To begin, I'd like to state that I've never cut my Labs' nails and have always left it to the groomer to do so. He hadn't been in a while, and his nails appeared to be quite long. When I saw/read about the importance of not cutting the internal nerve when trimming a dog's nails, it made me very nervous about attempting it myself. br>I assumed that a machine like this would make things easier, and boy was I wrong! The machine is comfortable to hold, and the motor runs quietly and smoothly! br>I tried the suggested method of turning the machine on near my dog for about 5 minutes, and he didn't seem too bothered. I believe the initial sensation was what concerned him the most, but once I reached the third nail, he became much more relaxed. br>When I use this tool, I feel very confident, and I'll definitely use it in the future to keep his nails properly trimmed. br>I've only used it three times since I bought it, and I've only charged it once. br>I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a simple and safe way to trim nails without any prior experience, for both you and your pet.

I did a lot of research and spent a lot of time looking at nail grinders. I was well aware that a loud device would frighten my dog (she's a wimp!). My son does an excellent job of clipping her nails, but they are still jagged and get caught in the carpet from time to time. This unit appealed to me because it stated: 1. It was quiet, and there were only two things going on: 1. It had a speed that could be changed at any time. br>br>When I first switched it on, I told my wife, "Hey, this thing is really quiet. " She inquired as to what I had been discussing. She couldn't hear it because she was just across the kitchen. When we turned it on in the presence of our dog, she became intrigued and began sniffing it. She acted as if it were a toy. We started out slowly to ensure we didn't over-grind (there was also less vibration this way), and our dog didn't seem to mind. It's incredible that a dog who is terrified of paper bags isn't afraid of this noise. Her nails are finally smooth and snag-free, and she couldn't be happier with the product.
