I'll give you my honest opinion on this product, which I was initially very enthusiastic about. I thought it was a little pricey, but since I don't make anything, that may not be the case. I like not having to bend over to clean the skimmer basket because of the innovative design. I've bought other similar handle products that you put in the basket to keep from sticking my hand into a bunch of spiders, bugs, frogs, etc. , but the spiders would crawl to the top of the handle with the other handles, so I still had to deal with it. Yuck! This basket handle is shorter, so that problem is no longer an issue. You also don't have to put your hand in there because of the hook on the handle. It's fantastic. for a while, but as you can see in the photo, the hook fell out of the handle after about a month, rendering it useless. Moreover, I have never been able to secure the handle in the basket, so I expect it to break soon. As I previously stated, the concept is fantastic, but if my purchase is representative of the product, it could use some improvement. A hook that will not pull out of the handle is a good place to start.

This is a fantastic gadget! Cleaning out the skimmer baskets can be thrilling because you never know what you'll find inside. Snakes, frogs, mice, unfriendly insects, and more can be found among the leaves, grass, and other natural materials. This device makes getting these "surprises" out simple and secure. br>br>6/11/2020 Update: The rating has been reduced to three stars. The metal hook on the device has come loose after only a few months, rendering half of it useless. I still think this is a great idea, but based on the fact that others are having the same problem, it appears that the design is flawed.

What a fantastic concept! After removing the cover with a short stick and a hook, I rigged up a wire hanger to remove the skimmer basket. It's a lot easier now, especially with my arthritic knees and hips, thanks to this device band setup. The addition of a skimmer net is a fantastic addition! br> br> br> br> br> br> br> br Review that has been updated! The hook on the pole had a minor problem for me. I sent an email to the company and received a reply almost immediately. Monica, the representative, sent me a substitute. I was pleasantly surprised by the prompt response and excellent customer service, and I wish I could give the product and customer service 6 STARS!.

It's not as simple as dumping the basket and calling it a day because I have an Aqua Genie skimmer. My skimmer's interior has the standard hole for the skimmer basket, but there's also an overflow space that's hidden by the tray that holds chemicals like chlorine tablets. The following is how I clean my skimmer: 1. br>br> To remove the 8"x14" cover plate, use the hook at the Skimmie's end.
2. To include the covered area under the tray, use the net at the other end of the Skimmie to skim objects swirling at the water's surface. All of the spiders congregate in this area.
3. Grab the skimmer basket handle with the hook end and empty the contents into the bucket.
4. Drop the skimmer basket into the hole to replace it. Use the Skimmie net to secure the basket in the hole while also grabbing things like mosquito wings that didn't come out when you shook it.
5. Remove the cover plate and replace it. br>br>Between steps 2 and 3, I like to express my gratitude for having the Skimmie and not having to stick my hand into a spider-infested hole.

I like the hook and the mesh skimmer head, and it's the right weight and size for me. With my bad back, I can no longer bend. I didn't put the yellow basket insert in because I wear skimmer socks and it wouldn't fit, but the skimmie works perfectly and I love it. If you're on the fence about getting it, go ahead and buy it! It'll help you save your back. Also, the pole is a good size; you don't always want to carry a 16-foot pole. Our inground pool has a large sun shelf, two step outs, and built-in steps, so debris is easily removed.

Knees and back pain? No problem! There are no spiders in this house. I thought this product sounded like it might be worth the money after reading about it, and boy was I right! I despised bending over and kneeling on the cold concrete only to be forced to stick my hand into a spider-infested (and occasionally other critter-infested) water basket. This makes the process so much easier; there's no bending over and no water to touch! Simply pull the basket out by the handle and wait for the spiders to leave. Empty the basket, and there you have it! Also, the customer service was fantastic! You won't be disappointed if you spend the money! It will be beneficial to your back and knees.

9 times out of 10, there's a spider (or several spiders) waiting for me to reach in and scream when it makes a run for my hand. I can get the basket out of the way with this tool because I don't have to bend down. That is made possible by the hook on one end and the net on the other end, which allows me to remove any leftover items from the skimmer that eluded basket removal. It's the ideal tool for a job I used to despise. Thank you to the people who put this together!.

I got right to work with it. I despise putting my hands in the skimmer because I'm afraid of what I might find in each handful- In the debris, there were frogs, LARGE spiders, and other small animals. I like that I don't have to get down on my knees to reach into the basket any longer. This Skimmie was designed with a lot of thought because it makes cleaning my pool so much easier. I'm extremely pleased with my purchase and the product's quality, and I've informed all of my pool-owning neighbors.
