This was purchased to replace the slide shoes on my 19-year-old MTD Yard Machines E600E snow blower (part number 784-). 5580 br>I was sent an item that had been returned or had been opened. On all three sides of the package, the edge was open. When I got the shoes, they were already out of the package. Amazon sent me a returned item, which I was not pleased with. The item, however, appeared to be in good condition. br>I installed it on my snow blower with no problems; it's as thick as the one it replaced, and it appears to be well made; I'm hoping it will last a few years. br>Only the slide shoes are included in the package. I replaced the carriage bolts and nuts with new ones, but I reused the bell washers because they were in good condition and I couldn't find them on Amazon or in stores. MTD parts sells them for $2 on their website. That's way too much at 71 a piece. br>I'm deducting one star for the item that was returned or had an open box.
If you've been fortunate enough to have your snowblower working for an extended period of time, the skis will eventually need to be replaced. My snowblower's skis had worn down to the point of separation. When the skis no longer work as they should, the bottom portion of the snowblower scoop will ride on the surface and catch on every contraction joint (the lines) in your driveway or I spent two years trying to anticipate each joint and lift the snowblower just a little higher to avoid catching the scoop. I finally got tired of it and bought a new pair of skis, and now my snowblower doesn't have to bounce around like a jerry-built car. hydraulic lowrider that has been rigged.
I decided to replace both the slide shoes and the shave plate because they were both worn out. I had to cut old carriage bolts off because they were so badly rusted. These replacement shoes appear to be good, but only time will tell if they are after a winter of use. My only gripe is that the carriage bolts aren't new. Fortunately, there's an old-fashioned hardware store a mile away that has every nut, bolt, and screw you can think of, and the new carriage bolts I got there were much less expensive than the ones I found online.
It was a perfect match. The troy-style bolt pattern is ideal for troy-style troy-style troy-style troy- I bought two sets, assuming there would be one set per pack. Each pack includes two of them.
I ordered the incorrect part for my application, but I'm keeping it because I repair machines for friends and family. These will almost certainly be required at some point in the future. In the end, double-check that it will fit your machine before ordering. This set was significantly less expensive than the machine's actual set.
However, there is no concrete. They appear to be well-constructed. They performed admirably on asphalt, with no skipping or shuddering caused by excessive friction, but they slid poorly on concrete driveways and sidewalks. When the snow is hard packed and they can't touch the concrete, they're fine. Here in the mountains, there's a lot of powdery snow, and the shoes just drop right down to the concrete. These are only suitable for use on asphalt surfaces, in my opinion. br>I've replaced these with a pair of polyurethane slide shoes that glide over the concrete like butter.
As a back-up, I purchased this. This feature has not yet been implemented. Replacements for a plastic set that will not last long due to the concrete driveway's harsh wear. Metal, on the other hand, should last a lot longer. I doubt I'll require the replacements until next year.
I place my order based on the specifications for a 3" bolt pattern. Within a few days, I received my package. A knife or something sharp had already been used to open the package. I should have returned it, but in order to make it work, I decided to drill it. I'm extremely dissatisfied with the accuracy of the information provided.
