Questions & Answers

What's the most you can put on? My senior German shepard is close to 100 pounds. Will it be sturdy enough for a large dog if I add more hardware to help stabilize it?

Hello - I wouldn't take the chance, in my opinion. My yellow lab, who is about 80 pounds, is my pet. She only has three legs, and when she got halfway up the ramp, the ramp split in half. She, of course, fell off the ramp and injured her front paws, and I'm sure she'll never use another "ramp" type device again. For the safety of your "baby," I would strongly advise you not to use this item. I am unable to recommend another product, but I have no reservations in strongly cautioning and advising against this one; if you have any further questions, I will do my best to answer them.

In September 2016, I bought this ramp. At first, it was fine, but now my 8-pound dog is sliding on it. What is the best way for me to resolve this problem? thanks?

THIS IS FOR THE RESULTS OF THE NEXT FEW QUESTIONS: br>Remove the entire carpet. Any carpet will eventually become a little slick after repeated use, no matter how "good" a quality they put on the ramp in recent years. This is why so many people trip and fall while descending their stairs. So rip up the carpet, head to your nearest big tool and appliance store (Lowe's, Home Depot, whatever you have) and get some non-flammable materials. skid. Cut some wide strips to size and lay them all the way up your ramp (along with the flat part at the top, of course). Your baby will be able to grip the ramp floor all the way up and then push off onto the bed with a small grip at the top. SLIPPING/SLIDING IS NO LONGER AN OPTION. Also, I discovered a bonus benefit that I adored! Every time they cross a non-trafficked area, they are greeted with They're having their nails trimmed, skid. I discovered that I didn't have to trim their nails nearly as often as I had previously! —As for the ramp breaking, I had a 60 pound pit bull puppy at the time who I KNEW would want to use the ramp the little ones were using (because she had NO IDEA she wasn't as small as they were), so I reinforced it by cutting down a piece of 1/4" plywood and attaching it to the bottom of the ramp (about a 1/2" from the edges). Then, somewhere in the middle, I added two 4x4 legs where her weight MIGHT be an issue. Not everyone wants or needs to go through all of this. These are just a few suggestions to help you get started with the first few questions. I liked this ramp and plan to order a few more, but I'm planning on building a house and need to know exactly how many and where they will go. By the way, I'm a girl (well, 50 years old, but still a girl at heart) who figured out how to make this ramp work for my doggies, whom I adore and love with all my heart, and it wasn't even that much work or money (by the way, Lowe's cut my plywood to the size I wanted, so just ask). It's extremely simple and inexpensive. It's so worth it to get on the ramp. I hope this has been of assistance.

Is there a limit to how much weight a dog can bear?

I was unable to use this product. At the time I bought it, I had two dogs, one weighing 7 pounds and the other weighing 10 pounds. The surface was too slick for either of them to use. The holes were misaligned to the point where it couldn't be fully assembled, but it worked well enough for me to try it out with my very light dogs. I wouldn't recommend this product because it had a fairly steep pitch and a slippery covering, as I recall.

Make sure you know how to use a ruler
3/5

This item was purchased for a small dog who is 11 years old. Because I'm a retired teacher, the majority of my furniture was assembled by me. As a result, I had faith in my ability to construct this ramp. I was pleased with the appearance of the box as well as the directions when I first opened it. All of the pieces were in place. Unfortunately, I was unable to assemble it according to the instructions because the person in charge of drilling holes did not measure accurately. Six sets of washers and bolts can be seen in the accompanying photo. Because the holes don't meet, these can't be used. I'll have to make do with some carpenter's glue, a drill, and some nuts and bolts because I need the ramp and it's too heavy to repackage and send back. I was hoping to give this a high rating, but the quality of the work is just too important.

It's Better to Have a Carpet! This ramp has received a lot of positive feedback
5/5

It's a bit pricey, but unlike most others, it's not made of plastic. The carpeted surface, which many claim is extremely slippery, was the source of my concern. Although the manufacturer claimed it had been fixed, other, much older reviews stated that it had not been. I waited because the ramp had been marked as "unavailable" for some time. I jumped at the opportunity because it had just become available. I got it the same day I ordered it. Before putting it together, I opened it up and examined the carpet. THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN RESOLVED! The carpet isn't particularly dense, but it's also not particularly slick. Although the assembly was simple, the instructions could be improved significantly. It took about 30 seconds for my little 13-pound dog to figure out how to use it. Our dog no longer wakes us up when he wants to get into bed now that it's in place. In addition, the ramp appears to be a piece of furniture. The purchase has exceeded my expectations.

Trying to prevent a Dachshund from jumping is akin to attempting to prevent a bird from flying
5/5

My 12 y. This ramp is a big hit with the Dachshund! My eight-year-old does, too. Rat terrier is a breed of dog. My Dachshund had pinched a nerve in his back and narrowly avoided IVDD despite the fact that neither of them have arthritis. But, because my pillow top queen bed is off its frame and STILL sits very high, I needed this ramp, which has the lowest incline up to high surfaces of all the ramps I looked at. The other ramps, on the other hand, went almost straight up (if you needed to set the ramp for a high bed or something). And, since I don't have a Camel, but rather a short and long weenie dog, that crazy incline won't work for us. Yes, that means this ramp is longer, which means it takes up more room in my bedroom, but whatever works! Trying to prevent a Dachshund from jumping is akin to attempting to prevent a bird from flying. So, at such a low cost for such a sturdy, well-built ramp, it's a no-brainer! Even though the carpet has been modified, as I've read, my dog can still run up and down the ramp without slipping, despite the fact that it is still a little slicker than, say, a shag carpet. But don't worry; just go to Walmart and buy some foamy, squishy shelf liners and staple them to the part of the ramp that your dog might find a little too smooth.

The ramp is fantastic
4/5

Although it's simple to put together, it's still a little too slick. *I returned to revise this review because this ramp has completely transformed our lives!
If it weren't for the slick carpet, I'd give it five stars. Unlike some reviewers, I had no trouble putting it together. It came with detailed instructions and all of the pieces fit together perfectly. It took us about 30 minutes or less to complete it. It also has a nice appearance and is well-made. Unfortunately, as many reviewers have stated, it is extremely slippery. While it may be fine for small dogs who simply need a lift to the bed, it is not suitable for my 17-year-old corgi, who has vision and mobility issues. br>br>I tried tacking a yoga mat over it (which looked awful), but it slid and bunched and didn't feel secure. (I've attached photos of the first failed attempt)br>br>*I'm not mechanically inclined in the least, so I made do with what I had. I cut the yoga mat into strips, folded them over to make them a little thicker, and taped them on with gorilla tape to make little steps/"speed bumps" on it to give him more traction, similar to what I've seen on other ramps. (I didn't want to change the ramp permanently, so I used tape. ) It worked perfectly! I could have simply used more tape on my original mat configuration, but I believe the different textures help him. He now comes to bed every night, giving us back our cuddle time and restoring his reign over the bed. He appears to be in a better mood, which makes me very happy. It's amazing how much a bed ramp can change your life.

It was a difficult build, but it was well worth it! I'm only going to give you four stars
4/5

This product requires a fairly handy person to set it up, and if you're not very technically inclined, it will most likely be a 45-minute project. The procedure will take 60 minutes. This ramp, on the other hand, is OUTSTANDING! It's a long one, so keep that in mind. I thought I'd have to train my dog to use this ramp to get on and off our elevated bed because it runs the entire length of the right side of my queen sized bed, but compared to other ramps, this is why it's so effective: most shorter ramps have a much steeper incline, making them somewhat intimidating for a puppy to tackle at first. I thought I'd have to train my dog to use this ramp to get on and off our elevated bed, but literally minutes after I had it The carpeted top prevents your pet from slipping as they climb or descend, and the gentle incline combined with a flattened "landing area" on top means you won't have to force your pet to use it. We're a small family of six. Even though he's a 7-pound dog, he's used this ramp all day, every day since the beginning (and still does). It's quite sturdy, which is handy when I'm getting out of bed and it's right next to me. I'm sure it's supported my weight when I've rolled over in my sleep, but even if it hasn't, it's still as well-made as it was when I first put it together. I would advise you to pay close attention to the seller's measurements before ordering, as it is quite large; however, for a small dog, having a long, easy ramp with a top landing area has made all the difference over things like pet store bought steps, etc. Functionally, it's perfect- just a bit of a project to put together. This is a fantastic product that I wholeheartedly endorse.
