Questions & Answers

The smallest number of worms for a 50 gallon water drum (laying horizontally) that is half filled with compost is how many?

If you put 100 of them in a room, feed them well and talk to them, you will have thousands of them in no time. Then again, maybe.

In the winter/snow, can these be used in a composting system?

The one I have right now seems to be dying. Hopefully some of them will hibernate in the middle of my worm farm, but I'm no worm specialist. If you live in a region with snow or freezing temperatures, you shouldn't purchase worms in the winter to add to your composter. If they are up to 45 years old they will be fine A 50F temperature. If you want to keep your compost inside, you can bring it

How many kinds of worms do you have?

Added to the red wiggler package are red wigglers. The mixed package contains a mix.

It has four trays that have just been delivered to me. I want to start with worms. How many should I get?

The amount I started with was Almost four years have passed since I installed this system The third tray has just been put on. I have been using it for about one and a half months. As a result, the number of worms increases rapidly. I wish you the best of Taking part in this is a lot of fun.

This is a reliable, though incommunicative, company
5/5

The original draft I had written was a 1-pager The worms I got arrived dead and moldy (white fuzzy growth). I was unable to give this product a 5-star rating. I am coming back to review that which has apparently been deleted (somewhat concerning), however I will be giving it a 5-out-of-10 I left a five-star review, since I received a replacement shipment with apparently all worms alive (I didn't see any dead ones, not that I looked too closely). My first shipment experience had been entered into an online feedback form rather than through Amazon, and I had contacted the company via their form to let them know about it (the only option I had through Amazon was a return request, which was a bit confusing in this case). After five days, a second shipment arrived, as described above, although I didn't get any kind of reply. Although Uncle Jim's doesn't do a good job at communication with their customers (apparently they don't at all), they at least stand by their products.

Money well spent on something so cruel and pointless
3/5

I received the box Before I opened it, I noticed that it had a bad smell (decomp). As described on the information sheet, there were 8 black bags containing tiny worms and a very small amount of dirt. I then added 1/2 cup of water according to the instruction sheet. It smelled so bad, that it made it There are no more living worms. They have all died and are I think that what is worse than the waste of my money is that you picked up a bunch of worms and put them into a bag so they would The cruelest and most disgusting treatment ever!.

Rather than buying from an online store, you should go to your local pet store
3/5

I'm not sure if I got love worms or not. Two days later, I filtered through the dirt painstakingly and realized there was none to be found. bought a container of red wiggles for $5 at Petsmart. In order to ship Amazon worms, they have to be dehydrated. I'm still not entirely convinced that once they are reconstituted like a sponge they will come to life. A second box would not have been worth the guarantee to me.

An infestation of mites exists Refunds are given
3/5

In a nutshell, The latest update The company offered me a refund and an apology thus I don't want to continue complaining since it is not everyone's It came with peat moss that was infested with mites, and I have not been able to reach any of the company's representatives by email or phone for three days. Although most worms fall to pieces after following instructions, some live on. The ones that were being devoured by the red mites (that were confirmed on the internet to be parasites of earthworms) I saved to the point where there were probably only half or less alive, and it took me several hours to clean the mites off.

The red wiggler is not the only one
5/5

As this is my first time buying worms online, I apologize if this review isn't as detailed as I would have liked. It was two separate orders that I bought. First I ordered one box, and then I realized I might need another the next day since I still couldn't fill my bin. 1 .
I was pleased with the packaging. The order arrived two days after it was Even though the orders came from two different dates, both came at the same time. This photo of the box does not match the box in real life. Each of the items came in its own separate black fabric bag inside a FedEx box with holes punched in it. In what appears to be coconut coir, the worms ensconced themselves. Additionally, the induction comes with a discount for your next purchase as well as an FAQ and a tip on how to most likely .
. The squirming and alive creatures were all gathered together *)
*3. It appeared to be the correct number of worms in the bag, so as far as I can tell, I wasn't cheated

4. There are now 100 counts of "MIXED" worms in this item. A box in the image depicts a red wiggler and says that they come from uncle Jim's worm farm, so I thought I would only get red wigglers. It appears that I mostly got blue worms, although I did get a few red ones. using composting worms, but for the climate I live in, and all my research, I would have preferred red wigglers. They seem to be more tolerant if you care for them appropriately. 3.

4. Some mites (red, white, brown ones) were found, but they were confined to a few spots. I wouldn't consider it a huge deal, but as a newbie, I'd prefer no mites because I don't know much about how to handle My overall satisfaction with the product is very high. They offered me a small discount for the confusion about the worms I bought (very nice of them) and links on how to control mites after I let them know through their website the type of worms I bought. Below is the response to the issue on the worm mix they responded to Perionyx Excavatus, also known as the Blue Worm, is one of the ingredients of our worm mix. As far as the mix and which worms dominate it in each batch is concerned, we cannot control that. Throughout the beds, there is a cluster of worms. It is sometimes more prevalent in animals of another kind. The rest of the time, I'm Having said that, I did not receive a bag of dead worms and customer service replied quickly. Just be aware that if you are looking for a specific kind of worm, this grab bag is not.

Infested with mites and dehydrated
3/5

The shipping was delayed due to a lot of storms moving through at the time I placed the order. My supply of the DOA items went bad after about the first week, so I sent an email requesting It took a week for the first bags to arrive. They were both DOA, so they sent another They responded very quickly, and I held off writing a bad review. In two days, my second bag arrived and only about 15 minutes later my third bag was on its way The viability of 20 of them was verified after rehydration. most serious problem was the apparently large infestation in the soil that I was unaware of as a result of my inattention. On the following evening we found a thick wiggling mat of tiny white mfs all over the place. We do not think it is worth buying unhealthy worms that are infested at such a price. Here is what I have a problem with the expectation that they will be "rehydrated. " There are no better conditions for worms than those bags. Coco coir is just about perfect for them if it is dark, damp, and muffled. As there are orders, they bag them in bulk and then ship them as needed, which is why they all arrive dehydrated. They should have wetted and bagged the worms the day they shipped them, so they should have a solid 4-day growth rate Having a good 5 days of.

You'd better believe it! They are alive! Due to my recent purchase of a vertical garden that composts, I am beginning my composting project
5/5

Composting is a big part of my life, so I bought worms to help out. There was some dried peat in the package. Although they look somewhat scrawny, they will turn into vibrant plants in a couple of days. You can contact the company if it's not done by the company. The spiders were pretty active in the garden when I put them out. I think that's a positive Unlike the picture on the website, the items come in a black bag instead of a box. As a result of the black bag, they won't suffocate because more air can get through to keep them breathing.
