I haven't tested it on a small dog, but I believe it would work if the coat wasn't too thick. It's a fantastic piece of equipment. After a brief trial period, my cats were enamored with it.

My cat's fur, which had become extremely thick (it had been thick her entire life and she is a short hair/part siamese), has dramatically thinned. I just used it on her tonight, brushing her softly and slowly, and she was ecstatic! The amount of fur that fell off astounded me. Her coat was gleaming and smooth, and she appeared to be much happier as a result. I'm hoping this product doesn't break the line, but I'm still happy, and I now have one happy cat.
My cats had never been brushed before, so the furminator was too rough at first. So I began by brushing them with a softer brush to get them used to brushing. Then they became enamored with the furminator and formed a line to take their turn. I have a pair of thick-haired short-haired cats. This brush removes a lot of hair from the cats, causing them to purr uncontrollably. This is the second time I've done something like this.
This device is effective. My dog sheds a lot, and this helps pull a lot of it out of her double coat so it doesn't get all over the place. I absolutely adore it and regret not purchasing it sooner.
It doesn't work as well on cats as it does on dogs. It appears to remove both top and undercoat hairs.
Dreadlocks have grown out of my cat's long hair. We used to cut it, but because she is 12 years old, applying anesthesia has become risky in the last two years. This was an excellent solution.
For t to truly work, it required a break in period.
This was not an Amazon purchase. br>br>This is the only cat brush Suky will sit still for; she actually purrs when we brush her, and it removes tons of hair; as a result, I've started making cat fur socks, gloves, and hats - Who's up for it? br>br>This brush comes highly recommended.
I would recommend this product because it is extremely useful and well-made.
