Questions & Answers

When this product is used in the water, does it release tannins? Is it also possible to reduce the pH level for a Betta fish with this? (I have 8 droplets in my tap water. Can you have zero percent)?

Tannins will be released into the water by cholla wood. The addition of wood to tanks can also lower the pH of water. Suppose you have Mollies, in which case you must adjust your pH to compensate for the lowered pH.

What are the effects of lowering the hardness of aquarium water with this product?

As far as I know, I use the logs in a dry environment for a leopard gecko. It does not affect the humidity levels, so I'm not sure if he needs some humidity. I am not certain whether it would work under water.

How long do these last in the aquarium? Do they dissolve or do they stay clean?

keep them in a small aquarium with baby turtles kicking them around, and so far I've had no problems with them falling apart. Neither do they seem to be dissolving, but I've only had them in the tank a short time. Thank you for your help!

The cherry shrimp would be safe if this were done. Can you tell me how many Dojo Loaches I have? Are there any chances that loaches will get inside?

The size of your shrimp will determine whether these will fit, I got these for my Amano shrimps, which I think are bigger than cherry shrimps smaller Amanos may fit inside, but you'll have to measure it yourself. Depending on the size of the loaches, them and cherries may fit in these, so I am sure it is safe

This is an excellent rhizome plant food! The same cannot be said I have updated These tank parts have been in my tank for a few weeks now
4/5

I can tell you without a doubt that they can become a real death trap for any kind of fish. In particular, I was delighted to receive the larger cholla wood sample that I received It took over half an hour to evict my large zebra danio (Tom). God, after spending 30 minutes trying to save him, he was able to be released. It would be easy to overlook that Jerry was missing, but I couldn't ignore what Jerry (my other zebra danio) was doing. I swam in the cholla wood and came up the other side. The young man was frantically trying to tell me that the life of his friend was at risk! I highly recommend you bury them halfway to close off the holes on each end if you are getting these for your tank with any kind of fish. Tom is so glad to be alive. This is a review from a long time ago The Amazon vouchers are amazing. I'm so thrilled I found them. During my search for driftwood that would provide an appropriate surface for my Anubias nanas and Java ferns as they grow, I came across some with holes and crevices. In my local lumberyard, I saw cholla wood for sale for It's only 99 cents each! That's kind of a hefty price, if I may say so. After ordering these on Amazon, I was worried that they wouldn't be the same as the ones at my local retailer. The moment I opened the box, I was immediately relieved of my fear of getting broken, ugly driftwood. My plants are able to grow on these as they continue to grow over time without being overcrowded on my substrate. They are the right size to fit my 6 gallon Fluval Edge without looking cramped, but are large enough to let them grow without overcrowding. These are great! I am so glad I found them. Prior to boiling these things, I rinsed them, then let them soak in water for a total of two hours, draining the water every 30 minutes, and then boiling again for a total of two hours. I also let them soak for seven days to release as much tannin as possible. I was able to sit these perfectly over my substrate, as they sunk completely. Get these cholla driftwoods if you are in need of it. If you pay $8 for a pack of 3, you won't A warning

My pics may have manzanita trees in them, but you don't need to mind them. It is taking a while for my Christmas moss to get used to its new environment.

I liked the size for a small tank, it turned water brown after a few hours of boiling and soaking, but it was good for the small tank It is not something I would The 3 I got look pretty much like the one in the picture
3/5

All the pieces are 4 inches long, one has a diameter of 1 1/8 inch, and the midpoint is 7/8 inch Tall It has a diameter of 3/4", the smallest has a diameter of 5/8", and it can't remain on the tank floor without weighting it During the entire process, I boiled them all three times Putting the mid-section of the wicks in the water twice overnight will give the best results A red cherry shrimp of this size is in a tank with a 5 gallon capacity. I placed the filter in the tank 24 hours after placing and it still turned the water a light brown colour within 24 hours. That doesn't please me very much, nor does it make me happy Though it isn't getting any darker, I think the shrimp like it, since they walked all over it right away. My plan is to use the other 2 as decoration for my 20 gal long when I set it up for the Axolotl I plan to get in a In this small 5 gallon I would not want more than one or the water will be far too brown for my taste. This is all- All in all, they're okay for small tanks, but after seeing them in person and seeing how brown just one can make the water after treating them to reduce that "problem", I doubt I'd purchase them If I were to purchase a RCS tank, however, I would probably choose a smaller piece of Malaysian driftwood. A tank in this shape would look more interesting overall, no matter how big or small it is.

I have a 3 gallon betta fish tank and this is perfect for it
5/5

I have a 3 gallon betta fish tank and this is perfect for it. After boiling it for about an hour to two hours, it turned into water logs. It looks awesome. To remove tannins from the wood, you must boil it! It is tannins that cause the water to turn Fish are not harmed by tannins, but boiling them for a minute can harm them Getting rid of it and soaking the wood in water took less than two hours.

Though I found the shrimp enthusiast focus on cholla wood a bit silly and cultish, the idea as a whole is very good
5/5

But as a born optimizer, I ended up throwing a piece in with my ghost shrimp just to make things interesting. During the soaking process, they swarmed the ice before it was fully soaked. The shrimp are always visible even some time later, when it is not yet the most recent harvest. The popularity of this game has surpassed that of their mario ball. The cons are You will notice your water turning dark tea when you first add it, and there will be brown bits everywhere for a It can either be pre- or post- You may want to soak for a week or two, or be prepared to change the water more frequently/vacuum the bottom. I now make sure that a chunk of cholla wood will always be a part of my shrimp tank loads for future runs.

Great job, I love As far as I can tell, I love it! The tank top is very cute, and it will fit my small tank perfectly! The water in your aquarium will definitely turn as dark as sweet tea if you don't soak and boil it
5/5

It will be a pleasure to introduce my fish to his new home in the near future! This is a quick update for 5/1/2017 The cholla wood has been very pleasing to me and my betta seems to be as well! It was impossible for me to find my Betta. When I looked again, I realized he had found a new hiding place. (Which was quite a shock to me, but once I tapped the wood with my net, he came out without any This is the first time he's ever had a tank set up like this! He loves it.

The small-sized I think it is the perfect size for my 1-year-old Tank with a capacity of 1 gallon
4/5

The size of these may have been small, but it turned out to be just perfect for my purposes. After reading reviews, I boiled them for several hours. As described, they gave off sediment, and in the process I mostly prevented them from floating away. However, they continue to emit something that looks like a clear slime, even after weeks and weeks have passed. Despite not picking at it, and the fact that his water doesn't seem bothered by it, I'm not sure what it is. In order to grow live aquatic plants into the ends of the log, I tried to get live plants to grow through its diameter. There are roots in the logs sent by the plants. My little tank's lights are not intense enough to grow plants on it, but unfortunately, I don't have any other options. When they are attached to the logs, it would look very nice in a better tank setup.
