It was great to have this gate because our bigger dog is able to leap 30" gates, so we wanted something higher. Installing it was easy and I screwed the plates into the wall to make it more durable. The very first time our dog mounted the gate it flew open. We had not figured out how to jump it and our dog couldn't jump it. After turning around, I saw a wide open door, thinking there was no way he would have jumped the gate. As I examined the hinges further, I found that the plastic parts were badly cracked both along the side and right down the middle. I thought the plastic parts were so high quality, but I guess they're so In your opinion, you would expect a dog gate to be a little more sturdy and not included cheap plastic to hold it together in the most critical places. 5-inch opening best for anyone who wants a wider opening for their pet. In the past ten years, I have installed half a dozen other gates on my property Some are due to pets, while others are due to toddlers My favorite piece of furniture. I'm a big guy, so I can say this is my favorite. Having to squeeze through narrow gates is not my cup of tea. A wide gate on this property allows me to easily walk through it with my laptop bag while on the go. It is advantageous if the flap can swing (and stay) open either way. Despite the wide opening around the door frame, the swinging part of the pet door was too much for my cat, so I had to loosen the screws around it (just the smaller opening) to get the swinging part to come out. This solved my problem. As of now, we use these primarily to contain the dogs in one section of the house depending on where we are at any given time. The Wall Nanny is used in conjunction with this for securing paint and cabinets, and I use a 6" extension to achieve the size I need. It is conceptually possible for my two-year-old to understand how the door is supposed to open, but it requires so much hand dexterity that it will likely take her another year before she is able to master.

What the heck. A simple door between two walls would be perfect for me. For it to get that far, I found the instructions and number of pieces ridiculous. I can't describe the feel of it better than I can describe any other baby gate I've purchased. Sometimes the instructions were worded weirdly and were definitely not in a standard format, which was frustrating. A step would be described in the next paragraph, and then it had instructions on what was required in the previous step. When placing the arrow in the last step, be sure it points upwards!
