This has a flaw in the design. Even though the bench is waterproof, water will collect in the grooves of the seat if it rains. When you open it, it will be at the top. The water is poured into the box in its entirety. However, we were able to come up with a solution: Place a shim under each of the two front legs to raise them slightly. Any water that has accumulated is thrown behind the bench, not in it, when the lid is opened. The issue has been resolved. Moreover, the solution is impenetrable.
Is the Keter 186300 70 Bench Storage Bench "waterproof"? I'm looking for a waterproof box bench to keep the rain out. Is there a lock on it, as well? BH173
I just measured the seating area and found that 51 would work if the width was 17 inches or less. If that helps, the lift-up seating portion measures 49" x 18".

This is a resin outdoor bench that costs under $100; it is not an heirloom piece that will be passed down through the generations. The product is good value for money. br>br>We bought this bench to store gardening tools and a few small outdoor toys in the backyard. We need this piece to do light to medium duty, and that's most likely what it can do. This is not a heavy-duty bench. It literally snaps together, and despite how simple it is, you should take your time to ensure that each piece is snug. I'm guessing those who say it's falling apart haven't actually seen it fall apart. If your surface is uneven or you plan to store heavy items, it's worth it to reinforce the bottom with plywood. br>br>At this price point, there aren't many deck box/bench combinations to choose from. It's a good buy if your requirements are similar to ours. First, let's take a look at the advantages. From start to finish, it took me about 30 minutes. Everything seemed to fit together fairly well, and the instructions were simple to follow. It looks great and feels like it's worth a lot more than what I paid for it, but there were two things that disappointed me. It appeared to be made of an unusually thin material, but once put together, it appeared to be adequate for my needs. The second issue is a design flaw that the manufacturers could easily correct. Midway through the game, there are no lateral supports. Because the entire bottom slipped out of the groove the first time two normal-sized adults sat down, a way through the bench at the bottom was needed to keep it from bowing out and allowing insects to easily make a home in the bottom. As the bottom bowed perhaps a half inch out, we heard what sounded like something being unzipped. To prevent this from happening again, I'll add a couple strips of galvanized duct strap across the outside of the bottom. If they hadn't been so cheap with the materials and added just one or two lateral supports, this would have gotten five stars. In this photo, you can see how the base has bowed slightly.
I was concerned by some of the negative reviews, but I bought it anyway because it was on sale, and as I followed the instructions, I realized that some of the problems people complained about were likely caused by trying to skip or not following each step in detail. br>When I finished assembling the bench, I realized it needed to be placed on a perfectly level surface. If it hadn't been for it, the box would have twisted slightly and the lid would have been unable to close properly. It works best on a concrete patio or deck. br>I also added two eye bolts to the bench's lid to secure the pad.
People, please pay attention. Before I bought it, I read the reviews and the consensus seemed to be that it was "poorly made," "not heavy duty," and "wouldn't survive a hurricane. " It's a plastic storage bench, for crying out loud! It has a cute design, can hold items, and is inexpensive. I'm not sure if they thought a Tsunami-proof bomb shelter could be built for less than $200, but for what it's worth - It is ideal!! If that's also what you're looking for - I put it together with a screw driver in under 45 minutes, sat on it, and stuffed some deck crap inside. Then this is something you should get. If you want a bench that you can pass down to your grandchildren's children, this is the place to go. Continue shopping and budget for a significant increase in spending.

You could do it by yourself, but I found that it's a lot easier with two people. Is it made of durable materials? Yes. Tell ol' Joe to stop being a jerk and tell your wild-eyed friends. Was there any plastic flashing on some of the pieces' edges? Yes. The bench is a one-hundred-dollar investment. Trim the sh** off with an exacto knife. BAM. It's like new. All of you who are leaving these negative reviews need a reality check along the lines of "what you get for $100. " I'm going to take a seat on my sweet-smelling couch right now. Enjoy the rest of your day on a** bench. PEACE.
This bench is one of my favorites. I got three and set them up in a corner. Cushions were ordered, and they resulted in comfortable seating for six people. I can also use them to store my accent pillows and cushions. They are resistant to water.
