My tank may be dying because of them, but I still love them
3/5

It is beautiful, provides extra surface area for bio filtering, can be used as hiding places and ladders, and looks absolutely stunning. However, prior to putting them in the tank they must be soaked so that they sink and additionally, they have created a very cloudy appearance in my tank. Almost all of them are coated in a layer of gel I was able to see this in clear white light. It took a whole day. There was gel in the clear water and cloudy water in the gel. Even though my fish seem to ignore me, I believe they are hardy fish from the wild that are used to living in tough conditions. It's been almost two weeks since the water got clearer (and there's been a large container of activated carbon directly in the tank) and the bio film on these is getting These would have been better soaked to death before I placed them in the water. It is best to use aquarium water from an established tank including some of the substrate taken out and put into soaking container, not tap water Biofilms feed on various foods in order to devour them all at once. don't have algae eaters, plecos, ottos, shrimp, or even snails in my tank, so I am not sure if it would be different with something like that in the tank, but I can only imagine that the bio film would get eaten away. In the event that the water does not clear, I will post an update. Update As of a day ago, they stopped clouding up my water, but they have now started to dissolve. It appears that they cannot tolerate the microorganisms found in freshwater tanks.

It's so beautiful to look at these wooden It's so beautiful to look at these wooden The environment in which they grow is an ideal environment for good bacteria, so it is essential to keep them Their value goes beyond just what they advertise
5/5

In all my tanks, I have them and my fish thrive. I also put tube worms in the hole for my African dwarf frogs so their food doesn't float to the top and they know where to find it. My ghost shrimp, mollies, neon, clouds and other critters are in the tank with it. The world over. I haven't lost even one snail in so many months.
Anyone who is having problems with nitrate, nitrite cycle and needs good bacteria built up should buy a few of these and leave them in the tank. Do not clean them. If you want all that slime, go for it.

There are some flaws, but the price makes it all worthwhile
4/5

Other reviews have noted that these pieces are of mixed quality (a couple are good, one is just okay). Boil them for a few days to kill anything that could be on them, reduce tannins and help them sink (I simmered mine for two You'll need to scrub hard. My tiles were very dirty, but soaking in water helped loosen them. A piece of mine has none of those components. As something else mentioned, one of the pieces barely has a hollow in the center. It is also too big for shrimp to appreciate, but it is also so small that it is in a fish tank too small to work well with shrimp species larger than this one. I am afraid this shrimp will end up getting stuck in it and possibly dying.
At the moment, I have them in a plant quarantine tank just to make sure they do not contain anything nasty. I am sure they will end up with my cherry shrimp.

These must be boiled to ensure that they are not contaminated
3/5

As stated in the seller's instructions, "either boil woods or soak them in hot water" is required to leach tannins from wood. It is very important to boil your shrimp as I seem to have a freshwater louse infestation in my shrimp tank now. Other than adding this wood and gravel to the tank, I have not changed anything else in the last 3 months You need to feed it every day. Over a week of soaking my woods made me so angry that I didn't boil them first. The tank in my house is contaminated, and It looks as though nothing can be done to remove this unwanted pest from my aquarium. The fact that I did not boil these first & foremost makes me very unhappy It is very difficult for me to recommend this product.

To prepare the wood, there is work to be done
3/5

According to other reviews and comments, I expected the wood to look the same as displayed on the display. One of the three products was similar, but the other two were different. There were 2 other ones that needed some work, and 2 others that needed some Both were boiled multiple times, and opening up the holes was accomplished with pipe cleaners, small drills, and small picks. Although the results were not as large as the displays and other results, they were still impressive nonetheless. It was still necessary to shave the bark from the tree with a box cutter since there were still pieces stuck to it. After using drill bits and a filing tool to drill and file, the task became clear at the end.

This shrimp is loved by Cherry Shrimp! My cherry shrimp didn't suffer from this problem and looked great as well
5/5

of pieces I got in my pack was nicely varied, only one of them was thin, but the other two more than compensated for it. I would buy a lot more of these for my next shrimp tank.

I love them so much, my shrimps love them too
5/5

It came in handy when I was looking for a way to hide my shrimps in my 5 gallons of water it's a fantastic piece! You should take them out for the first time before you add them to the tank and then boil and drain them a couple of times until you see the water is not brown. Leave them in the tank overnight and place them in the following I love how they look in the tank, as well as how happy my shrimps are with.

I guess that's ok
3/5

The smaller logs I found for my tank with shrimp were very exciting to me. During the half-hour boiling process, I boiled all three of them. The story would end with only one of the three sinking. As a result, I let the other two soak for two days and followed that up with a 30 minute boil with no results. Therefore, only one of the logs sank to the water's surface and can be used. The fact that there is only 1 is a bit disappointing since I needed more.
