It can be mounted on the inside or outside of the tank; it's easier to read from the outside, but it probably gives a more accurate temperature reading when mounted inside.

A veiled chameleon was recently discovered in our lanai, our back porch that is completely enclosed (except for a doggie door). We took it in because it wasn't doing well, so we did some quick research and scrambled to get the things the little guy needed. We later discovered that someone was breeding things and was about to get into trouble, so they released all of their stock into the wild. br>br>Until we could get the proper setup, we kept him in a tall terrarium tank. This strip was ideal for the glass and allowed us to ensure that the proper temperatures were maintained.
They're not particularly easy to read as is, but they do the job for what they're intended to do. Aside from that, mine have been working fine for months. I bought one for each side of my 30 gallon tank, and they've proven to be very useful in controlling the gradient. They are temperature sensitive and appear to last a long time. I'm also a fan of the cost!.
The temperature reading isn't perfect, so I wouldn't use it if you need a very narrow temperature range. It's in my bearded dragon's tank, and it serves as a good indicator when my night heating lamp fails to turn on properly. It's fantastic, or the price; I have yet to find this brand for less in El Paso, TX.
It arrived quickly and appears to function satisfactorily. It's stuck to the glass of my terrarium and appears to be about the right temperature. It does, however, provide a wide range of temperatures, so don't get it if you're looking for a specific temperature. It's very basic, but it's dependable.
for the sunbathing area of my RES This works, but don't try to move it unless you accept the sad reality that it will no longer serve its divine purpose of determining whether your light will boil your reptile or if your reptile will freeze relative to some guy's body temperature.
It's difficult to read, and it's not even close to being accurate enough to be useful. Buy a digital thermometer instead of these.
I ordered one one week and another the following week because I enjoy them so much. However, the style / design was not the same. When there are two of them on one tank, you want them to match.
Expect to get what you pay for; for a few dollars more, I could have gotten a much better thermometer.
