According to Fluval, once a month is the recommended frequency. In my opinion, it all depends on how the water regime is changed.

I am sure that if you have read through any of my reviews of Fluval or Seachem product's, you will conclude that I only use those two products If I buy in bulk for the best price or purchase via Amazon Subscribe & Save, I save more. Why do you want to save? While I've seen off brands at great prices and have even given them a try, while the off brands are somewhat thinner, I found that the off brands clogged up more rapidly in my setups (multiple large tanks with huge African Cichlids and SA/CA fish). It is one of my greatest passions to keep my tanks clean. Besides Fluval FX filters, the filter pads work with a wide variety of canister filters very easily as well. Bottom line, if you use either style of Fluval filter, they are a must have!.
There's never any cloudiness in the water of my aquarium. Changing out the pad and adding loose carbon into a knee hi every month, and tying the end off and trimming an extra panty hose every month, is how I do my cycling. My inexpensive box of 10 pairs comes with 20 aquarium bags plus 10 Foam pads for adding carbon or whatever I need. I use the Fluval impregnated pads and they work great, but haven't tried the cheaper ones that don't have a name but come all at once. There is no other pad like this here Fluval and I can't speak for the others. Whenever I buy something, I believe that I'm getting what I paid I would appreciate your feedback by clicking on helpful if this review was helpful to you in any way. They polish, trap a lot of debris, and are the best pads available. As you probably know, if you have read any of my reviews about Fluval or Seachem product's, you will probably conclude that I only use those 2 products The best price is obtained by buying in bulk. What is the benefit of this? I have seen the off brands at great prices' and even tried them out, but the off brands clogged up a bit faster in my tank setup (several very large tanks and very very large and mess fish like heavenly stocked Cichlids from Africa and South the Caribbean). It is one of my greatest passions to keep my tanks clean. With 5 Fluval FX6 filters (2 in my 135 gallon African and 3 in my 220 CA/SA tanks, as well as 3 Fluval FX4 filters in my 30 and 90 gallon aquariums), the water is crystal clear with the appearance that my fish are floating. As for all other canister filters, you can use these pads with very little effort. Bottom line is, these filters pads are a must if you are running any of the Fluval FX series filters!.
These already had a good price so I ordered them to stock up at the beginning of the year. It became obvious when I received the blue filter pads that these are knockoffs inside the Fluval packaging. My first observation was that these were flimsy and thin, whereas the original Fluval blue pads that I had on hand from a reputable fish store were thicker, stronger, and tightly weaved. In the picture, you can see whether the knockoffs are cleanly cut or not, and they are about half an inch smaller than the originals. These pads are much thinner than those associated with artificial limbs. The seller was very devious and misleading as I paid for a product that generally I expect to be legitimate and consistent.
A must have for FX series. Fluval FX6 filters (two in my 135 gallon African, three in my 135 gallon CA/SA, and three FX4 filters in my others 6 tanks, from 30 to 90 gallons) perform extremely well with Blue & Gold polishing pads. Despite the Fluval pads being white and the water crystal clear, my fish appear to be soaring above it. As for all other canister filters, you can use these pads with very little effort. Bottom line is, these filters pads are a must if you are running any of the Fluval FX series filters!.
My understanding is that they're okay. Clearer water has been noticed in my drinking water. In my 110 gallon aquarium, I have four fancy goldfish, and I feed them Repashy Super Gold. So, I keep my tank fairly cluttered. The clarity of my water was unacceptable to me after installing an FX4. In my case, I replace the filter every week with a water polishing pad and rinse out the old one before re-using Make use of. There's no reason for them to last very long, and I probably only get two uses out of them before they fall apart. Although they're quite inexpensive, I think I might still purchase them in the future. Honestly, I do not know what the answer is. Finally, I bought a water polishing filter as well as some Purigen, and my water is now crystal clear.
The pads that I use in my aquarium have kept the water crystal clear. A new pad is changed every 30 days for me. At the end of the 30th day, the pad is essentially black and about to come apart. I've noticed some green algae on the pad, so I believe it's keeping some algae from returning to Since I have been using these polishing pads for two years, I have never had any problems with them. I love them because they fit my Fluval FX6 perfectly, and they do what they're supposed If this review was useful to you in any way, please let me know by clicking "helpful". This is why I use them in the bottom of my FX6's bottom tray. It not only gives the water a final polish before it goes back into the tank, but also helps to save Sometimes tiny particles or pieces break off from the biological media depending on which one you're using. Moreover, they can get to the impeller and other parts of the machine if they are not stopped. Therefore, they are great for final defense as well as a great filter.
