It's never happened to me that the salt has gone bad. The only issue I had with the container was that it was far too heavy to pick up and pour once it was full.
I'm not sure I understand your response because I haven't seen the pellet buddy, but I bought it for the sole purpose of holding smoker pellets, and it easily holds 40 pounds.
They are not stackable.
Yes, it is possible for it to come loose from its container.

Perfect container for holding more than 2 bags of BBQ pellet grill pellets while also keeping them dry. When I add pellets to my smoker hopper, none of them fall to the ground.
I buy Traeger pellets in 33-pound bags from Costco, and this bin can hold a full bag with room to spare. Add in the fact that I adore Buddeez containers - and you have a recipe for success. Everything from cereal to dog food is stored in them. It's important to me that they're made in the United States.
I'd been looking for a waterproof container for a while, and the back handle made pouring so much easier. The pouring spout was a fantastic addition. The container, on the other hand, seemed to be watertight to me. This is not the case. It is, in my opinion, water resistant. The pellets will not fit in this container. It is necessary to keep the pellets used in smokers dry. The pellets will be destroyed even if only a few drops of water are dropped on them. Our son decided to put the container under water to see how it would hold up. He positioned the container beneath our shaded patio. In North Carolina, we had a snowstorm over the weekend. When he opened the container, he discovered water inside. He's disappointed that this container won't hold smoker pellets, bird seed, or salt, which all need to be kept dry to avoid mold and disintegration. The hunt is still going on!.
Water leaking into the containers was caused by light rain. I'm glad I didn't fill it up yet.
Instead of an even spray down the entire walk, it could easily spill out in a big pile.
Place this dispenser near the back door. It is effective at what it does. The only reason I gave it three stars for spreading ease is because it is difficult to spread if you are a woman. It's awkward to pick it up after you've put a bag of salt in it, and it's too heavy for you to lift and pour. Good value for money and quick delivery.
Wood pellets are what I'm using in my smoker. It works great, so I ordered another for my son to use with his Treager smoke pellets.
This product's flaw is the little red spout, which allows rain to enter when the same containers without it do not.
