It will, in fact. Especially if you don't use a waterproof cover for the screen. It will burn off some of the black paint after being exposed to the heat of the fire, and rust will appear. It can always be repainted with heat-resistant paint to maintain its fresh appearance. I like the unit and am pleased with it overall.

It was my first time purchasing a "used" item, and it turned out to be a fantastic bargain. I saved almost half the price and the item was in perfect condition when it arrived. It's the perfect size for our outdoor fire pit, it's extremely durable, and it looks great. I am extremely pleased with my purchase.
