This is the first time in 8 years that I haven't had to replace or remove my cartridge filters and spend time cleaning them, and my pool pressure has stayed at a consistent 13 pounds per square inch. My skimmer basket has a floater/bobber that creates the pull for the water to flow into it, and the sock gets in the way of the bobber's movement. So I figured I'd try putting the sock in the second skimmer basket, which is closest to the pump. That interfered with the pump's suction, and I was afraid it would get sucked in and destroy my pump, so I decided not to do it again! It does filter out the majority of the teeny, tiny, annoying bugs that would otherwise end up in the filter cartridges, but because I can't get the sock to fit properly in my skimmer basket, some bugs still get through. In addition, it expands rapidly. That's why I'm glad I went with the 30-minute option. pack! However, the $10 "handling fee," which effectively replaces the "free shipping," is a disappointment. wah- But I adore them so much that I ordered two more packs! Thank you very much; they are exactly what I needed and the reason I reordered from this vendor rather than another. I didn't use the other socks I tried because they were too small; the others were too big. My standard skimmer basket fits perfectly in the XL.

I needed something to help me get the small particles out of my pool, particularly the stuff that settles at the bottom. The first two photos were taken after I installed a sock filter on my skimmer, which took about an hour. It's a little hard to see right now, but it's already catching small particles! I used a zip tie to secure two sock filters (one inside the other) on my water hose powered pool vacuum (picture 3) and omg! Nothing was able to get past the filters! The filter has been turned inside out in the seventh image. The next-to-last image is in the middle of the two filters, and the final image is a close-up of it. My pool wasn't even that filthy before I vacuumed it.

Filter Sock is a fantastic tool. I needed to filter debri before it reached the pump because I was replacing a large single-speed pump with a large filter basket with a new variable-speed pump with a small filter basket area. My pool vac now has a leaf filter canister, but my skimmer was still bringing in a lot of debris that made it past the skimmer filter and into the pump filter. My yard has a lot of trees and plants, and some of them produce small 1/4 inch flowers that my skimmer filter couldn't catch, and they'd end up in the pool filter, causing a clog so bad that the sides of the plastic pool filter would crack. The addition of the iaqua Pool Pre- is a welcome addition. That problem was completely solved with Filter Sock! It's simple to install, has no visible effect on skimmer suction, and catches everything! Simply remove it from the skimmer filter, rinse it, and replace it; it's as easy as that. This large bag of 30 will last a long time, and once it's gone, I'll place another order. Phoenixmike, I'm a huge fan of this product.

If your skimmer is connected to your filter, you'll be running your pump dry when these are full! There will be no way for water to pass through! Try running your pump with a cloth stuffed under the skimmer basket as an analogy, because that's exactly what happens, and you'll be lucky if your pump doesn't shut down. These are fine for letting dry chemicals into your pool if you use them elsewhere. Looking at these filthy socks, I can't imagine them sitting on top of the filter intake.

I've been rotating the first five socks for five weeks and expect to get at least another five weeks out of them. The only disadvantage is that they are so effective in the spring when the pool is a little green and there is a lot of pollen that you must wash them out twice a day because they catch the very fine particles and can become so clogged that the water flow to the pump is slowed. Despite this, the cost of the socks is low or non-existent due to the savings in chemicals, water, and energy. It should extend the time between filter sand or large filters, and if I do the chemistry correctly, I should be able to tell if a dime is heads or tails in 8 feet of water.
