Aqueon Aquarium Algae Cleaning Magnets Glass/Acrylic, Medium

This tank fits into a standard 10 gallon glass tank in the small size. This was one of the cheaper options and it had decent reviews, so it was a good fit for me when I was on a tight budget. Fortunately, the glass pad can clean up the algae, however it may need a few passes, especially when dealing with more stubborn algae, but I believe this is normal for scrubbers of this nature. It falls pretty easily since the magnet isn't very strong and considering its weight it's not designed to navigate corners well. The tank is bulky and I find it a real hassle to clean around my HOB filter, heater, and live plants. My pad is bulky as I have a substrate with sand that prevents me from getting too close to the bottom without getting sand stuck in it. The thing is I have to retrieve it from the bottom of the container every time I use it. Even with a bigger tank, the sinking can be helpful, but honestly, with a 10 gallon tank, it won't be able to "float away" My plan is to replace it eventually with a small, floating type.

The product was bought to clean a 5 gallon acrylic desktop tank by Aqueon. I figured the manufacturer of the tank would have a product that would be appropriate for cleaning Despite my best efforts, the blue pad that is designed specifically for acrylic tanks left scratches on my Aqueon acrylic tank that was only a month old. Lucky me, I didn't run the entire front panel of the tank, but I tested just a small portion of it. It is still possible to see the scratched patches in the surface. As a bonus, the "small" is actually quite large. A full 3" long by 1" deep, as measured by the cleaning half of the magnet. It isn't including the weighted end at the bottom, which is a full 1" long by 3/8" It's impossible to manoeuvre this cleaning magnet around plants or decorations that are close to the walls of the tank without damaging these items. If I have to do a water change regularly, I think I may have to stick to using paper towels. The "small" might be perfect for larger - or most empty - tanks, but there isn't much reason to use it unless you have glass that can stand up to the abrasion caused by My opinion is that the coarse black pad should not be used- No matter how hard you try, it won't work.

I've had no problems with it. It's a no-brainer It is hard not to love The item was purchased for use with my Fluval Flex 15 Gallon Reef Tank. br>The magnet is super strong, so you should watch your fingers if you put them together close to each other. The pads are made out of glass and acrylic. You will be able to pick it up easier if it falls heads up if it falls disconnected from the magnet while inside the tank. I like how it runs really smoothly and is really effective in cleaning the glass. There is no need to worry about replacing the pads when they wear out. It looks like a deck of cards and is about the size of a quarter. Does a good job of fitting into tight spaces. The best part is that it was a few dollars cheaper on Amazon than at PetSmart or PetCo. This is a recommendation.
