We were worried it might affect the quality of the water in the tank, so we took a sample to be tested. Two months later, the fish survived, so it is not poisonous to the fish or plants, but it is disappointing that the colors aren't as vivid as they used to be. I gave it 3 stars because it should be stated that the color fades after a couple of weeks. Apart from the disappointment issue, we also have a problem with safety since we have molly fish, and these are fish that tend to be resistant. Sadly, I do not know what other species are affected by the faded paint, but I think it should be warned to keep that in mind.

ACCESS TO YOUR AQUARIUM IS NOT PERMITTED! DISAPPOINTING! I can't believe it! Cute if you don't have an aquarium, but you can't use it. Take the 3 stars with a grain of salt. The ornament you've chosen is amazing! The only thing that needs to be done is Besides 30 minutes and a love for spongebob, you will also need some sandpaper and fish to make this. I spent about 30 minutes sanding the edges (see pictures) so they are not sharp or jagged so the fish doesn't get hurt. I didn't think it would have taken too long, but I know some people won't have the dedication, so I gave it.

In my attempt to fix the problem, I got a small cut, and yes, it can be fixed. As I mentioned above, the edges of the product hindered me from giving it a five star rating. Now that I had a nail file and sand paper, I was able to fix the problem. The inside is very small so this is quite a feat, but I'm sure we'll be able to do it. When you're finished, be sure to rinse very well, and then perform the "nylon stocking test" to ensure it won't damage fish with long fins.
In my case, I have a pretty robust species (Betta), but if you have a more delicate species that is vulnerable to water quality changes, this might not work. As for its stability in water, its material appears to be polyresin, so I'm fairly certain it will work well without a problem. That said, I am in no way an expert, so please use your best judgment.

The first place I saw this was in a pet store, but I finally decided to buy it from Amazon since it was cheaper there. Currently, I have a freshwater tank of 5 gallons with a Betta, three guppies, and a Starfish. When the pineapple is in and it looks wonderful, my Betta decides that it will become his new hangout spot after two weeks. Several more weeks later (it has now been in the tank for a month and a half) and the rocks around the pineapple begin to turn orange, and my Betta starts to become more lethargic and less energetic. It is hard to tell but the rocks are the same color as the pineapple but I didn't see any paint flakes come off. In an attempt to make the Betta feel better, I dumped the pineapple out of the tank and put him in another. It appears this is *BR>*BR>This picture is of the area where the pineapple was, it is easy to see where the pineapple sat and how it discolored the surrounding rocks.

My excitement and that of the people worked out in the end. I can see the merit to purchasing something that needs that much modification, but I do not think it's worth it for me.
