Questions & Answers

If you needed to cut a hole, what tool did you use and did it come with instructions?

It's not difficult at all. Install the skimmer with the water level just below the desired level, punching out the screw holes with a sharp object. Then, with a razor blade, cut out the square opening once it's all in place and right.

Does the used Hayward SP1091LX Dyna-Motor SP1091LX Dyna-Motor SP1091L Take a Quick Look Above- Does the Ground Pool Skimmer come with gaskets on both sides? 1 to be used internally ?

A butterfly gasket is included in the skimmer. It serves as a gasket on both the inside and outside of the pool, as well as preventing chlorinated water from coming into contact with (and rusting) the pool wall. Think of two gaskets that are joined at the outer edge and can be slid over the square pool opening as a butterfly. kind- as in the bottom of your index and middle fingers. It performs admirably.

Water Volume Has Increased Significantly!   My 22' round Intex pool now has a skimmer
5/5

When cutting a butterfly gasket to fit a soft-top vehicle, take your time. a pool with multiple sides My skimmer was installed about 1/4" beneath the pool's top seam. DO NOT USE A LEVEL! Instead, use the seam to level it. I've heard a lot of people say that if your pool is even slightly off level, it will affect the skimmer. Also, fill your pool to within a foot of where the skimmer mounts to ensure that the liner is stretched and does not cause problems. After installing the skimmer, I used a thin bead of clear silicone sealant around the pool's edge. There was a small leak in one corner when I installed it and filled the pool. There were no leaks at all after the sealant was applied. The increase in water volume was the most noticeable change. br>br> I used the Intex 1 1/2" hose to connect the skimmer and pump, as well as an adaptor to connect the skimmer to the Intex hose. I bought two adaptors for around $10 on Amazon (I only used one). Some people claimed to have leaks, but mine didn't even drip. Just make sure the adaptor isn't too tight on the skimmer. If not, the "O" ring will be pushed out of place. Finally, I noticed that my pool was staying much cleaner due to the increased water volume going through the filter system. It's a little nerve-wracking to cut your liner, but it's well worth it!.

On an Intex 22'x52" Ultra Frame Pool, a skimmer was installed
5/5

I purchased this skimmer, like many of you, to use with my Intex pool, which did not come with one. I have a 22'x52" Ultra-Large Intex tent. I recently replaced the lousy cartridge filter pump that came with the pool with an Intex sand filter and pump with salt water ECO system combo. To figure out the best way to install this skimmer, I looked through all of the product reviews and questions, as well as numerous YouTube videos and Google searches. This Hayward skimmer is extremely long-lasting and attractive. It has a filter attached to it. Everything you'll need to put your pool together, including the basket, hardware, and gasket. Many of the reviews on here suggested cutting the butterfly gasket into two pieces, installing your skimmer onto your liner, and then cutting out the liner at the skimmer's opening. I reversed the process, tracing around the inside of the inlet as well as the screw holes on the skimmer inlet faceplate. I then poked a hole in the liner where the screws should go with a punch. I used a box cutter to slowly cut out the liner around my inlet outline that I had marked earlier, with my water level below the bottom of my inlet outline. I was finally able to properly install the gasket on both sides of my liner. I then screwed my screws into the skimmer body, poking them through the inlet faceplate and gasket. There was no need to trim the screws, and everything bolted together securely without leaking. I didn't want to hard-plumb the skimmer to my pump, and I had two extra Intex hoses laying around from my new sand filter pump that I wanted to use to keep the plumbing looking as clean and factory-like as possible. Because Intex hose end fittings are 40mm in diameter and not the standard pump fitting size (1 1/2"), I went to Lowe's and bought everything I needed to make this work. I wanted to be able to use the pool's two inlet ports as well as the skimmer, and I also wanted to be able to turn off the skimmer's flow. To do this, I needed a ballcock to mount on the skimmer and a tee fitting to connect the skimmer and original inlet hoses at the pump's inlet. I discovered a 3" long double threaded pipe with 1 1/2" threads that threaded right into the skimmer body's bottom. To prevent leaks, I wrapped both ends of the pipe in PTFE tape before installing the ballcock (1 1/2" threads as well). I was able to find some special adapter fittings on Amazon that allow you to connect an Intex 40mm hose to a 1 1/2" standard fitting. GAME makes these, and there are two of them in each pack. I bought two packs and installed one of the fittings in the ballcock, then used the supplied gasket to attach my extra Intex hose to this fitting. I used two more of the special adapter fittings on my 1 1/2" tee fitting, then used a gasket to attach the other end of my skimmer hose to one side of the tee, then used another gasket to attach my original inlet hose to the other end of the tee. I used the slide-on hose fitting that came with the skimmer to attach two of the Intex 40mm fittings together at the pump inlet and the other end of the tee fitting because I didn't have anything else to use. I used a box cutter to cut the end off one of my spare Intex hoses and jammed it into the Hayward slide-on fitting, then applied a bead of silicone RTV sealant around the outside and inside edges where the hose end meets the Hayward fitting. After an hour of drying, I connected my tee to my sand filter pump with my two new skimmer hoses and the original inlet hoses. Before connecting any hoses, I wrapped several layers of PTFE tape around all threads, and there have been no leaks so far! Hopefully, this information will be useful to someone looking to add one of these nice skimmers to their pool in the future.

This is exactly what we've been looking for for our vinyl above the Index
5/5

It appears to be a good fit for our Intex 22'x52' vinyl pool. The floating skimmer, which bobbed around and got in the way, was always a pet peeve of mine. It took me about 30 minutes to complete the installation. Installed a one-year-old one-year-old one-year- Water could be turned off with a 5" ball valve and T, and I could still use the existing intake if necessary. I haven't tried connecting the vacuum to it yet; the pool is still being filled as I write this.

This. Skimmer. This functioned just as well as a permanent one in an in-house setting. a pool beneath the surface Even though I got a severe chest pain when my husband made the first cut, it was easier to install than I expected (with two people). If you make a mistake with the cut, you'll have to buy a new pool! But he has a steady hand, and it was as smooth as silk after that. The screw holes in the skimmer housing, however, are not threaded, which was a surprise to us. You'll need someone with strong hands and arms for this (unless you're that person, of course). The skimmer sits at an angle in our pool due to the slanted side walls, but it still works perfectly. A word of advice to those having trouble adapting a ball valve: Hayward makes a ball valve specifically for this purpose. Trimline ball valve by Hayward (SP0723). It's also possible that it's SPO723. I had no way of knowing. However, it is still available for around $20 on Amazon. ) Because my husband and I are both plumbing idiots who were perplexed by the reviewer's instructions on how to adapt it, we decided to connect it straight and use a rubber stopper. This was discovered by my daughter. I'm going to order it tomorrow and will post an update once it's installed. (However, the rubber stopper worked flawlessly and was considerably less expensive. ) I'm debating whether or not to save the money. ) In the end, I should have done this years ago. (For the sake of brevity, we recently acquired an automatic vacuum cleaner that I have named Fred. ) He now has someone to work with. I'll let you guess what it's called. Ginger. As a result, Fred and Ginger are now in charge of cleaning my pool. Love it.
