In terms of instructions, I give it 2 stars. As for the door itself, I like it a lot. There was only one part of the instruction I found to be lacking, and that was how to cut the hole. Cut the hole the way it says on the box, not the other way around. A silly amount of space is taken up by it. I found it frustrating that they advised me to cut it the way they did. This is a wrong advice that will cost you a lot of money. Measure precisely or you will regret it deeply.
There is about two inches of thickness to my front door. The two knobs on the door make the dog door installation a bit more difficult. You can see that my door has those two awkward panels. In order to avoid them, I drilled my holes not at the corners of the door, but half way down where the door remains The size of my dog is 8 pounds, and I have a toy poodle named Piper. The long legs of this woman make her fit through the door perfectly. Within the same day, we trained her how to work the door, though she does not use it unless we ask It will still take a couple of weeks for her to be able to use it independently. If you use the given template, make sure to cut inside the trace rather than on the line. I cut on the line, and as a result, the door wouldn't fit snugly unless I screwed the screws much tighter, but the instructions caution against doing so. A disclaimer is in order, as I really do not find this bad.
In a nutshell, The PetSafe door at the old house was great, but I are glad to have this one at the new one. The design of it seems to have been more thought out than the cheaper model. It is as easy as snapping the PetSafe door cover around the inside or outside If my dog pushes the cover off the outside, he can also pull it off from inside. With this door, keeping my dog inside is done by sliding the cover down inside the There is no way to pull or push the cover off of your dog. In the event that the cover is partially closed, the dog will be able to peer out while not being able to exit. The only problem with this brand's medium doors was how narrow the size was in comparison to PetSafe medium doors. He was not sure whether it was going to be wide enough, but it was able to accommodate him. Schnauzers weigh about 25 lbs. , but before surgery the breed weighed 22 pounds.
On the door connecting my laundry room and garage (which then leads to an outdoor dog run) I installed this. Despite being clear and flexible, the flap has a reasonable level of transparency. Installing the security panel is easy, and it locks into place after it's in I found the installation process to be straightforward. The installation instructions on this product were incorrect, as they said to cut the hole using the security panel as a template. I only gave it four stars because I didn't follow them properly. Although I thought that would be fine for the width, I discovered that the panel was nearly as long as the door frame, which meant that the lip of the frame barely covered Using a panel for the width and reducing the length by about 3/4" would be my preference should I do it again.
This is what I have in my garage- Providing the dog with access to an enclosed heated garage is important. Installation was straightforward and the construction was reasonable. Magnets do a good job of securing the flap in place. On all four sides, there is a small gap between the flap and the frame. If the weather is not that cold or you are willing to tolerate quite a bit of draft, this wouldn't be the best choice for access to the inside.
As far as I can tell, everything is going well. My decision to buy this one is the result of reading several reviews. In addition to this, we have built a plywood insert to go behind our sliding glass doors as needed. Our contraption was blown along rather well and there were hardly any drafts surrounding the flap once we completed it. Hopefully my dog will be able to learn it fairly quickly and we will be able to use it to the fullest. Having a happy wife and a happy dog means a happy husband.
It's fantastic. I love it, my dogs love it, and I love my heating bill. It is also big enough and low enough for my little pug, and great for my great piranissaness.
I'm giving this rating mainly to the seller, with the remainder to the product. * They sent the door without a template or instruction manual, and I had to make do without it because I had a tight schedule to get things installed before leaving town. In the process of trying to wing it without getting a template or instructions on what size to cut or drill, I accidentally cut a slightly too small hole and the repeated attempts to drill such a small hole further stressed the door and fractured it three times. A hole has been punched in my door. In spite of my best efforts, the screws wouldn't go in when the dog door was in place. Even though the two halves of the plastic door are aligned perfectly (I can see the entire screw hole perfectly), I am unable to put the screw into the door. The screws had a 100% resistance to all bit sizes, so I tested them with different bits to ensure proper connection and concluded it would just strip the screw. There seems to be an issue with the screws that came with the door as they are too large for the holes in the dog door frame. There should be some resistance, but it should not be impossible to screw them in There was no bag in the box when I opened the package. The screws were just loose in As the dog door is currently sitting in my back door as a place holder, it is merely a temporary measure. There is no way to have a gaping hole in my door, but I cannot screw anything into the holes because there is no way to close them. The heat in Texas can be frustrating at best, and would prefer not to have it freely entering my house every time my dog or cat goes through it. I also fear that it will fall off when my dog or cat goes through it, or perhaps when it falls off on its own. There is no way out of this. Any ideas are welcome, but I am furious about how this whole ordeal has been handled.
