A black sand. The water where they came out was very dark and needed to be cleaned. Four days ago, I contacted the seller about the return policy, and I have not heard from them since. At Petco, you can also buy a 20 lb bag of BLACK sand for the same price. The stuff on this site is a rip-off. Return shipping would have been difficult, so I have no option but to live with it.
