No, it does come with an expiration date because in Germany they are required to do so by law. The powder has not expired and we have used them past their expiration date without any issues. As long as the powder stays dry and away from any heat, you shouldn't have any problems.
It is used in my shrimp-only aquariums as well as tanks with shrimp and fish as well. It has proven beneficial for fish, snails and other invertebrates to use this product too. My Panda Garra and Goby both need biofilm to live. I bought this product primarily for shrimp, but other fish and invertebrate species also benefit.
shrimps of all kinds are safe
While it does improve water quality, it serves more as a catalyst for microfilm to grow. In addition to microfilm growing on top of the powder, the powder attaches to items in the tank, although shrimp can eat it directly. It acts less as a water conditioner, but as a food source that will reach every corner of the tank, and thus will have a high effect on shrimplet survival rates.

Reviewing this product is something I've been putting off for some time. It would be a good idea to read the entire review before getting angry. This is not to say there is no benefit to the product, or that it is inherently bad. I am only saying I don't see any benefits. It may be that people see only If they have no knowledge of how these things work, how would they know whether they work? Having an extremely observant personality, I spend a lot of time watching my shrimp tanks and cannot say that I noticed any significant improvement or difference while using this product. I am an extremely observant individual, and I spend a lot of time just watching my shrimp tanks as well. As I understand, this is supposed to promote the growth of a biofilm that shrimp feed on (particularly the young shrimp) as well as improve water qualities. As a matter of fact, I am certain I didn't observe any of these effects. Additionally, I keep a very close eye on the size of my babies, taking the effort to keep detailed notes in my computer (I have bred and sold Neocaridina for years). Since the bacteria lasts for quite a while, I was able to observe the effects. Once I ran out of the bacteria, I stopped buying it, and my shrimp are doing just as well as The only thing I can say with certainty is that the bacter had no adverse effects on the shrimp or tank. Considering the price is reasonable, especially if the software does what it claims to do, that's a definite I have to say that I appreciate how low the prices are. They could easily charge a lot more for this product but instead keep them low.
I am not implying that it is a bad product. There has been times when I was wrong, but it happened before. Please note that I am only speaking from.
Having just joined the shrimp keeping hobby, I was worried that my babies might not get enough food, so I bought this food. It was a huge hit with the shrimp! In addition, my Nerite snails were also concerned, so I started growing some biofilm rapidly since I was concerned that it was being rapidly depleted by shrimp and snails growing in my betta and snail tanks of 5 and 2 gallons, respectively. This 2 gallon is a temporary, cycled, filtered tank, but it got low on algae very quickly, so it helps feed my 6 gallon while it cycles. You have to be careful when opening it due to its very fine texture, I recommend putting a piece of paper under it when you first open it, as mine instantly spilt, even though it had never been opened and was sealed, that's how fine it It doesn't have to be pre-mixed, you just add a little bit to the tank, and it will eventually fall everywhere in the tank. You don't have to worry if you see powder floating on top of the water, it will eventually sink.
The Bacter AE is a superb product and is highly recommended by many You can see first hand what products are like by doing a search on YouTube. This product has allowed me to keep my cherry and Amano shrimp low tech planted tank at great levels for a little over a month now. As a result of its increased health, I have noticed more biofilm production on my sponge filter and catappa leaves, the main source of food for my baby cherry shrimp, as well. As the grains are small, they do not stick to each other and diffuse, which is good since the Amano shrimp would otherwise easily dominate and crowd my cherry shrimp out of the Based on your bioload, I would recommend using 1/4 of the manufacturers' recommendation every other day, and then slowly scaling up until you have reached your sweet spot. My water parameters should always be stable and as pristine as possible, so I always err on the conservative side when feeding. There's no need to worry about the price. It seems like an extremely small container, but it lasts a long time and is a quality product. Unless you grossly overfeed it, you really can't go wrong with it. an investment that will pay off in the long run. I wish you luck and a happy shrimping season!.
