So long as it fits her and she can't get out of it, she'll be happy. I misjudged the size of my cat's head, and she was able to escape from it.
If your pet is unable to reach the area, no. We used it on our 18-pound Maine Coon cat after he had hip surgery and he was unable to reach the area. I'd recommend trying the collar first and then returning it if it doesn't work. We tried the plastic collars first, but he didn't like them and couldn't sleep or eat well. Also, the collar cover can be washed. I hope this has been of assistance.
It was impossible for my 9-pound cat to do so.
Yes, it can be washed in the washing machine; I've done so several times with the regular cycle and it's held up beautifully!

Max was miserable wearing the standard "cone of shame" because the size required prevented him from eating or drinking on his own. I ordered a few different options, and this one worked best because the outer circumference is larger than most of the e-mail options. It is popular among collars. Within 24 and 48 hours of putting them on, Max had punctured holes in both inflatable options. This pillow is incredibly soft. Although the structure prevents him from reaching his butt, it allows him to eat and drink without the need for human assistance, as well as rest his head more comfortably. Most importantly, he appears to enjoy it more than the standard cone, and it cannot be punctured or deflated.
This product will NOT prevent a cat or dog from getting to a wound (except for the inflatable ones). If the wound is in the lower body, you're pretty much doomed. It's a real drag. I'd never be able to get the cone back on him if I removed it. Wrap the wound and remove the dreaded cone for eating, grooming, and other activities if possible. As a result, they can breathe a sigh of relief. UGH. We've been at it for ten days and are now on day five.
It turned out to be the best purchase I've ever made. She can eat, drink, see, scratch her ears, and groom her tail while wearing it. However, she is unable to access her incision, which was the point of the procedure! It hasn't bothered her at all, and she hasn't been able to take it off, despite her best efforts. And everyone has remarked on how adorable it is!.
This is exactly what I was looking for. For a cat who has had surgery, this is a must-have item. My cat had an operation on his eyes.
One of our cats has a skin condition on her belly that she refuses to let go of. We've used the cone, a recovery suit, a recovery collar from another brand, and this one, in addition to working with the vet. This product is the best because both the cone and the recovery collar from the other brand were just long enough for our cat to contort herself and reach her lower belly. The recovery suit did a good job of covering her, but she acted paralyzed, and I could tell she wasn't going to be happy in the long run. She can't reach her belly button with the large version of this recovery collar because it's too long. She can reach her paws and tail, so if that's the source of your pet's injury, this won't be enough; however, she won't be able to clean her head, back, or belly. She appears to enjoy having the "pillow" with her at all times, as she is comfortable, walks normally, eats, and plays. br>br>The drawstring is the only flaw. The clasp is smooth enough that any amount of tension loosens it, allowing the recovery collar to slip off. A rougher shoelace was used in place of the chord. I used a different type of string, and it worked perfectly.
One of our cats had surgery to remove a bump just above his tail, so we ordered two of these. He is always grooming himself. This soft pillow collar not only prevented him from reaching the surgical site, but it also made eating and drinking much easier for him. He also seemed to sleep better with it on and was generally happier. In a regular load of laundry, we washed them in a mesh bag. They were air dried. They came out looking fantastic after being washed. We can't say enough about how much we like it!.
My baby weighs no more than 8 pounds. Choosing a good e-mail address is a difficult task. It was a hunt for her to find a collar! This, on the other hand, was perfect. Even if she drank water and lay down comfortably, she wouldn't be able to reach the incision. Her surgery consisted of removing her spleen with a mass (in case that helps with the incision location). I tried another one that was inflatable and was supposed to fit her neck size, but it was too big, cumbersome, and kept moving around. I like that it doesn't have a clasp where her front leg could get caught (like the first one I tried - it did). which did occur, but I was fortunate enough to be present at the time). br>br>The only thing I don't like is the pull string with a clip to tighten the strap. I was always careful to leave it a little more than two fingers loose and tuck the string up between the back of her neck and the collar because I was afraid she would get it caught on something. That, however, is most likely due to me being the overly cautious mother. Overall, this was an excellent purchase. It's not inflatable, which I like, and it washed up nicely in a garment bag on the gentle cycle (air dried).
In the cone that the vet had given her, she was miserable. She immediately relaxed and didn't mind wearing it after we switched to this recovery pillow. It prevented her from licking her wound and served as a relaxing head rest! This product should definitely be used instead of a traditional recovery cone!.
