8" x 11" is the size of the front opening (door). Our 16-pound adult cat enters his house with ease. Thank you for reaching out with your inquiry.
Mine, too, was devoid of a chimney. The cat, on the other hand, is completely enamored of it.
Yes, it has to be on their own time; I put some catnip in there to entice them in a little faster, but I now find them sleeping in there on occasion.

I'm blown away by how wonderful this tiny home is! I bought one for my new kitty to see if he'd like it, figuring he'd destroy it or something and it'd be a quick $15 wasted. WELL, LISTEN TO WHAT I HAVE TO SAY - Contrary to popular belief, this is not the case. The assembly of this device is so simple that even a spider monkey could do it. It is of excellent quality and is extremely durable. The cat nip was a great motivator for my cat to use it; it's now his primary hiding spot, and he enjoys the scratch pad. I was also concerned that my chubby kitty wouldn't fit inside, but there's plenty of room for him to move around and turn around. I'm going to buy some more of these!.
She's always lounging and lounging inside of them. Bunstructing is, of course, her favorite thing to do. She has already widened the windows and is very pleased with the results. The cardboard is of excellent quality, and the cost is reasonable. When she happily demolishes this one, I'm going to buy another:.
If you have large cats, the cottage is the best option. It's big enough for my two biggest cats to fit in with plenty of room to spare and turn around. I also got the gingerbread house, and while it's cute and my two biggest cats can fit in it for the most part, it's a tight fit. Even the tiniest of them have difficulty turning around. The gingerbread house is a lot smaller. The cottage's floor is a large scratch board, whereas this one has a strip running through it. The cottage has one opening, while the gingerbread house has two. Snaps are used to assemble the gingerbread house, while tabs are inserted into slots to assemble the cottage. Snaps were my favorite. I'm happy with my purchase as long as my "kids" are happy, but I'm glad I got the cottage for my two biggest cats.
Today I finished putting this house together. It's a snap to put together. My cats attempted to enter the house while I was still putting it together. There is no odor in the home I received. Two adult cats live with me. One is 16 pounds and the other is 14 pounds. The other is ten pounds. This house has a lovely and spacious entryway. My 16-pound cat enters and exits the house with ease and enjoys lying in it. I intend to purchase a second home for each of my cats:.
It is very popular with my cat. When she walks in, she's sound asleep. Because she's a smaller cat, she has plenty of space. Because it appears to be quite spacious, I believe it would also accommodate a larger cat. The scratcher is fantastic, and it's a breeze to put together. Because it's just cardboard with notches, I wouldn't call it particularly sturdy, but it's not flimsy either. If your cat gets too rough with it, I can see it falling apart. I don't mind if it disintegrates or is ruined because it shows that it was well loved. I put a few toys in the chimney from time to time to give her something else to do. My package did not appear to contain cat nip, which is fine because my cat does not appear to be affected by it. When my current one wears out, I'll buy this one again!.
Two houses were purchased by me. However, I am limited to just one review.
- The GOOD: Cottage - 5 stars! br>Quick and simple to put together - It took my adolescent son about 5 minutes to assemble. assuming it takes that long. This delightful home is fantastic! It's a good size (two of my smaller cats can fit in there at the same time - My one chonk has no trouble getting in and having a good time on his own. My four cats take turns laying around, playing, and scratching. It is extremely popular among them. They enjoy sitting inside and batting at each other as they walk by - It's very funny. We absolutely adore it!
- The BAD: Circus - 2 stars! br>Due to the shape and design, this was a little more difficult to put together. You get half of the tabs in, and they pop out as you finish the rest, and the hanging toy has no real way of attaching itself. They simply tossed a ball inside with a piece of stretchy elastic that was not attached. And then there's the most crucial part - It's a minuscule amount of space. It's a good thing it has two open ends because it's difficult to get into for even my smaller cats - They prefer cramped/small spaces as well. It's just a little disappointing.
I'm not a fan of the scratcher house's shiny exterior, and when it's all put together, it looks a little shabby in comparison to other scratcher houses I've seen. The end opening is far too large and tall for cats to find it comfortable. The side windows, on the other hand, are very appealing. The cardboard, on the other hand, smells strongly of solvent. I've bought a lot of scratcher houses and a lot of cardboard scratchers, but none of them have had the same odor as this one. I'm not sure if I'll even give it to my cats. I'm kicking myself for buying two.
The SHOES we remove and leave in the kitchen appear to be strewn about. This cat house was originally purchased as a place to store a few pairs of shoes, and it was placed under the kitchen table. My 8- With the tiniest bit of assistance, my year-old grandson put the house together. We had to look after my daughter's CAT and dog as a result of this. Within ten minutes, the cat discovered and took over the cat house. She also enjoys scratching on the thick cat house floor, which adds to the sturdiness of the structure. Cheap is good, so this is a great deal.
