Questions & Answers

How long do you think you can keep this sand in the bag before it kills it?

When I ordered my sand, it had an expiration date of more than a year, so I assumed the live bacteria would stay alive until then if I kept it at room temperature. So I'm confident they'll send you freshly packed sand, which I highly recommend.

My ammonia level did not rise. Live rock has arrived; did your ammonia level rise as a result of the sand?

This should completely cycle your tank. If your ammonia level is rising, you'll need to add more live rock. This acts as a filter thanks to the bacteria in it.

Is it safe to drink fresh water from it?

This can be used in freshwater, but it will kill the bacteria; however, the sand is safe to use. One disadvantage is that because it is aragonite sand, it may dissolve and add too much calcium to your water if your pH is too low. You want some calcium to dissolve in saltwater for the corals, but I don't think extra calcium would be harmful in freshwater.

Perfect for a finer-tuned look

substrate with a grain My reef began with the Arag- I liked the Alive Special Grade but wanted something with smaller grains, especially after getting sand-sifting gobies and seeing how difficult it was for them to get good mouthfuls with the Special Grade. Fiji Pink turned out to be exactly what I was looking for. This stuff is nice and fine, but not fine enough to blow around or compact like dusty/silty materials. It's similar to the grain size of beach sand. The Fiji Pink is fantastic, and I'll be using it in my reef tanks going forward. br>br>It's worth noting that all of my Arag-related posts are on the internet. My tanks have become quite cloudy as a result of using Alive products. In my small all-girls' school, The cloudy haze in one tank took a long time to dissipate. I used the flocculant/Bio-flocculant in my larger reef. It was cleaned up the next day using the magnet pounch that came with the bag. I was adding sand to an already-filled bucket the third time (using the Fiji Pink). I was nervous about using the bio-filter in my well-established tank. In a tank with fish and corals, there is a magnet clarifier. Even though I rinsed the sand beforehand to reduce the amount of clouding, the tank was still quite cloudy that night. The sump/refugium, on the other hand, had worked its magic by the time I got home from work the next day, and the water was crystal clear without the need for the clarifier.

In a cichlid tank, it's fantastic
5/5

I'm not sure why it's called pink because it appears to me to be white. This is what I used in my cichlid tank. On the basis of other sources, I took a chance. I was concerned that I was using a "marine" sand for freshwater cichlids. The cichlids are content, and I am as well. In a 75-gallon bucket, I used three bags. tank with a capacity of gallon I didn't rinse the sand because I wanted to keep the good bacteria. For a day, it rained heavily. The fish will not be harmed. The filters will not be harmed. One end of my camera has a matten filter. On one end, the sand is very thick, and near the foam matten filter, it is very thin. I'm using a canister and two HOB filters. The intakes of the HOBs are sponged. There was no substrate in the established goldfish tank. It became a cichlid tank after I converted it. There are eight full-size beds available. In the tank, there are fully grown African cichlids.

It's Alive!! The Perfect Sandbed!! The bags arrived with seawater in them, which is a good thing because most of the bags on the shelves of local fish stores are dry
5/5

When it comes to aquarium substrate and decorative rocks, Carib Sea is one of my go-to brands. br>"Aragonite," "live sand," and "no waiting time" are all words that come to mind when thinking of the brand. br>The Fiji Pink is the perfect grain size for snails, crabs, shrimp, and worms. It doesn't blow off easily and is ideal for snails, crabs, shrimp, and worms.
Thous, during the initial placement, this sand bag will definitely cloud your tank like mixing 10% milk and 90% water which will most likely worry any hobbyist. Expec After 12 hours, the powder will settle on top of the sand bed, but will completely clear after 24 hours, possibly due to the clarifying liquid pocked that comes with the sand bag. Make sure to sponge the tank walls to get rid of the chalky residue. sediments, for example Everything will appear normal within 48 hours, as if the tank had been properly maintained. If you have a sump with a 100 micron sock filter, it will almost certainly help to reduce clouding, and it will make the entire process of waiting-and-waiting-and-waiting-and-waiting-and-waiting-and-waiting-and-waiting-and-waiting-and-waiting-and-waiting-and-waiting-and-wait Much faster to clear. It's either "live" or "dry" sand, and each has its own set of "benefits" and "drawbacks. " br>I adore it when everything finally settles down!.

Thank you so much, Amazon, for having my back
5/5

I posted a picture of this bag in a fish group to show the price difference between buying it online and buying it in a store. Of course, there's always "that guy" who claims that when live sand is shipped, it is always leaking and dry. I just received my two bags in the mail today, and they were bubble wrapped and in their own box within a larger box that had some wrapping on it. Thank you for not failing to uphold your end of the bargain. I adore "that guy," and I'm happy to report that mine arrived safely in the mail. I saved $8 per piece and didn't have to haul them home myself. I have enough sand to set up my 10 gallon as a saltwater tank, and it came with a small bag of clarifying stuff to help it settle quickly.

My favorite salt water substrate because of the great color and perfect grain size
5/5

I've loved this stuff for over a decade and it's still my favorite - Great color, ideal grain size, and no fine gravel or dust. When placing an order, there are a few things to keep in mind. br>For starters, you may require more weight than you would in a dry-cleaning situation. Because some of the weight is water, you wouldn't notice in a small tank, but it could add up to an extra bag in a large tank with multiple bags. Second, you probably don't want to wash it because soaking it in fresh water to rinse it defeats the purpose of shipping it wet with salt water, ready to host beneficial bacteria. I don't know how long it'll take to get back to normal. It says it has live bacteria in it. It's impossible to say how much is still alive after a long time in a bag, but it's certainly more ready to host than dry sand. br>If you're using it for cichlids, however, wash it thoroughly because they dig a lot and you'll want all the fine stuff gone. br>I use an Aquaclear filter on the tank, fill it only with sponges, and gently stir the sand every time the tank starts to clear at all, so the fine stuff settles to the bottom or floats into the water. After a few days, I can gently disturb the sand without fear of clouding the water for days, and I know that I can do so for the rest of the tank's life. If you don't mind changing it a few times a day, you can speed things up by layering filter floss on top of the sponge to create a finer filtration layer.

I would purchase this sand again
4/5

This sand has slightly larger granules than the sand I previously purchased, which is an improvement for me because it does not blow around. br>br>I bought two bags for a 50 gallon tank I was putting together. The first bag contained a lot of water and was extremely wet, while the second bag was slightly less wet but still manageable. It worked out perfectly to be able to combine the two. br>br>The sand appears to be in excellent condition, and I would buy it again! Due to one bag's dryness, I gave it four stars. While it wouldn't be a big deal in my situation, I'd be disappointed if I only bought one bag and it didn't have enough water, but that's the risk you take when buying something like this online!.
