Selected User Reviews For Dremel PawControl Dog Nail Grinder and Trimmer- Safe & Humane Pet Grooming Tool Kit- Cordless & Rechargeable Claw Grooming Kit for Dogs, Cats, and Small Animals 7760-PGK

The gadget works perfectly, but - WARNING - The manual that comes with the package contains incorrect information
5/5

First, this review debunks some key misinformation in the product manual, and then it offers some initial thoughts on the Dremel tool. br>br>The images accompanying this review depict what is discussed below (photos of the device and pages from the Dremel manuals and documents). br>br>The 'pet grooming attachment' on this Dremel 7760 model creates a safety zone between the sanding/grinding disc and the upper part of the animal's nails (where the nerve-endings are). It's possible that laden fast will be harmed). A nose piece that goes around the head of the Dremel tool (and surrounds the tool's output shaft) is included with the nail grinder attachment. A clear plastic cup is included in the kit. If the gap between the grinding disc and the flat surface on the outside of the cup, where the dog's toe pad will rest, is too small, the grinding disc could easily reach the quick; if the gap is too small, the grinding disc could easily reach the quick. Only the very tip of a nail can touch the grinding disc if it's too big. The knobs that protrude inside the plastic cup have a branching indented path on the nose piece. look at the illustrations - 'Depth adjustment' can be achieved in three different positions. It's critical to get the gap right. putting the cup in the right place br>br>The Dremel 7760 comes with a product manual that instructs you to use the incorrect setting. On p. 'Position 3' is specified on page 16 of that manual (see illustrations attached to these comments). If you use 'Position 3' on a Dremel 7760, the cup will not fit, and its underside will hit the sanding wheel well before Position 3. The reader is directed to Dremel guide AT01- on the same page of this manual. More information on how to use the pet grooming attachment can be found at PGA. The Dremel 7760 is not listed among the models in that manual, which is available online (p. 11 - (For a visual representation, see the illustration that comes with the photos. ) 'Position 2' is the proper setting for the Dremel 7760. This leaves a 1/4" gap (to protect the quick) and is the setting described in the tool's 'Quick Reference' guide (in tiny print). The commonly recommended practice of reading the product / user's manual for a new device is risky in this case - There is incorrect information in the product manual. The 'Quick Guide' contains unique and accurate information. br>br>About the application: br>br>We were prompted to purchase this because the only groomer in the area recently raised the price for dog nail trimming. The cost of this 10-pack of trimmings has dropped from $12 per trimming just eight years ago. The cost of a minute task has risen to $27 (plus tax and a tip) in increments of $2 and $3. br>br>This is a review from someone who has been using an 'antique' Dremel'moto-cutter' for a long time. tool' (AC powered) with a variety of accessories on fine and detailed projects for over 25 years (and it still works). This new unit is extremely durable (as one would expect from Dremel) and offers increased mobility and utility because: due to the fact that it can be recharged - There is no need for the user to be tethered to a power outlet or cord. This tool is also very quiet on the '1' power setting, which is very useful for its intended use. level setting (the slowest speed, which is also the recommended speed for pet nails). The tool is comfortable to hold, solid but not too heavy, and appears to have good battery technology (an 18650 Lithium Ion battery, presumably). br>br>With our dog, we've only just started the acclimation process - We start the grinder, place it on a table, the floor, or across a knee, and place a very small piece of dog treat next to the new, strange, 'noisy' object; after about a dozen repetitions, our dog approaches the new sound and plucks up the treat without hesitation. Before we actually use this on his nails, we'll move on to other accustomization steps (the product manual has a good section on this, p. 17), and we'll update this review as soon as we've completed it. br>br>(A card included with the product advertises a replacement pack of the special sanding disks (apparently a pack of 10) for a hefty $3 on Amazon. 25) If the following statement appears in a review: 'In exchange for my honest review, Dremel has provided me with a free accessory pack. ' ' OK - This review is honest, though it does not fully describe how long it took to navigate through all of the Dremel online manuals in order to find the correct depth adjustment information.

SOMETHING THAT WORKS FOR LARGE DOGS AT LAST
5/5

On a scale of one to ten, I'd give it a nine. I'd only had it for a week and had already used it on my large dogs three or four times. This trimmer is one of my favorites. Finally, a trimmer with enough power for large dog claws. However, it is so powerful that you should only use it on the first or second setting and for less than 1 second per nail. You'll burn the dog's claw if you go any higher. To get my dogs used to the low whine tone, I started them on the number one setting. When I used it for the third time, I moved up to the number 2 setting, which is fast enough.

For puppies, it's better than a regular dremmel, but they still have to put up with it
4/5

For puppy toe nails, I prefer this product to a regular dremmel. br>However, the beast must learn to tolerate the entire toe nail procedure. br>With the exception of the speed control, which could be a little looser, the product is very easy to use with one hand. Turning on or accelerating the speed usually requires two hands, making a surprise attack impossible. br>My dog is still in the cajoling stage (treats), but she's getting better at accepting the trimming experience. Level 1 is the suggested rotary blade speed. Level 2 is the one I use. It's quicker, which is a plus. Just be careful not to be too aggressive with the nail. br>I find that the rotary blade trims to a square shape, which can still be painful if a puppy likes to use her front paws to attract your attention. If you move your toenail from side to side, it will rock back and forth. You can get a nice bevel on the talons by using the side (or the rotary blade). Overall, this is a good product, but it isn't a miracle worker. Trimming experience still necessitates further training.

The nail file was filthy, worn, and used when it arrived! As you can see in my photos, this item arrived used
3/5

It's dirty and covered in the fur of another dog. Someone has already used the file attachment on their dog, so it's worn. There was no indication that I would be buying a used nail file, and why should I pay full price for something that had already been used?.

The Dremel Pawcontrol is fantastic! Because I have three dogs, I find this particularly appealing
5/5

There are several speeds to choose from. It performs admirably. One of the dogs immediately allowed me to use it, while the other is still getting used to it. She uses it as a back massager at the moment. I'm glad I purchased it, though. The traditional nail clippers used to make one dog cringe in agony. He doesn't seem to mind any longer. The nail guard, I believe, gave me confidence in achieving the ideal angle. It comes highly recommended from me. In exchange for an honest review, Dremel has provided me with a free accessory pack. Even if I didn't get the accessory pack, I'd say the same thing. This is a fantastic tool.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY AS THIS IS EITHER A SCAM OR A DUMB DESIGN
3/5

This is just a regular cordless dremel with a strange and nonfunctional adapter that is supposed to be for "trimming" pet nails. After trying to use it and inspecting it for a long time, I'm not sure if this is either a poor attempt by Dremel to deceive customers, or a completely stupid design that hasn't been tested! Please read the other reviews and look at the picture; I am not the only one who has noticed this! I assume the three settings on the plastic cap are for the length of a nail trim. If you put it together correctly, it will only work in position 1! The disk becomes stuck against the plastic cap in positions 2 and 3 and will not rotate. Also, this plastic cap has an aperture for the pet nail to get to a disk at a "right" angle, which I assume it is for. IT DOESN'T WORK AT ALL! The nail should be an inch long or longer for this to work; I have a 32lb dog, and her nail couldn't get to the disk if I used this side of the cap; however, if I used the other end, the nails ended up very sharp; I had to remove the whole thing and try to smooth the edges with a regular grinder. THIS ENTIRE EXPERIENCE HAS BEEN A WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY!.

Doesn't do what it says it will
3/5

The guard was struck by a flat grinder. My Yellow Lab is my pet. Way too thick, and the dog can't get into a comfortable or easy position because of the head. It appears that the performance was hastily put together with little thought given to it. br>I suppose the Dremel tool is fine in and of itself, but this is a farce. Don't bother with the brain. Because I am too lazy to return it, I am stuck with it. However, you can save money if you don't want to spend it. I'm not sure which tool is superior, but they must all be superior to this.
