Questions & Answers

What security features are available? Is there a lock so I don't have to keep pressing the button to keep it running?

Assuring Maida's accuracy while denying Philip's. While it's usually necessary to keep your finger on the trigger to keep it running, if you pull the lock button all the way back while it's running, it will remain locked. It could be argued that this is "riskier" - Any way you look at it, power tools are dangerous. Other "safer" models only cut 1/2" or 5/8" branches, while this one (allegedly) cuts 3/4". This increases the chances of severing a human digit by accident. So it's a choice between a safe tool and one that accomplishes the task at hand.

Is there a motor brake included with this? IOW - Do the blades come to a halt as soon as you let go of the trigger?

I'm not sure if this is a motor brake, but when the trigger is released, the blades come to a complete stop.

AMp?

The rating for this model is 3. The motor is 3 amps.

Although competent, he is not a miracle worker
4/5

This is the first time I've used an electric hedge trimmer. It beats using a manual clipper by a long shot, but I wish it could handle thicker branches a little better. My front-yard hedge was about fifteen feet long, six feet tall, and three to four feet wide before I used the hedge trimmer to cut a couple feet off the top. Here are some of the features of the Black and Decker trimmer that I like. The twenty-first is one of my favorites. You wouldn't buy a shorter blade than a four-inch cutting blade because you can cover a lot of ground quickly. The unit is small and light, with a comfortable handle that rotates for vertical and horizontal cuts; the fact that it is electric is probably a plus rather than a minus. Batteries are costly, short-lived, and frequently under-powered. powered. However, I did manage to pull the cord loose a couple of times, which took some getting used to. My main gripe is that it struggles to keep up with branches that are half an inch in diameter or larger. Slowing down and letting the trimmer handle the heavy lifting didn't always work out. On the thicker branches, the trimmer would become clogged, and you'd have to pull it free and attack the branches from a different angle. I oiled the blade, but it didn't help it cut through the thicker branches any better. I had hoped that the trimmer would be more capable of handling half-inch branches. Although the motor warmed up a little, there was no sign of overheating. heating. Overall, I like the trimmer, but it isn't the miracle worker I had hoped for.

Simply poke a hole in the center of a quart of your preferred motor oil
5/5

I recently purchased a home with shrubs, hedges, cedars, and bushes that had never been pruned or trimmed in the previous eight years! What an overgrown abomination. This HH2455 effortlessly annihilated this overgrown nightmare. This trimmer can handle branches as thick as 1/2 inch. The blades must be oiled on a regular basis. After an hour of nonstop cutting, you'll need to oil the blades if you're trimming large diameter vegetation. Simply take a quart of your preferred motor oil and pierce a hole in the center of the bottle's cap. You're oiled in a flash. It's the same as smearing mustard on your favorite hot dog. br>This trimmer is an absolute beast.

1. Like the old 2450, this trimmer is excellent. As if it were butter, it slices and dices! Warning - It works so well that during one of my ground sweeps, I cut the electric cord by accident and didn't realize it until it abruptly stopped. I was under the impression that the electric cord had come undone. I'm not sure if it's because I'm engaged or because I threw a curve ball.
Nope! It was the cord, as it had been the first time I used the old 2450!

At the age of five years, it was time to replace it
3/5

I finally got it right about five years ago, after replacing a trimmer I'd been using for the previous twelve years. As a result, I expected it to be a long-lasting and dependable tool. However, after five years, it's time to retire this device and replace it with something new. br>br>In other words, about $70 for five years of use. That's only $14 per year, so it's not too bad, right? So, a tool should, in my opinion, last at least five years. My hedges are trimmed twice a year, and they aren't anything special; they are just regular, domestic hedges. br>br>This device is still functional, but it smells like it's burning or melting. And it's making this terrifying noise, like a motor that's overheating, or parts that aren't meshing properly, or things that are about to fail. Something is wrong inside, and it'll only be a matter of time before it dies or explodes in my hands. To be honest, I don't believe it is dangerous, but it is no longer functional. br>br>To summarize, this was a serviceable item that delivered on its promises in a reasonable amount of time. Maybe I'm wrong, but after only five years of moderate domestic use, I shouldn't need to replace this. I'm in the market for a new one, and like TroyBilt after my purchase of their total POS string trimmer, Black and Decker has a good one. Decker is not a candidate for the job.
