I was given one that was 18 years old. My 40 breeder had a 75-inch deep hole that protruded out the front.
It's a metal screen that would take a serious attempt with a sharp blade to rip through.
Yes, cutting the frame or just the metal mesh on top would be fine because the cover fits snugly and the metal mesh would retain its integrity all around.
My recommendation is to purchase a screen lid kit that you can assemble yourself. It's basically just an aluminum window frame and some netting.br>br> br>br>It's preferred for reef/planted tanks because it allows UV light to penetrate the water, whereas glass blocks UV light, preventing plants from receiving optimal spectrums.

My cat wouldn't stop climbing on top of my pricey exo-skeleton, so I bought this. For my snake, I bought a terra terrarium. The terrarium itself has a mesh top that isn't designed to support my cat's weight. I littered the top of the terrarium with various objects until this arrived in the mail, hoping to discourage my cat from thinking it could squeeze between or overtop of the various objects. Now that the cage is covered with this sturdy top, I don't have to clutter the top of the cage with junk, and it must have a built-in cat deterrent, because my cat hasn't even tried to climb on top of the cage now that it has the option and ability to do so.
This is a must-have item for any cat owner! My gerbils were bound to attract the attention of my cat. I wanted them to be entertained while still ensuring the safety of the gerbils. This fits perfectly over the screen that came with my tank, giving me two layers of steel screen protection. My cat frequently sits on top of the screen, which I don't mind because it can easily support her weight. It is well worth the money!.
Terrarium Terrarium Terrarium Terrarium Terrarium Terrarium Terrarium Terrarium Terrarium Terra Let's say our cat started jumping on top of the tank, causing the mesh to warp. Our Exo- The front swinging doors on the terra terrarium are 36x18. I was worried that the 36x18 Zilla wouldn't fit over it, but after reading other comments and reviews, I decided to try it. We're pleased to report that it easily slides over our Exo- Terrarium Terrarium Terrarium Terrarium Terrarium Terrarium Terrarium Terrarium Terrarium Terra As you can see from the photos, it's a little bigger than the terrarium. I can also confirm that with this additional lid in place, we can still open the front doors. The doors are not obstructed by the lid. For the record, we're not getting rid of the flimsier mesh exo-suits. Just putting this on top of the terra lid to make sure our cat doesn't get through. If you want to use this Zilla lid/cover without the Exo-frame, I imagine you'd have to figure out a way to keep the Terra screen cover in place.
*UPDATE- When I'm not in the room, I've noticed that my chubby cat spends a lot of time on this new screen. Thankfully, this thing is a beast; the steel mesh is slightly bowed from his weight, but otherwise intact, and I'm glad I purchased it! br>br>At first, I was hesitant to purchase this because I wasn't sure if it would fit in my 60 gallon aquarium (which is where my beardie lives). The screen's length is listed as 48", but my tank is 48 inches long. 5”. If it didn't fit, I hoped it could be bent to fit, but that was pointless. With just a smidgeon of extra room, this cover fits perfectly. The mesh is thicker and more durable than the screen that came with my 40 gallon system, which one of my cats fell through while looking around. I'm worried it'll come loose from the frame, but I (or rather, the cat) won't put it to the test. I'm happy with it so far. That is precisely what I was looking for.
Instead of cutting sharp mesh, I drilled holes in the plastic, but there was still insufficient air flow. Despite the fact that the screen is two inches longer than the bin, it still functions. The one side has a bin latch, and I added sand to balloons for weights, so it's secure enough for a tiny hamster who wouldn't be able to get out anyway. The picture quality on the screen is excellent. Strong and dependable. It would be ideal for a tank of the appropriate size, and it would be well worth the money to avoid having to deal with cutting mesh or worrying about sharp, dangerous edges for my hamster or my children.
For my 55 gallon hamster tank, I purchased this lid. It came with very little packaging, which I like because it reduces waste, but the lid was severely bent because it was literally just the lid in a big box with nothing to protect it. I recall reading the reviews and seeing that everyone's lid was bent, but I figured mine wouldn't be. It was a little bent when it arrived, but I was able to straighten it out. It also nearly didn't fit my tank, but after I bent the lid's ends, it did. Overall, if you don't mind bending and adjusting the lid a little when it gets there, it's still a decent lid. It'll do for now because it's the only lid that fits my tank. It's also sturdy because my cats haven't been able to open it. Even if you bend it back into place, there will be a few spots that are still damaged (you can see the part I couldn't fix in my photo). ) I'd buy it again if I had the opportunity.
Aqueon 75 gallon tank will fit perfectly. I was concerned because the measurements were slightly off, with the tank's length being 48 instead of 48. 5, but with a slight bend in the end, it fits like a glove! I ordered on Saturday night, and it didn't ship until Monday, which is understandable given the holiday, but it arrived the next day, before I returned home from work. My snake appears to be in a good mood:.
He enjoys lying on top and soaking up the heat that was meant for my fully grown corn snake in the terrarium below. Attempts to repair the original tank lid were futile, so I had it re-installed. All attempts to repair the frame with duct tape, wire sewing, and other methods failed because the screen collapsed again. Through Zilla, the replacement screen costs more than $48! Until I went to Amazon, finding a lid of this size was extremely difficult. com. Because of its unique "slide-front" lid design and slightly odd dimensions, I was still worried it wouldn't fit my "Critter Cage" when I found it. I was concerned because my personal measurements indicated that it would be about 1/4 inch too narrow in width. I'm pleased to report that it not only fits perfectly, but it also supports the weight of my crazy cat! The snake isn't happy about her lack of escape ability because it's the end of mating season, but that makes me happy as well.
