FURminator Short Hair deShedding Tool for Cats, Large

It's not that I don't care about grooming him; it's just that I swear to God I had no idea cats needed to be brushed. Dogs, perhaps; Sure, there are horses. But cats? They spend the entire day cleaning! Neither has he ever taken a bath. Is it possible that I'm a terrible cat parent? br>br>Anyway, I bought this brush because the cat was getting a rash on his lower back (upper tail?). ) and I reasoned that it would be better if he didn't swallow so much hair while scratching it. The first thing I noticed about the brush when I took it out of the box was how heavy it is. It has a good vibe to it. made. The handle is pleasant to hold, and it does not appear to be in danger of breaking any time soon. I tried it out on my own hair (is that weird? ), and it worked perfectly. This product has been put to the test on real people! There wasn't a single hair on my head that was pulled out by it. That says something about me, but I'm not sure what. br>br>As for the cat, he was ecstatic when he discovered me sitting on the living room floor. I surprised him when I ran the brush down his back when he came up to investigate. If you have a trusting cat, this may not be the best strategy. He settled down for a nice long brush after the initial "WTF" reaction. Every few minutes, he'd wander away, only to return for more. I had a pile of fur large enough to construct a new cat when I was finally finished (and the brush wasn't pulling anything else out of him). I returned to find him lying in the pile of hair, rubbing his face on the brush, after I set the brush down on the floor to go get a trash bag. The cat is extremely soft and no longer chews on his buttocks after a day. As a result, it was a huge success. Recommendations: br>br> 1. br>br> Brushing your cat while wearing nice clothes is not a good idea. You'd think I'd know better, but apparently I'm a moron.
2. Unless your cat is prone to fleeing or your yard is overrun with hawks, brush your cat outside.
3. Introduce the brush to your cat in the same way you would a new toy or husband. br>4. Take photos of the massive pile of fur produced by this brush.

The best brush I've ever used, and well worth the investment. Before buying a brush, I read a lot of reviews and ultimately chose this one. I was worried that some people would say it was pulling/cutting my cat's hair and/or hurting him, but I haven't had any problems. br>br>I swear she shed two cats' worth of hair the first time I used it. When her shedding was at its peak, I continued to use it for a few weeks, and she continued to shed more and more hair. It was completely out of control! br>br>Her coat has become silky soft and lustrous. Brushing her hair is one of her favorite things to do. I've found that it doesn't pull out unnecessary hair that isn't loose, so it's almost a daily routine for me. It simply picks up the shedding undercoat and brushes it away. Leela is a short-haired black cat who has no problems with hair balls or matting. br>br>The button that pushes the hair off the brush is convenient, and it easily removes the hair with little effort. br>br> I highly recommend it, and her coat has greatly improved in recent months. It's also kept her hair off of the furniture and dust ball collections.

Every other brush I've tried has failed to capture them. Both were initially wary of the Furminator, but by the third day of attempting to brush them, they were both lying down and purring. The amount of fur removed from my cats by this brush astounded me. They have so much fur! I had no idea! br>br>****WARNING! ****UPDATE! br>You can brush your cat too much. My cat enjoys having his fur brushed by the Furminator. She'll sit next to the brush and purr and meow until you brush her. As a result, we've been brushing her a lot because she adores it. THIS HAS THE POSSIBILITY OF BECOMING EXTREMELY EXTREMELY EXTREMELY She continued to lose a significant amount of fur every time we brushed her, and the amount didn't seem to taper off. We were taken aback by the fact that she had so much hair to lose. As it turns out, She had not done so. We're not sure if the Furminator is shaving her or what's going on, but her fur appears to be extremely short in a few places, and her skin can be seen peeking through her fur in one spot on her back. Wowie. This device is incredible at removing hair that you wouldn't think was 'loose. ' (In the past, I've brushed my cats with a different type of wire brush, which I believe was designed for large dogs with a lot of fur. ) I came across this Furminator by accident, read some reviews, and decided to give it a shot. )br>br>All right, then. All I can say is that the amount of hair that came off my cat and onto this brush astounded me. However, here are some thoughts and suggestions for you: br>br> br>br>1) To avoid injuring your cat, use a light touch the first few times you use this. It may take some time to grasp or determine the proper angle, but think of this brush as if you were raking leaves with a very short 'rake. ' To put it another way, you want the metal tines to go into your cat's fur at a straight, vertical angle, not at an angle. Then, in the direction of your cat's tail, use short (rather than long) brush strokes. You'll notice hair accumulating as soon as you start making these short strokes. br>br>2) I noticed that this brush has a tendency to create static electricity or something, because I was noticing clumps of fur appearing even in places where I hadn't brushed yet. Alternatively, I was noticing clumps of hair on the floor near where I was brushing my cat. As a result, this is just something to be aware of. Especially if, like me, you are concerned about pet hair strewn about your house. 3) Hold the brush over a trash basket and depress the dark blue knob in the center as soon as it fills with hair. As a result, a second metal 'comb' 'pushes through' the first metal comb, releasing all of the accumulated hair into a trash basket below. I found that depressing the entire clump of hair did not always work, and I had to give the entire brush a hard shake to get it to drop the hair into the wastebasket.
