I see what you're getting at, but the screen that came with my fire pit was flimsy and the metal was too pliable. This is a sturdy and high-quality item.

have been taken advantage of Because we also purchased the "Sunnydaze 30 Inch Cast Iron Fire Pit Bowl," we purchased this ONE HUNDRED DOLLAR hunk of wire mesh. You might think, as I did, that a "Sunnydaze Outdoor Fire Pit Spark Screen Cover 30-inch" is a "Sunnydaze Outdoor Fire Pit Spark Screen Cover 30-inch" is a "Sunnydaze Outdoor Fire Pit Spark You'd think that a "Sunnydaze 30 Inch Cast Iron Fire Pit Bowl" would fit perfectly, but you'd be wrong. It doesn't fit perfectly, it doesn't fit inside the bowl, it doesn't fit outside the bowl, it just sits there, half on, half off, mocking you for spending ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS on something you could have bought for $30 and gotten the same awkward non-fitting non-fitting non-fitting non-fitting non-fitting non-fitting non-fitting non-fitting non-fitting non-fitting non-fitting non-fitting non fit. Any random $30 screen, for all I know, would probably fit better. br>br>I was on the fence about purchasing this because - Let's take a look. It isn't even worth ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS. But, I reasoned, who knows if the other 30 inch screens, which cost a third as much, will fit properly? They're unlikely to do so; in that case, I'll wish I'd paid Sunnydaze for a screen that fits properly. br>br>It's all in good fun! And you'll be on your own if you pay ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS for this and expect it to fit your Sunnydaze fire pit perfectly. Save money by searching for "30 inch fire pit screen. " br>br>Better yet, go to your local building salvage yard and buy a hundred old bricks for $30, then stack them to create your own fire pit. After all, it's a fire pit, not one of those concrete lions that look so cool on both sides of posh homeowners' driveways.
This was purchased to go on top of the fire pit in my photos, both of which were brand new at the time of purchase. After a night spent making s'mores around the fire pit- The fire wasn't very big, and a lot of the wood was fresh and still wet, so it wasn't extremely hot. However, it has become warped, does not sit on top of the iron fire pit, and the paint has begun to peel. I was let down.
We live in the Midwest, where the summers last for about five months. During this time, we use an outdoor fire pit (which gets very hot), and we replace the fire pit screen every five years. Sunnydaze is one of my favorite places on the planet. Others, on the other hand, aren't as long-lasting. Our fire pit has a screen on it 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You name it: rain, snow, or ice. Our Sunnydaze screen has never "Blown Off" and is left unattended in the pit. Because of the high temperatures we've had, we don't recommend painting the screen. Who wants to eat marshmallows that have been exposed to toxic paint fumes? This is without a doubt the best fire pit screen we've ever bought. This will be the case in the future as well. Keep an eye on yourself. Enjoy!.
In October of 2020, a new fire pit and patio were installed. At the end of October, I placed an order for a 36" Sunnydaze spark screen. Last year, we used the fire pit about six times. The screen and fire pit were covered for the winter because we live in the Northeast. The paint wore off after a few uses, and the screen started to rust; we just used the fire pit for the first time this year on 4/3/21, and certain sections of the screen are breaking away. This product is of poor quality; it has been used only a few times and is already falling apart, a complete waste of money. I would have given this product a zero-star rating if I had the option. br>Update: On two separate occasions, I requested a refund from SunnyDaze Outdoors. There has been no response. Horrible company to be in.
I was blown away by the weight and condition. Due to negative reviews, I almost didn't buy it. I'm glad I did. Much more substantial than I had anticipated. It's well-made. There are no dents or bends, so it's in excellent condition. There was no damage to the box because it was heavy duty. I went with the 36". We'll see how it holds up in the long run. The level of quality has astonished me. It arrived in just two days, too! I don't usually buy from third parties, but this was a great exception.
Here's what I like best: it's low- In other words, if you want a screened cover for your fire pit that reduces spark escape (lowering the risk of setting a fire with a stray spark) while still allowing you to see the fire, this is a great option. The proportions are appealing, and the design is simple and pleasing to the eye. The ONLY thing I'd like to see (though it would increase the price) is if this cover came with a simple iron 'hook' that allowed you to remove it while the fire was still burning. It's obvious that sitting near an open flame gets very hot, so you'll need to invest in some heat-resistant clothing. To be able to lift it up to add more wood to the fire while it's burning (and to be able to do so while it's burning).
This firepit cover is a perfect fit and does a great job of keeping embers from flying around. It has a nice rustic look to it that complements our outdoor entertaining area nicely. br>br>The only reason I gave this a four-star rating is because Because it isn't quite as "heavy duty" as described, it receives a one-star rating. I believe it will be blown off in a strong wind, so we should devise a system to keep it in place. br>br>I read the reviews warning about rusting and can see how that could happen. I used 2-in-1 spray on it. Before going outside, apply three coats of "High Heat" flat black paint.
This item appears to be excellent. It has rusted all over our brand new stone firepit after only ten days of receiving it. I've contacted Amazon, and they're in contact with the company, so we'll see what happens. In any case, after 10 days and one rainstorm, a $200 product should not rust. It should be constructed in a more aesthetically pleasing manner.
