Questions & Answers
The answer is yes. When there is a break in the wire, the alarm goes off.
That's exactly what I did. I bought this Yardsafe and a 1000ft spool of the Extreme Dog fence wire in I found it to be effective. Several caveats need to be noted. If you want a pre-installed extreme dog fence, the 14 gauge model would be a good choice Your loop should be made with twisted pair wire - I have a house and am away from it In regards to- Connection between the service panel and the service panel. Wire should be twisted in groups of about 90 feet, but twirling 50 feet of wire that is any gauge can be a total pain. Now just the wire between the two is more than $190. In spite of that, it works. In addition, the terminals on the PetSafe transmitter and surge protector are way too cheapo for 14 gauge wire, so what I did was wire nut the 14 gauge twisted pair ends onto the supplied yellow 20 gauge (short dongles) and plug those into the terminals. With my Labrador, I am still trying to figure out the system. Though it's better than nothing, quite frankly, this is not what you would call a glowing recommendation. In as soon as I am comfortable with this, I may write a review.
A good wire to use is 18 gauge stranded copper wire that is XLPE insulated with a copper core. It's designed for loops, and yields excellent results.
No matter how heavy you are, you are not considered.

I had two 100lb yorkies and this was the best thing I could have bought for them. It only took 30 minutes for them to learn how to stay in the yard. My hands were swollen from laughing so hard! It is a very good product, but I want to give it four stars only because the plastic housing for the collars is thin and the prongs are vulnerable to breaking This appears to be a common complaint in many reviews where people complain this way. There can be problems with that, I can see. I have had pretty good luck with mine so far. As long as the prongs don't break, I almost gave up after reading all those bad reviews. I was forced to look for other alternatives because of it. Among the features I wanted to purchase, only Yardmax was of enough interest to make me buy the product. The PetSafe brand. Take a look at your reviews and listen to your customers. don't understand how PetSafe could have so many bad complaints and reviews about the cheap plastic collar and prongs breaking and Dogtra manufactures excellent training collars, and I own a set of theirs. It does not matter how hard you smash them, they will not "- " Update [ UPDATE ] - The reason I am changing my review to 3 stars from 4 stars is because of these Yard Max Add-Ons In reality, the pieces of cheap plastic junk that come with "On Collars" and the original collars are truly ugly. Already, I have replaced two collars at a cost of $145 each, now I have to do it again!.
With this new technology, YardMax, you no longer have to use traditional invisible fences when your dog is too smart to be contained. I followed standard training techniques (I even had 3 training sessions with The Invisible Fence Company), and my dog was always well behaved on the leash. With traditional systems, the dog gets warning beeps, followed by static correction at the fence line. Once I had let my dog run loose in the yard, she soon realized (when she spotted a squirrel in the neighbor's yard) that she could run through the fence at full speed to avoid getting corrected. In spite of coming back occasionally, she continued to do this almost every day It was her favorite game to taunt me while I chased her around the neighborhood. After she almost got hit by a car (thank goodness for the alert driver), I had it with my old system (Extreme Basics kit). The system was ordered, the panel was replaced only, and the controller was not Tested the system in YardMax mode (I needed to reverse the boundary directions To be sure of successful testing, make sure to test carefully & The settings will be adjusted She was surprised to see that on day 2, she ran through the fence, playing 'chase me down the street' but she was not surprised when the correction continued. Her tracks were followed. A static correction lasts for fifteen seconds on the other side of the fence line, until the dog comes back, so in this case, my dog ran around just outside the fence and cried out, but she obeyed my calls to come after about five seconds of static correction. It was as if she had run into my arms and I was holding her He grew up to be a changed dog! After about a week, she was following an intriguing scent, followed by a peculiar look, and As soon as the first beep/ correction sounded, I immediately turned around and checked in a different part of the yard. I stepped one step beyond the fence, but yelled immediately after the first beep/ correction. As soon as she was out of sight of the fence, she took several steps back in the yard. She won't come within 8 feet of the fence line anymore, just to make sure. You can no longer chase squirrels, dodge traffic, and jump over lines of fire Running down the street playing "chase me down". That took care of the problem! As for my dog, he is also trained to go through my parents invisible fence (a traditional system) and how to get around it I am happy to say that since switching to the PetSafe YardMax kit at my home, she learned to respect the boundaries at my parents' home as well. However, I cannot comment on the quality of the wire, connectors, etc. concerning the other components of the system. I would like to point out that To install my boundary wire with the Extreme Basics kit, I created a channel in the grass with my weed-whacker, ran the wire flush to the ground, and then used my weed-whacker to cut the wire. To secure the lawn, I hammered lawn staples every few feet. This worked very well and saved time and money (vs. a trencher rental). It will be interesting to see how the collar holds up since other reviewers have complained about its durability & performance The replacements are on the expensive side ($150) in comparison with other brands, & There is only one I think the collar battery life has been great since I've been using it. I wish it came with two collars from the beginning! Each 2 weeks, I recharge the collar overnight and let it dry There is no need to charge it more than three weeks before it goes flat. * PetSafe It would be more useful to have a training remote as an option, one that communicated directly with the YardMax collar, as some other systems do. That would offer me greater value than the PawzAway products that can be attached.
The first few days have been great! This essay will be updated if there are any issues.
One of the units is a The year is An old puppy who recently learned to run away. Until now, they had learned that if they ran fast in the driveway, the old system (a basic PetSafe transmitter/collar) would only give them a minimal correction. Rewriting my essay was the right decision for me Instead of passing the cable through a pipe six inches beneath the driveway, let the wire go through a cut in the Even though the signal improved and was generally more reliable, the damage already had that minimal correction would be given to them, so they kept running and escaping (mainly to go to the In that case, we decided to give Yardmax a try. It was my first attempt with the unit in the "traditional" mode, so I connected it to the existing wire. Despite its supposed superiority over the old unit, the puppies still managed to escape, even when the fence was set at a very low height. As soon as the unit was switched to Yardmax mode, the sensitivity was adjusted such that they would reliably set off the collars when they were held in the air about 30 inches. Exactly! Thank you so much! On the first attempt of the dogs to escape, his person made a very long correction to him. Our dog didn't realize that he had to run back in the yard. So we decided to do long lines retraining. Having successfully tempted both of them a couple of times, we have high hopes that the fence will work pretty well. Consequently, our team of escape artists has been stopped.
