We simply place it in a small container and give it to it dry. We also have 2 cotton balls in another container that we wet every day (it's a good idea to change them at least once a week) and try to feed a baby carrot once or twice a week.
No, I don't usually feed crickets to my gecko until 48 hours have passed since I last fed them. I'll dust them if they haven't been out for at least 24 hours.

To cut down on the cost of feeding my frogs, I've been attempting to hatch and grow my own crickets. The baby crickets kept dying, and when I looked at them under a microscope, I noticed that they all had small white mites attached to their joints, which were feeding on them. I looked through the substrate and discovered these mites in both the food and the substrate. I started over with a new container, new crickets, and fresh food, only to have the same thing happen again. I examined the sealed jar of food that was still good after the expiration date and discovered it to be infested with these mites. I tried a few different things to see what would kill the mites without contaminating the food. They were difficult to kill, but a quick 50-second microwave on high did the trick. Then, as a precaution, I went out and bought some new food, microwaved it, and then frozen it. I haven't had any more mite problems in the food or substrate since I did this.
Fluker's has been in business for more than 50 years and offers a reliable product for gut loading crickets before feeding. br>br>I'll admit that the cricket meal isn't my only source of protein. I give our crickets a mix of fresh vegetable scraps and other foods, as well as dry cat food for added protein. I do use the yellow calcium cricket quencher, but I also provide fresh water in the form of a soaked sponge (to keep them from drowning). We care about our reptiles and want them to be as healthy as possible, so we need to keep our feeders in good shape. We keep their cage clean and provide plenty of hiding places (it's a large tote with cutouts covered in screen). To ensure that they are not constantly terrified, we keep them in a dimly lit, low-noise environment. We feed them on a daily basis and supplement their diet with water and cricket gel as needed. br>br>You don't need to buy any additional produce to do any of this; they'll happily eat potato peels and apple peels, as well as the harder inside bits of lettuce heads that you don't want to eat, carrot shavings, and so on. Simply toss in items that would otherwise be discarded, and you'll be feeding your reptiles while also reducing waste.
The price is unbeatable at $13 for a 6-pound jar. It's half the price of flukers cricket food in smaller containers. br>br>In terms of cricket food, it's fantastic. It's a hit with my crickets, and there aren't many dead crickets in the cage. The crickets don't eat much of what's left over, but it's not much. If you overfeed your crickets, they will become picky and leave more of the scrap behind. This is a calcium-rich, all-in-one supplement. This is a fortified cricket diet, so all you have to do is give your crickets this and water. It's that easy. This is gut-wrenching stuff. The term "loading food" refers to the fact that insects fed with this food provide a lot of nutrients to your reptiles or amphibians. It's also said to be effective against dubia roaches and mealworms. br>br>I raise crickets, and after several months, I'm still only a quarter of the way through this jar. But it retains its freshness, so there's no need to be concerned. If you breed or buy feeder insects in bulk, this is a product I highly recommend.
This is the 11th time I've purchased this item. I had been wanting to get my hands on a 5 oz container for a long time, so when I saw this great deal, I jumped at it! The only problem is that these tiny white mites did not appear out of nowhere. They could be referred to as wheat mites. This is the first time I've ever seen or had these. Because this happens, it had no bearing on the review. I'm afraid I'll have to deal with it. Excellent value for money and a large container. To get rid of the mites, I've heard of freezing or baking the product. I tried freezing for a couple of days, but it didn't work out.
Crickets love this stuff, but if you want to see a feeding frenzy, mix a handful of 9 lives plus care dry cat food tuna egg flavor with some D3 calcium to ensure my reptiles get enough calcium absorption. Crickets literally fight over the cat food, stealing it from each other, and it's cheap entertainment to watch them.
This is something they'll really enjoy eating. What I like about this product is that the 6 pounder of cricket feed is so inexpensive; when I lived in New York, they charged so much that it was ridiculous. I can't find a 6 pounder in a pet store, so thank you for selling large containers of cricket food. The delicious cricket feed is being enjoyed by my crickets. When I placed it in their cage, they began to eat it. I highly recommend this product to feeder crickets if they need a large container of cricket food for their crickets. This product's expiration date is about right, so it won't go bad for a while. Thank you for taking the time to replace my items; I am very pleased with them and they arrived on time.
They pack a punch and are a delicious meal for Luna (the dragon).
Makes a week's worth of store-bought worms. br>Simply sprinkle a small amount on top, as shown in the YouTube video. Low price for a large jar.
