When I turn around, there she is, her entire upper body submerged in the fish tank, attempting to drink the water and reach the fish. I bought this cover because I figured if it could hold up to snakes, it could also hold up to cats. It's a definite winner! The catfish are the only cats in the fish tank right now! Because the metal is so sturdy and strong, the cat can lie on top of the tank and it will not bow or budge. I also like the hinged cover because I can perch the light over the back half so I don't have to take it all apart to clean, feed, or rearrange things; instead, I can just open the front half quickly and easily. Because the cover has open corners, it can be bent to make it wider or narrower as needed. It fits over the filter clip perfectly, and there's a gap around the hinge that's just wide enough for the heater cord to pass through. It is, without a doubt, a flawlessly designed product. In every way, it was more than worth it. This is incredible.
For the price, it's a good deal, but don't expect perfection. I like how it opens in the middle. Having easy access to your pets is very important. However, it arrived scratched (which I covered with a sharpie) and with some small holes in the screen between the wires. There's nothing major here; just a few small gaps between wires. It worked out because I needed to cut a hole for a hose anyway.
5" on the inside edge 75x24. 25 - It was the perfect size for my 20 gallon aquarium. The screen is sandwiched between the rolled metal edges of the frame (as seen in the photos). It's heavy enough to hold down a small chameleon, but you'd need the clips to keep a snake from pushing on it. The hinge makes it very easy to get into the cage.
This is a fantastic screen cover. Because the lights are simply moved to one side while you access the tank, it allows for easy access. This item is extremely durable.
The middle hinge is particularly attractive.
We still need to cover part of the screen with plexiglass to keep the humidity in, but it's a lot easier to get into the habitat for cleaning, feedings, and whatever else.
This is a perfect fit for our 29-inch-high tank.
