Questions & Answers

Although they say it is not compatible with previous models, I still have the original battery installed. Does anyone know if it can be used instead of the SDF- Is there any way to verify this claim with a battery collar?

You are welcome! Thanks for your inquiry! There is a difference in the frequency of this collar compared to the SportDOG In-ear Collar Fence systems like Ground Fence and SportDOG Contain + Train Fence aren't compatible with this system.

Does anyone know where I can find a replacement battery for the SDFC Is there a way to purchase cr online?

This is a great question. Thank you for asking it. I need a replacement battery for my You may use 16365 for your SDF-based system

Would it be possible to run a double loop around a 5 acre property without blocking the signal at a 3 ft wide gate?

At the gate, you twist the wire so that the signal is cancelled out. Sportdog also provides support via their phone line if you need assistance or troubleshooting.

Did you experience good results with this product on a husky (3 yo)? There’s nothing much they care about with Are Husky, an olympic runner. ?

There is no husky in my house. It is important to train the dog correctly so that once it acknowledges the line, I gradually increased the level of shock until the dog stayed inside. I started with lots of flags and I went around the perimeter daily for several days, as described in the excellent instruction manual that comes with the kit. There are limits. In total, there were seven levels, and number three proved to be effective. What follows pertains There are limits. Activating the tone warning via the remote control is highly effective when it comes to obedience.

What's the reason? The fence I bought two months ago isn't compatible with the fence I have! Honestly, I'm at a loss as to why you would change something without explaining the differences
3/5

Would you use the previous version of the software if this isn't compatible with it? Yeah, that's true. We make gear the way we would design it. You've got to be kidding me. Our last model is still in use by many of us. Despite not even being in the ground yet, mines are already operating. The information is already outdated. Please accept my sincere apologies.

This is a game changer
5/5

A friend of mine has a Doberman that is 18 months old and needs plenty of exercise. We are having difficulty keeping him from disappearing into the woods while doing his training. Our usual method for blowing off steam is to take him to the dog park, but that isn't always possible. In the past few months, I've looked into physical fencing of all kinds, but the amount of free space I'd like him to have is prohibitive. Therefore, I researched invisible fences and ordered this product.

Installation was very easy. In addition to the large yard, there are entrances to a few paths in and around the woods on three sides. I purchased 500' of 20 gauge invisible fence wire from the home improvement store after using up the 1000' of wire provided by the contractor. In all, we looped almost 1500 feet of wire around the perimeter of the yard. As luck would have it, we had a crack running across the driveway at around the halfway point between the house and the road that we filled with goop and wired. In the rest of the yard, I was able to use the edger attachment on my weed whacker to cut trenches where needed and bury the wire. Instead of burying it all, we used landscaping staples to secure the wire under the bushes The rest will be done by nature. To accomplish this, I used a drill to twist the wire that crosses through the containment area and run it into the garage where the transmitter is located. The transmitter was set to trigger the collar when the receiver was about 5' away from the wire. The collar was set to its lowest setting (2), and my wife and I both put it on our arms to feel how it felt - it felt comfortable. This is a minor tickle that is unbearable. The collar and flags had been planted and the collar had been charged up, so it was time to start training. The leashed dog appeared to be enjoying himself as we walked around the perimeter. We would stop at random flags and tell him "no!" on the way, and walk him past the flags to trigger the alarm beep and tell him "no!" Once he was close enough to the wire, we would tell him "no!". All that was needed was a little bit of time. My husband and I thought we would be following the training guide for about a month, but no matter if he's chasing birds, rabbits, balls, the kids, or our other dog, the guide doesn't seem to have any effect Any flags he comes across will not be touched by him. While we are leashed, he stops and lies down when we get closer to the flags. This has been an incredible game changer for us and our active boy and we cannot recommend it highly enough.

There is nothing like it to be found anywhere else! Make sure you know how to use it before you begin training your dog with it! The dog must be taught to learn this behavior by you, not just by you attaching it to him! The following is also true You can easily teach it to the dog if you put it on a fence

You should not make it a pathway through the yard, as it would be confusing for dogs, who might become stressed and stop using the whole In addition DO NOT use 24 hours a day. You should not use it for more than 12 hours a day, according to the instructions. In the event that you don't take these off, the neck of your dog will develop sores, and you won't be able to use them Knowing from experience is the best way! In general, we try to give them more nights without them than with them on, even if they're not always taken off at night. As a result, they are given a break and I believe they do not land on the same exact spot every day when we put them back. We keep our dogs outside for the day, but we let them in the garage at night. If you use any kind of shock collar, I recommend that you follow the same plan. There are many settings to choose from. In the event that you do not read the instructions, you might return them thinking that they do not work. The easiest way to operate these shock collars is to learn how to turn them on, set the shock intensity, and to set the boundary space (how far the alert/shock extends from the wire). For each of these factors, you'll want to find the right setting based on both the size of your yard and your dog's attitude. As for the flashing green light when it's charged, and flashing red when I need to charge it, I like It is a quality product that lasts for a long time. We are very satisfied with it. Weights below 12,000 ftlbs) will produce satisfying results. I urge you to get these, but please read the instructions and start at the very beginning. You will only move up if you need to. I get my 110 pound dog to jump high in the air and bark at level 4. It's all out there in the warnings I really like these. The older version is smaller compared to this one (we recently upgraded and are happier with this one for size and functionality).

A good fence should I don't like how the collar looks
3/5

We only needed to use the extra kit once, so we don't need to worry about a smaller fence. There is a lot of difficulty in fine-tuning the warning distance in our yard and the distance varies from one area to another. For now, we put white flags where the beeps start, and it seems to work well. The collar design is absolutely horrible. However, I do like that it can be recharged, but if I were given a star rating it would get zero. The collar has to be removed from our dog during the night because he crates. No matter whether your dog crate training or not, the collar should only be worn for up to 12 hours in a row, according to its instructions. This collar is made of rubber, and the buckle is in the shape of a belt buckle. When you know it will be put on and taken off every day, why design a rubber collar that must be buckled up like a belt (and refitted) for every use? The dog would be much better served by an adjustable collar that could be set for a size and sized as it grew. To change the shock strength on the collar, you have to press the buttons on the collar in this sequence (there are no The instructions were easy to follow. However, as our dogs grow and need to have their strength adjusted, the chances of me remembering how to do it at a later date are slim. There must be a manual for them, or I could look up their information. But this seems to be a simple task. The pros are -Covers a large area - Rechargeable collar - Adjustable shock -
Cons -Not rated for children under 3 years of age. There is an issue with the design of the collar belt buckle that prevents daily wear
The warning beeps are not consistent with the shock distance
Adjusting the shock level is more challenging than what it should be.
