You can put them in boiling water for 30 minutes and they'll all sink
In a pot of hot water, I let all four of mine soak for 4 hours My tanks soaked for 5 days while I changed the water multiple times each day then, after the last change of the water, I let them soak an additional day so that I could dechlorinate the tap water before placing Initially, the water appeared to be yellowish brown but started to clear up a few days later. The first two floated for quite a few days before sinking, but you need to be careful -- they might be seven or eight years old The diameter of these worms is very small, as they are only 8" long (barely). I was totally surprised at how small it was!
The state of cholla wood can differ depending on how it looks, but it usually develops fuz, especially if it is not boiled before it goes into the tank, or it is the beginning of black beard algae.
Hope the quality of the product improved and it wasn't as filthy as it used to be.

It was nice to look at two of them but one looked solid in the middle, as opposed to The wood was just thicker than I anticipated. Prior to putting them in my tank, I boiled them for about an hour. It stank for about a week after I emptied it. I was shocked to find out that the ammonia levels were so In addition to my weekly gravel vac and water change, we checked our plants for any rotting leaves, and all occupants and occupants were present and accounted for so there was nothing that was dead. The filter media was changed out. The method didn't seem to work. Several days ago, my tank had begun to smell of It occurred to me that maybe the wood was In order to prepare them, I soaked them in a bucket of water overnight (a large driftwood and these three pieces of cholla). The smell in my tank had improved by morning. I then began to pour fresh water over the cholla wood and began to see clumps of putrid disgusting mud/organic matter fall out of it. I literally had to pick through this rotting mess to find this one. An hour and a half went into cleaning out all the little holes with a long thin wire brush. The smell was so offensive that I felt like gagging. The products of this company clearly do not undergo quality control, so I would not recommend ordering this wood.
The idea of buying cholla wood is something I've never tried before, but I figured I would as it is I can put all the pieces in a pitcher to soak before adding to the liquid. I find the size convenient. There were five pieces in my shipment, but I still have two pieces floating in the container, so I am waiting to add them. Fish seem to like swimming in the log cave and around it.
Interestingly, I have never tasted cholla wood before. I boiled the very nice sized pieces (over & beyond Again) to get rid of the tannins. I then let it set in a bowl of water for a few days, changing the water every so often. It wouldn't surprise me if I'm overly cautious. In addition, I attached a few sprigs of hornwort as seen in the photo. My java moss has been added since then. I feed it to my guppy fries and ghost shrimp, and they love it.
As I would be hiding them unless they looked good, the pieces were smaller than I expected, but I did not mind. There were only two pieces that looked good out of the five, the rest were awful. Fortunately, I did not want to use them as These wood pieces were just a necessity for me since I have tons of shrimp, snails, and algae eaters in my aquarium. I provide my fish with good nutrition. but not least, they showed up on time and I got a bucket ready and went to the kitchen to boil To try and clean the wood, I ran each piece of wood in water while it boiled to wash off as much debris/dirt/residue I could. As soon as I made the bucket of boiling hot water, I placed some rocks on top of the wood so it wouldn't float away. As soon as I removed the rocks the next day. I was impressed that none of the pieces floated (actually I was quite impressed) the To be safe, I continued to boil the water every day and repeated my process every day for a week before putting the wood in our tanks. This is not bad for the price, but bear in mind that the wood will break down sooner or later. It can take up to two years for the siding to start getting soft and falling apart, depending on the thickness.
As it arrived, the wood had a range of diameters and about 5 inches in length. It was fairly well packaged. In order to make the wood float, I boiled it for about 40 minutes before I submerged it in a really like them, but I never get to see them anymore, so they are a bit too much. Please review
3 of the pieces I received had decaying bits of cactus still on them, I had to scrape most of those away, and even then some pieces were questionable (I ended up shaving off a few pieces). I would probably buy from these guys again when I need more pieces.
I am able to carry the pieces of wood around to chew on by my chins since the pieces are so light for how large they are. Wood that is suitable for chewing by chinchillas. There was about the same length among the pieces within the package and varying circumferences.
I bought it to keep my plecos and cats happy. Their favorite pastime is sucking on wood, according to my observations. This does not seem to be of interest to them. It doesn't seem that the product itself is at fault for this. I have put one stick in my 20 gal aquarium and it has held up well with no negative effects on water clarity. It looks good. I still feed it to my fish, even if they.
The last time I ordered these was for my new Caridina shrimp tank. I was very pleased with how quickly and nicely packaged the product was The case is a useful snap pouch if you use only 1 or 2 at a time. However, there were no instructions on how to prepare it for use (at least, I couldn't find them). Now that it's been floating in my tank for two days, I simply rinsed the one that I needed. My guess is that it will take in enough water at some point to sink, since I've seen it in other tanks, and my shrimp will have more to do with it! I saw this item as a very inexpensive decorative item and have been satisfied so far.
