP SP2 including the database CD (on the hard drive), the program ran like a charm on a 1000 mile drive. Although the voice commands are interesting, they are not very useful unless the driver is driving in the city and this helps to keep him There were no issues with any of the features. Due to weak speakers and road noise in notebooks, I suggest that you take along an earphone speaker and plug it into the headphone jack on your notebook if you want to hear the directions. In the "back on track" mode, a new highlighted route is created from the point where one gets off the planned route, without changing the rest of it. Voice directions are updated in a matter of seconds as well. This is a great feature, even on a 12" LCD. The maps are easy to navigate and have detailed information on them. In addition to altitude, time to destination, and distance to destination, there are also great features. I used the software to track a real trip with a generic USB GPS receiver, and I gave the program a six-star rating. I would like to do so if The vehicle has been designed with driver convenience in mind. Despite that, I find Streets and Trips to be a nice program as well. It has many, many features that go beyond Streets and Trips. Here are some tips for people who use generic GPS devices When setting up a GPS to communicate with the program, do not pick up a USB port. Comm port 4 or 5 should be listed and you should select one of those rather than You may need to unplug and plug the GPS an additional time to obtain the correct comm port listing if neither 4 nor 5 appears. This program allows you to use the GPS quickly and easily. Every single time, I got a signal within a minute.

The Windows Streets & Trips service is much better
4/5

Dynamic is the name of the game for Delorme's product. In the end, it worked out well- In the The box can be used as a GPS navigation aid. This guide will start talking to you as soon as you are in position and will guide you back to your location. You may get off-track if you get off track On the same track, it rewinds It routes you automatically in just a few It is hard to imagine a world without Microsoft's product. You can see the location of your device if you connect it to a GPS. Expect it to think far ahead, but don't count on it. Despite its shortcomings, I have used it numerous times, and it has proved to be helpful in terms of adding accurate MAPs and showing where you are. It takes a lot more than just telling someone "This is where you are" to give somebody good directions. So that you can prepare for turning up ahead of time, you will want to know when to prepare. Dolme's software will do this for you, and it will do it.

Not all data is up to date
3/5

a lot and have to find my way around by GPS and laptop all the time. The Garmin GPS software comes with a bunch of features that are far more accurate and useful than those for other GPS devices. My observation has been that many of the road labels in Street Atlas are incorrect or are simply drawn wrongly. The information on the site is out of date and not regularly updated. The Street Atlas 2004 doesn't have my neighborhood in it, and I live in the middle of a major city. My neighborhood was built more than ten years ago. The software is suitable for very basic information, but I wouldn't recommend it for more advanced use. If you prefer a paper map, you can get one.

It's a good product
5/5

I have used DeLorme Street Atlas for years in my genealogy research. There is so much detail in the maps of both urban and rural roads and also features such as topography that I find amazing. By combining a GPS unit with a DeLorme Atlas and Gazetteer, I have been able to locate and drive directly to many insecure.

This is not for non-English speakers This page is intended for English language If the version of Windows selected by the user is not English or if the user sets a language other than English as the default language on a US version of Windows, Street Atlas 2004 will not work
3/5

Every time I want to run SA 2005, I have to adjust the language settings in my US version of Windows XP and reboot the computer. There was a lot of work involved and I wished SA 2005 fixed that problem. suffers from the same problem and it appears that DeLorme doesn't care at all about any of this. It may be necessary for you to use Microsoft Streets & Streets for Windows if you have different language settings on your computer. It would have been better to go on a trip GPS capabilities of the SA 2005 are better than those of MS S & ME T is my choice, but S & T is my preference Due to this reason, I T. *I gave it two stars because sometimes it worked for me if I didn't mind rebooting my computer and giving up other jobs that required Chinese language support. I do this only once or twice per.
