Is your 40 gallon container 48" long by 13" wide? If not, this lid will not fit.
Is it 48" x 13" or something similar?
It is not divided into two parts. They have hinges in the middle that allow them to open on either side; we have ours set up so that one side has all of the lights for our bearded friends. On the other hand, we've opened the door to the room so that we can feed him and stuff.

It arrived in a huge box with nothing inside to support it, so it floated around like a fish out of water in there. All of the edges were bent, and the tiny, flimsy hinges in the middle were about to break. However, I required this in order to relocate my snake to a larger enclosure. As a result, I carefully bent all of the edges back into place and added gorilla tape to both sides (inside and outside) of the middle seam. As a result, it's working for the time being, but it's not worth the money. When I get the chance, I'll make my own.
When I saw the box's condition, I was terrified. The box was only held together at the ends by tape. Shipping and packaging by SHoddy. If you have a strong critter that you want to keep in the tank, don't use the lid because it's flimsy.
The package was damaged when it arrived, but not the shipping box. It's a good fit for my 55 gallon tank. It was slightly damaged when I received it, but it was still functional. The shipping box was undamaged, indicating that it had been packaged in this manner. I needed a cover for my turtle tank that allowed light and heat in while remaining opaque. The turtle is kept in while the cat is kept out.
Because my cats enjoy going fishing, I got this to cover my fish tank. I thought this would work because it was hinged and I could easily feed the fish, but the hinges across the middle are extremely weak. I still need to keep the cats away from it because they would fall in if they walked on it. I wasn't sure if the screen top would work with the frame dented like that, but it did, and I won't be returning it. That nonsense has no place in my life. I was let down.
This lid is ideal for use in aquariums. The packaging was insufficient to prevent damage during transport, so stars were deducted.
This is an excellent display. Because the notches in the corner are large enough, I can run the wires from my filter, heater, and digital thermometer through them. It's strong enough to support the heating lamp that sits on top of it, as well as a few other items.
It's quite pleasant. sturdiness and perfect fit Our bearded dragon will undoubtedly be protected from our cats.
