Questions & Answers

How many bags will I need to cover the bottom of two 5 gallon fluval Spec V aquariums with about 1/2 inch of cover?

If you only want 1/2 inch, I believe one bag will suffice, but it will be close. Just to be safe, I'd order two. That way, if you need to add or replace some later, you'll have extra.

Is it true that the bag I received contains small black pieces of material that isn't sand?

Is it possible that they sent you the wrong items?

Is this suitable for a Zen Garden?

There's no reason why it shouldn't be done!

Is it possible to fill a 5-gallon tank with this sand bag?

Yes, but I would advise against using sand because it killed all of my fish and is difficult to clean when food falls to the bottom and the fish eat it as well as ingest the sand.

Beautiful beach sand, almost identical to that found on the beaches of Destin, Florida
5/5

It's absolutely stunning, and I'm delighted with it. It's also simple to grow plants in. It's the closest thing to white sand you'll find! Because I wanted a deep substrate layer in my 5 gallon tank, I used about 9 lbs.

The sand is lovely, but it's too fine
3/5

This sand is lovely and soft, and my cory catfish adored it. However, it is extremely fine, similar to powder sugar, and if you have a tank with a strong or even moderate current flow, this sand is not for you. The sand will never settle, resulting in a fine white haze in your water, which is exacerbated when your lights are turned on. Bottom feeders/Cory cats scuffing through the sand will cause it to rise to the surface and into the water, rather than settle down as substrate should. This lovely sand is ideal for Betta fish tanks or other fish that require little to no current flow in order for the sand to settle. It's simple to clean and it looks great.

Wow
5/5

Despite being prompted by every company after purchasing a product, I rarely write reviews, but I have to give it to this sand because the Petco sand I was using before wouldn't give my plants enough grip during water changes, so I'd have to replant while doing water changes because they'd just fly off everywhere. That is no longer an issue for me. This sand is nice and heavy, and it shines nicely. It has a beautiful appearance and is of excellent quality. From now on, I'll almost certainly stick to this brand. Thanks!.

THE SAND IS PERFECT
5/5

The sand is my favorite! This Sand is extremely difficult to keep clean, unless you own an axolotl! It's fantastic because it's so fine that it won't hurt them, but it can be difficult to clean. However, this is something to think about with all sands.

Natural sand is beneficial to your fish

UPDATE. I needed to add sand to two aquariums that had rocks in one and gravel in the other, and my albino cory doras didn't have any! They love sand, and it doesn't harm their little barbells and whiskers, so I just put it in the front and made a sand bar for them. I was looking for a nice white sand, but it turned out to be brown. I planned to return it, but I decided to use it because my little Cory's were in desperate need of it, so I canceled the return and am so glad I did. After it's been cleaned and placed in the tank, it appears to be very light, pretty, and natural. I cleaned it for days before gently placing it where I wanted it, using a small glass to fill with the cleaned wet sand and slowly pouring it where I wanted it, not from the top of the aquarium but from the bottom. It worked perfectly, there was no clouding of the water, and the sand fell gently where you wanted it to. Very nice; just make sure you rinse it thoroughly first, and soak it for at least 24 hours in treated water. UPDATE: So I bought it again, but this time I got white sand, like White Sands, New Mexico white, and I layered it over whatever color I had the first time. I believe I received the natural moonlight gold or something similar the first time? I ordered the same moonlight sand both times, so I'm not sure what the first bag's name is now, but they're both really nice. I have photos of both the first moonlight sand I received and the repurchased moonlight sand.

The sand is so silky! I've been using this sand exclusively in all of my planted freshwater tanks for years
5/5

If you're careful with your gravel vacuum, it's very easy to keep clean. All the poop and uneaten food was sucked right up by gently swirling with little pressure. I used to follow the instructions about putting it in a bucket and rinsing and rinsing and rinsing and rinsing and rinsing and rinsing and rinsing and rinsing and rinsing and rinsing and rinsing and rinsing and rinsing and rinsing and I lost so much s Turning off the filter to reduce water flow and placing it in a very clean soda bottle that is empty with a funnel has been a huge success for me over the last couple of years. Fill the filter 3/4 full, then gently pour water into it before placing it in your tank. Once the water is in it and it has settled down a little, get really close to the areas where you want to spread it. It will cover beautifully if you gently shake it out into those areas. The water clarifier in the bed is effective, but it will take a few days for the water to return to its original clarity. Wait five minutes after it has been spread out on the bottom of your tank before turning back on your filter. This method has never resulted in the loss of a filter or a fish for me. Smooth, beautiful sand that is highly rated; it is the finest sand I've ever felt; it feels almost silky in your fingers.

Switched from gravel to sand. This sand is fantastic, and I've purchased over 20 pounds of it. Because the stuff only sits on top, vacuuming is a breeze, but it does pick up some sand, which is to be expected. My fish adore it, and it's a great place for them to eat leftover food. I recently switched from gravel to sand, which is far easier to maintain and, in my opinion, far superior to gravel. I'm not going back to gravel any time soon!.
