Questions & Answers
Yes, all parts, including the charcoal pan option, work together. The only change I made was to grind a small amount off the grill clamping bolt so it would point up when tightened, allowing me to get closer to the charcoal pan. That is a feature that I believe should be included as standard.
The main stake is driven into the ground without being bent. The grill is attached to the stake by a twist, which makes it very tight and prevents it from moving when weight is applied. If the ground is soft, you won't need a mallet, but if it's cold and hard, you'll need one. If you're going camping, you'll almost certainly have one to use to stake down your tent.
It becomes very hot. Adjusting the height requires a hot glove.

I used to despise reading product reviews from people who had not yet tried the product. Despite the fact that I am writing this review over a campfire, I have not yet used this grill. We purchased it to take on our RV trip so we could cook out food over an open fire. I have put it together and used it in the backyard, and it performs as expected. The lip that runs along the outside rim prevents hot dogs or other items from rolling off into the fire, and the support rod is simple to assemble, requiring only a rubber mallet or a rock to be driven into the ground, and then sliding the grilling grate up or down to your desired height and fastening it with a thumbscrew.
When I first got the package, I noticed that the bag was filthy and ripped up, and that there was no other packaging inside to protect the grill. The mitt and cloth that were supposed to be included were also missing. I clearly received a returned item that had been "repackaged" in a haphazard manner. I was a little concerned because it was only two days before our planned camping trip, but Amazon quickly replaced it and expedited shipping so that I could receive it the next day. This minor snafu was quickly resolved thanks to excellent customer service and the ease with which the issue could be resolved. issue. br>br>Now it's time to talk about the actual product. For our trip, the grill was ideal. Setting it up was a breeze. Following the advice of previous reviews, we hammered the pole into the ground with a wood block to avoid denting it. We didn't place it deep enough the first time, and the pole began to tilt; however, after driving it deeper into the ground, we didn't touch it for the rest of the weekend. br>br>The grill and support are sturdy, holding the weight of a cast iron skillet while also holding other items. The rim around it keeps food from falling out, but it doesn't keep thinly sliced food from falling out. We were trying to grill onion rings for our burger and I misplaced a couple of them. With this grill, we were able to easily feed a party of five. br>br>It was also very simple to break down the grill. I didn't have to exert much force to pull the stake out of the ground, and I was surprised at how easily it came out given how firm it had remained throughout the journey. The bag is convenient, and I was able to toss everything in during my lunch break. In under a minute, I was down. br>br>I highly recommend this grill, especially when compared to other grills in terms of price, durability, capacity, reliability, and ease of use. up, and this one fulfills all of the requirements.
Simple Amazon return due to damaged rod bolt threads, a broken grill bar, and a stripped adjustment bolt. I placed a second order. The rod threads were fine, and the grill bars were all intact. The adjustment bolt threads were damaged again, but they threaded in this time, so I'll probably have to replace it. br>br>Recent changes: br>br> For the first time, I tried it out by threading the two rods together and pounding them into the ground. The grill has been attached. Everything was sloppy and disorganized. After being ponded into the ground once, the rod threads have been stripped. 🤨. As I began to return this for the second time, I noticed that the grill itself appeared to be in good condition. All I have to do now is rethink the rod and the adjustment bolt. I replaced the rod with a larger diameter 1-inch rod. There's nothing to go wrong with this piece of construction spike. I replaced the L-shaped adjustment bolt with a longer, higher-quality threaded eye bolt that won't get as hot. This added about $11 to the overall cost due to my time, but I believe I now have a good product.
It was a fantastic experience. It was simple to use and had a raised side to keep things from sliding off. When it wasn't in use, we simply swung it out of the way. The bag that came with mine was large enough to fit the grill in (even with the L bolt still attached). br>br>A few things to keep in mind:
1. The glove and mitt were not delivered to me. The box was generic, but there was no indication that it was a return.
2. Initially, screwing in the "L" bolt/screw that holds the grill to the rod was difficult. The first time I screwed it in, I needed a large pair of pliers, but it worked fine after that.
3. The included "wrenches" are useless for assembling the stake/rod. I tossed them because they were easy to bend. The threading on the two-piece stake is iffy at best; there's a little wobble getting the threads started, but once it's put together and used, it doesn't come apart easily. In fact, I skipped taking it apart and putting it in the included bag because it wouldn't fit if it was assembled and sticking out the side. You'll also need your own wrenches to tighten it up because the ones that came with it bent out almost immediately. br>br>A few pointers on how to use it: When it's hot, you'll need to adjust the height with a heat-protective glove or something similar. (These were supposed to be included, but based on other reviews, it appears that they are no longer included. ) The grill is braced, so I didn't notice any sagging, but I'd still be cautious about putting a lot of weight on it. Make use of common sense - I also kept it 12 inches away from the fire because it's metal and a very hot fire (1000 degrees) can cause problems if left close to it for long periods of time. I placed it 16 inches above the fire and had no problems; I believe that using it as intended and swinging it out of the way after use will suffice in the long run, and I'm pleased with the grill overall. Is it perfect? No, but it appears to be one of the best options I found after a lot of research.
