Questions & Answers

What if my rabbit pees on it and I'm not at home to clean it up right away? Will it leave a stain? Is it possible to remove the stain quickly and cheaply if this is the case?

It shouldn't stain, in my opinion. When I wasn't home, my chinchillas peed on them, and all I had to do was wash them with soap and water.

Will they be comfortable if I leave them in a room with a temperature of 75/76 degrees and multiple stones in their cage? One chin at a time ?

Tiles and granite slabs do, in fact, lower the temperature. We have three and keep the temperature between 70 and 80 degrees Fahrenheit most of the time. If there is a power outage for a few hours, I will freeze the stones and granite slabs. It'll keep you cool all day. This granite slab, in particular, can withstand freezing temperatures.

What's the weight of it? I'd like to use it as a second-level c ?

It carries a significant amount of weight. When I received ours, I was taken aback by the weight; I'm not sure what the weight capacity for the second level of the cage is, but it appears that this will exceed it.

Is it okay if I put it in the freezer? Is it supposed to get cold when the room is cold?

It cools down on its own. Unless the room is very cold, it is always below room temperature.

I'm not even the owner of a chinchilla
4/5

However, if I did, I'd look for something similar to this. br>br>I use mine to charge my laptop's AC adapter, which can get quite hot at times. My floor is carpeted, and I needed something to put under it to keep it warm (I was previously using an empty cardboard box). This is a great way to get the job done! The granite doesn't absorb a lot of heat, and the AC adapter is much cooler than it was previously. It's also large enough that if someone comes over, I can fit two adapters on, or the adapter can slide a little and not fall off right away. It was a little on the expensive side, but it was money well spent.

These stones are perfect for sleeping and laying on
5/5

This cooling stone has become an obsession for my chins. I purchased two for each of my three chins. They enjoy sleeping and laying on the stones because it keeps them cool during the hot summer months. My chins are sleeping peacefully on the stones, as you can see: ) I'm in a wonderful mood. Because your chins can't stand the heat in the summer, it's a must to keep them cool. When the body overheats, it can result in death. So, if you live in a hot-weather state like me, please keep your chins cool!.

I have two chinchillas who are kept in separate cages, so I bought two of these to see how they would react
5/5

I wasn't sure what to expect from both chinchillas because they have such different personalities, but I was pleasantly surprised. First and foremost, we do not have air conditioning in our home; we do have window air conditioners, but due to the size of some rooms, they do not adequately cool the house. However, we make an effort. Anyway, according to this product, the block should be placed in the fridge before being placed in the cage. Both chins were unsure at first whether they wanted anything to do with it, but as time passed, they grew fonder of it. Both ended up employing it; one was more overt about it than the other, but both did so. One of the things I liked was that, because this is stone, it naturally cools down, so they could cool down even if I didn't put it in the fridge. I highly recommend it; I think the concept is fantastic, and I have been pleasantly surprised thus far. br>The shape is the ONLY thing I would change. I'm wondering if round is a little less dangerous because it's easier to avoid sharp edges.

It's perfect for guinea pigs! Unblemished and in excellent condition when it arrived
5/5

In the summer, I use it to keep my guinea pigs cool. Simply put them in a cage and they will "chill" on top of it. I've put it in the fridge if it gets too hot outside. They feel cool to the touch even if they aren't chilled, and they remain a cool spot for my boys. Resna stays cold for a long time after being chilled in the refrigerator, so I usually cover it with a small sheet of fabric for added comfort on little feet. The granite piece is attractive, easy to maintain, and functional. The size is ideal for my pigs; they have plenty of room to spread out if they so desire. I am pleased with my purchase.

Hamster gave it his blessing
4/5

When it gets hot outside, my hamster likes to sit on this. I wish there was a smaller version that wasn't nearly as expensive as this one. On Amazon, there were a few other brands available, but they were all more expensive, and I didn't want to spend fifteen dollars when I could get this one for the same price. I didn't want to return it because of a small chip in one corner.

Your pets, you, and your future children will all be outlived by Thing
5/5

I've had this for a month and my rats love it, even if I don't keep it in the fridge on hot days. It does attract pee; if you have rats, you know they will pee on anything that is smooth and flat (it's in their nature). Cleaning is simple because all it takes is a quick rinse. Because there are two sides to the cage, I recommend keeping the smooth side up in the cage to make cleaning easier. At three pounds, it's surprisingly heavy. This is fantastic because it weighs only 5 pounds and no small animal could move it. br>br>The best part is that it's nonporous, so unlike cheap porous 25c tiles, there's no lingering ammonia odor. Yes, it's a bit pricey for what is essentially a slab of stone, but come on, this thing will last for years, and it's well worth it.

It is multipurpose and works well with small animals
4/5

The Kaytee Chinchilla Chiller Granite Stone isn't just for Chinchillas; it'll appeal to a wide range of small animals. I currently have three fancy rats, and the weather hasn't been particularly hot (90 degrees outside, 74 degrees inside), so it's difficult to say whether or not they enjoy it. br>br>Aside from its intended purpose, this granite stone is also useful for keeping fleece in the cage down. I use fleece to line my rats' cage, and they occasionally pull it up, causing a mess, so this stone is ideal for holding it down because it's heavy and they can't pull the fleece out from underneath.

It's a hit with the gerbils
5/5

We've been hit by an unexpected heat wave and don't have access to air conditioning. Fans and cold food weren't enough for one pregnant gerbil and her older baby daddy, who were on the verge of death. Between nuzzling each other and continuing to have an active sex life, they appeared to be quite unhappy. TMI? Sorry for any inconvenience this has caused. It was heartbreaking to watch them sleep apart because of the weather. br>br>This is simply a piece of granite that you place in your refrigerator and then in the cage/tank to keep it cool for a while; the package recommends keeping two slabs on hand so you can swap them out - Your pets are not left waiting and becoming overheated while you relax. It was checked out by the gerbs, who promptly peed on it, and then dad happily settled in. Mom, on the other hand, is not pleased. Urine is easily removed and does not leave a stain on the surface. I put it in the freezer a few times to make it colder faster, then returned it to the freezer. It doesn't seem to keep the temperature as cool as I'd like. br>br>They seem to sleep soundly on it - together. They can avoid having a hard surface to try to get comfortable on by using toilet tissue as a cushion. I've been keeping and breeding gerbils for decades and would highly recommend it. There were no chips or broken parts on the slab when it arrived. If you do receive a broken one, I'm guessing it'll be due to poor delivery. Cats and small dogs may also benefit from this product.
