Questions & Answers

I trimmed my dog's nails and they broke on the sides. Is this because they weren't sharp enough?

Hello,br>br>I've had the same problem as you and suspect it's the same thing. br>br>I believe it's because my dog's nails are so big that the clippers don't last as long and aren't as sharp. Even if I cut very small sections of my dog's nails quickly, I rarely get a "clean cut" and frequently end up with frayed or chipped edges. br>My dog is a cross between a bull mastiff and a Staffordshire bulldog.

Is this something that can be done with a small dog?

All four of my dogs are clipped with these clippers. Our Pit Bull is 62 pounds, our Rat Terrier is 31 pounds, our Dachshund mix is 16 pounds, and our Chihuahua is 13 pounds. On all of them, they're fantastic. When it comes to puppies and kittens, I would move the guard out of the way and cut by sight.

Is it possible for left-handed people to use these?

Yes. I, too, am a lefty, and I had no issues.

What exactly is the function of the protective guard?

It performs admirably. I'm not sure about small dogs; it seems like it would cut them too short, but it worked perfectly for my medium and larger dogs. The guard simply keeps the nail from going all the way through the clippers and cutting it too short; there's no guesswork involved.

It wasn't nearly as bad as I had anticipated
5/5

While comparing different brands in my cart, I accidentally purchased two different nail clippers; however, I've determined that they're all the same thing, so don't sweat it. I declined a dremmel because I was concerned that it would be too intense or ticklish for my dog. It is no longer necessary, in my opinion. br>br>I got my dog when he was around nine years old, so he should be around eleven years old now. His toenails are thick black and he is a black Labrador. He was having difficulty getting up on the hardwood floor recently, and I noticed it. We skipped over the puppy section of the manual, to be honest. the part where it says you should clip their nails every one to two weeks. br>br>As a result, I put him in the tub on the bath mat. I watched a few more YouTube videos, which greatly boosted my self-assurance. I decided the guard was pointless on the first naiI and moved it up so I could see better. I progressed past the crumbly part to a dark center by removing shavings one at a time. When I start pinching and notice the nail giving a little, I immediately let go and stop. I only got the very tip of a quick out of all ten toes. There was no blood, but a pin-sized spot of liquid could be seen. To finish, I clipped a small layer of the thick top side to round it out and ostensibly aid the quick recede. To first-timers from a first-timer, the key is to take it slowly and steadily. It took me more than a half-hour to complete. My job was made easier by the fact that my dog was old and just lay there the entire time. br>br>For as long as I've known him, his nails have always been on the floor. I like the sound of his pads on the floor now that he's more "stealthy. " He can now get up easier because he has more traction. This product comes highly recommended!br>br>Of course, there's a picture of the old man with his new pedi. which he would like me to refrain from touching for the time being.

This is my first time using a clipper
5/5

I'm new to the site. It took me a month to summon the courage to go ahead and do it. These clippers did an excellent job. br>If you're a first-time clipper like me, watching some YouTube videos will help, and you'll know you've got good clippers with these. br>I was overjoyed. br>I was even more terrified because my dog had those black nails. For me, she was a guardian angel. Her nails were incredibly long. br> I removed the tips. They're still a little long, so I'm going to wait a week or so before cutting them off.

I've tried a lot of dog nail clippers, and these are by far the best! These nail trimmers were purchased for Lilly, my nervous, split-prone jack
5/5

Everything has been tried. We've tried dozens of nail clippers (which split her nails and didn't always cut all the way through the first time), a dremel (which was very noisy and stressful for LilIy), more frequent walks on the pavement, and groomers (which were expensive and still split her nails). br>br>These are the only clippers I've found that don't split her nails and cut through them without effort. I don't have to worry as much about cutting her nails too short because of the nail guard. Her nails are now quite long, so I'm following the directions and cutting a small amount off each week to allow the quick to fade. This purchase has made me very happy. br>br> It's made my life a lot easier, and Lilly doesn't seem to mind getting her nails clipped as much now that the procedure is much more painless.

Perfection in every way
5/5

We have three dogs, two of which are large breeds and one of which is only four months old (but already weighs more than 50 pounds). I bought these clippers to help our puppy get used to having his nails done, as well as to clip the nails of our other two dogs. One of them despises having her feet touched, but she handled them admirably when I applied them to her! She'd had her hair cut too short on several occasions (due to a bad groomer), and these worked perfectly! I even clipped our older Pyrenees' nails, which never need to be cut because she is outside 24 hours a day, and they glided right through her tough nails! I will definitely purchase another pair if/when these clippers break or become dull.

Dull
3/5

My dog's nails were split in half. Let me begin by saying that I rarely write negative reviews, but I chose this product because it was an Amazon Choice and had a lot of positive feedback. I have experience trimming the nails of dogs and puppies. I've fostered over 300 cats and dogs, and the majority of them have needed their nails trimmed. I was looking forward to receiving these because the trimmers I had been using for years and had cut thousands of nails with had become dull. There are five dogs in my household. When my Pitty's nails were trimmed, she was terrified. It took me three years to get to the point where I could trim all 20 nails at once, and I started with her today. OMG. Her nails were crushed and split as a result of using these trimmers. I couldn't go any further. I didn't want to cause her any more anxiety. I'm at a loss for words. they should be returned.

Clip with assurance
5/5

In the past, I've purchased clippers and been terrified of cutting into my dog's vein. A guard prevents more than a small portion of the hair from being clipped. I examined each nail, recognizing that the vein was misaligned, and confidently clipped it. br>I believe that negative reviews have misrepresented the situation, as shown in the photo.

Clipper - Awesome It performs exactly as it should
5/5

My dog is fine with me cutting his nails; however, because his nails are clear, I can see his veins easily and know when to stop. These clippers have a guard on them that only allows you to cut a small amount of hair at a time - If you know what you're doing, you can remove the guard and cut as large a chunk as you want; in my case, dealing with a clear nail, I was able to move the guard to the side so I could cut faster and more efficiently, and my dog wouldn't be irritated by the situation. Other reviewers on this site gave negative feedback because they had no idea what they were talking about! Simply put, if your dog's nails aren't clear and blood veins are difficult to see, begin by clipping very small lengths at a time, as any vet will tell you. The clipper is made of high-quality metal that is both strong and durable. br>br>Don't give a product a bad review just because you don't understand how to use it! It was ideal for our needs!.
