I had a stone fireplace installed, but the retail price for the matching spark screen ($350) seemed excessive to me. Because round outdoor fire pits are far more common, it was more difficult to locate square screens. This screen was found online and I was pleased with the quality when I received it. The screen mesh isn't perfectly uniform all the way around, but it's close enough that it doesn't need to be returned. The foundation is fairly sturdy, and I am confident that it will not deform when exposed to heat and weather. The handle was not included in the initial delivery, but after contacting the company, they promptly priority mailed the missing piece to my home (which arrived in two days). So far, I've been very pleased with the product. br>NOTE: THIS PAGE HAS BEEN UPDATED. It's completely deconstructed after a year. It rusts quickly and isn't suitable for high-heat paint. After a few uses, the object begins to warp. The screen separates from the frame's top and sags onto the logs. Use for only one season.
In my opinion, it is well worth the money. It is well-made. Steel is a lot heavier than I anticipated. It's a nice surprise, and it's a nice-looking unit, as you can see. The majority of the unit can be put together by one person without assistance. However. When it comes to putting the hood on, there are a few things to keep in mind A second pair of hands is required to support the hood while the holes are aligned and the bolts are started. The spark screen and a cover for the pit to keep water out of the bowl when it rains are not included with the unit. As a result, I placed separate orders for them. A 30 x 30 cooking grill serves as the bowl's cover, which I topped with a thin rubber mat from Home Depot. To fit on top of the grate, cut it to size. Because the spark screen is partially hidden beneath the slat roof of my cedar pergola, I purchased it from the pit seller. If sparks emerge from the unit too close to the roof, I can close the screen. Overall, I'm very pleased with how everything turned out. I'm almost hesitant to put anything in it because it looks so nice. However, the seasons of autumn and winter are approaching. We'll have to wait and see.
It appeared to be in good condition when it arrived. I knew it wouldn't last forever, but I figured a couple of years would suffice. br>The first time I used it, it had a horrible odor and was warped. I guess I'll have to start looking for a square spark screen again, because this one isn't going to last a season. I'm afraid we'll start seeing holes in it during the next fire.
It miraculously fit our very old fire pit, which we had recently refurbished with new granite and fresh paint. We've used it a few times now, and it's still going strong. I can't speak for durability, but we haven't experienced any rust or heat distortion thus far. When we aren't using the pit, we cover it.
I'll be honest, this spark screen is a little flimsy for its size (36 inches), and the construction could stand to be a little more heavy duty for such a large spark screen. I haven't seen their smaller screens, but I'm guessing they simply increased the size without increasing the durability of the reinforcing cross-beams. pieces. An example of a typical engineering blunder – You can't simply increase the size of a product and use the same materials as the smaller versions and expect it to last as long. That being said, it does work as a spark screen, but don't use it over a very hot fire (as stated in the product documentation) or the rivets will pop and the frame will deform. It could be worse, but with this size of spark screen, they're testing the limits of their design.
This screen was not inexpensive, and the fact that it no longer works renders it useless. Purchase is not recommended. Update. br>br> We used it last night, and the ashes are still strewn across my patio furniture. I'm stumped as to what I should do next. br>br>I haven't used it yet, but it appears to be quite nice; now I just need to figure out whether or not I need to anchor down. It isn't particularly heavy, but neither is it extremely light.
This item seemed to be a bit pricey to me. I purchased it because we were in desperate need of it. There were a lot of ashes flying around in our drinks. Don't get me wrong, there's still stuff coming through the holes, but it's nowhere near as bad as it was before the fire place was uncovered. Remember that the top part of the screen is hot, so don't touch it with your bare hands when you remove it. It gets the job done. I also posted a picture of the screen not lying flat; it pops up a little on the corner, which I'm not sure is normal. As a result, I am unable to give this item a five-star rating.
I can't use this product because it didn't come with a handle. When I contacted the manufacturer, they assured me that the handle would be sent to me. There has been no response in over a month.
