These are very good mature worms. They are not little baby worms. I just received them yesterday, and they appear healthy.
We buy extra mealworms in the fall, of various sizes (ages) to feed our bearded dragon. In New England, it's hard to get mealworms delivered alive in the winter months, even by the post office (this is an option when temperatures are close to freezing). Our winter survival strategy relies on feeding them, which is an easy task during the winter. When our dragon is going through shedding, he loves beetles, which change into beetles when he isn't.

In receiving my package this morning, I was totally disappointed to find the worms alive after opening, but to my surprise, the quantity I ordered was not in my order. My order was 1000 worms and I got 387, and yes, I did count them right away since when I opened the box and bag and poured them out I noticed right away that there were no where near 1000 worms and they are small and not very big at all.
At least half of these worms should die before the lizard can eat them, so I buy 7 meal worms at a time. My first purchase of worms happened in March of 2018 and I expected they would die before the lizard ate It was an enjoyable experience (after they had warmed) and they were They are always taken by the gecko as soon as they see them. While I did purchase worm food and keep the worms in a refrigerator container, I did not buy worm food for the worms. I couldn't believe how long these worms lasted! It's been a few days since I last ordered this. Over 6 months were lived by those little worms! They came packaged in a canvas bag that was tied together with a string. Some of them died in that period, as I could completely assume, but for the majority to be still alive is incredible! They come packaged with an explanation as well as a link to their website. The shipping box was not tampered with. My sincere thanks go to the company for making our transition into a reptile household much better than I could have imagined.
Their delivery was on schedule and they arrived in an egg crate with a burlap sack. In the end, it was easier to move them into a plastic container. These geckos are exactly 1 inch or bigger as described, and they were all alive when they arrived. My leopard geckos are very happy.
The 1000 live mealworms from Bassett cricket ranch have served me well for quite a few years now, and I have never had a bad experience with them. If you store them in the fridge for several months, you must remove their poo at the bottom, shake it with a colander to remove the poop, and then replenish it with wheat germ and insect gut loader. Based on my experience, I found On Friday, March 20, as requested, I received them. I ordered them on March 16th, and they arrived on Friday, March 20th. There's no way that I could have done that! Earlier this week, I ordered Dubai roaches, and some food for them both thus, the roaches turned up Thursday, and the food will arrive this Wednesday, so I assumed they would be delivered with it? Nevertheless, it was 32 degrees for two days and nights for all the worms. Due to my lack of knowledge, it is Fahrenheit. (Sunday, 22nd) I spray the box with rubbing alcohol (covidi- thaw out naturally. In the morning, I opened up a small box with dread and undid the twist-ties on the top of the bag, only to have my heart race at the sight of all the creepy, squirmy little creatures.
It was impossible to find a dead worm. It was evident that all 1,000 were in excellent health and were very energetic. PetSmart and Petco are way better than pet stores. While I have been able to buy live feeder worms for my chameleons from the big box stores, my experience has not been that great. It seems that the mealworms I have purchased from Basstett's Cricket Ranch are really popular with them. The crickets might be worth trying next time. I will be posting a review of the crickets also. am second-guessing my decision to try Mealworm farming because I love birds so much. The unpacking took quite some time, and I had to prepare their home to be in before they moved in. After I realized they had a rather long journey to arrive here, I tried to get them in a comfortable place as soon as possible and immediately took care of providing carrots for them. My ability to touch one of them is far beyond what I am capable of, so I had to wear gloves. It soon became evident that I needed to order a pair of long tweezers or some type of implement to pick them up by hand. It's great to see them doing well. I put their second batch of carrots in today and took out the leftover carrot pieces and are happy to say they are still alive. I have only so many pairs of big girl pants to put on when opening their container, so I'm sure it will get easier in time. Birds in general, bluebirds in particular, are my favorite creatures, and the desire to keep them in the yard exceeds the panic of having to raise The Mealworms will be no match for me and I can do anything I set my mind to. It is great that the worms arrived on time and that all the thousands of them are thriving The health of the business is excellent and I truly believe there are over a thousand employers out there.
We found all the worms to be healthy and active when we arrived at our lab. All of them were alive and well - this is awesome. It's a guarantee that Petsmart cups have 20% dead worms in them. It would be very helpful for me to measure whether they sent me 1000 worms or not. After learning that mealworms only weigh about 1g, I compared the volume of them to other fruits and vegetables. Counting each of the mealworms that were in the cup labeled "200" I discovered it contained 200 mealworms. You definitely get at least 1,000 mealworms per order, as you can see in the picture.
