Questions & Answers

The dcb107 dewalt 20v batteries that came with my drill are still in good condition. Will these work in this trimmer without causing it to lose power?

Yes, they are going to work. The advantage of lithium ion batteries is that they provide full power even when there is only a small amount of battery life remaining. They simply will not last as long as the 5ah included with the trimmer.

Is there a battery charger included in the package?

If you order one with a battery, you will also receive a charger.

If you choose the battery, does it come with a 20V Max battery?

Yes, if you buy a trimmer that comes with a battery. I went ahead and bought a second 20 volt max 5ah battery as a backup in case the first one didn't last long enough for a single trimming of my shrubs, but it turns out that one battery is sufficient for all of my trimming. This trimmer is one of the best purchases I've ever made. I have no qualms.

Is it possible to charge these 20v 5ah hedge trimmer batteries with my Black and Decker battery charger?

All batteries are only compatible with the brands that they were designed to work with.

However, I had to stop working
4/5

Last year, after cutting through the power cord of my old trimmer for the umpteenth time, I purchased this and used it throughout the season, and I was extremely pleased - I wish I had gotten one a long time ago. I decided to tackle some dormant brush in the back forty on the first warm day of the year before it got completely out of hand, but the trimmer just quit after about ten minutes. I charged the battery, but it still didn't work. Taking a closer look at the issue revealed the following: One of the motor's wires had gotten tangled up. I believe it came off because the motor is not securely held in the housing and twists slightly when it starts and stops. It's possible that this is a one-time opportunity. I'm having a minor issue with mine, but I thought I'd share in case anyone else has the same issue. br>br>I'm only deducting one star because it was a simple fix, and I appreciated how simple it was to access the internal components (all it took was a few T20 screws).

Dewalt is deceiving its customers by failing to include a plastic scabbard (sleeve) with the tool
5/5

The tool is fantastic. It performs admirably. It usually gets a five-star rating, but it doesn't this time. Because of the following reasons: By failing to provide the plastic scabbard (protective sleeve) that is supposed to come with this unit, DEWALT is deceiving its customers and putting their safety at risk. On pages 9, 11, 24, and 26 of the product manual, the scabbard is described and illustrated! Dewalt, on the other hand, is unjustly enriching itself at your expense by refusing to supply this $10 part. br>br>And, based on product questions, this has been going on since 2019! This is completely unacceptable to me as a quality auditor. br>br> This is a razor-sharp hedge trimmer with a 22-inch cutting blade, and the scabbard protects you from being cut while handling and storing it. DEWALT has stopped supplying this part, which is absurd. br>br>Other similar products, such as battery-powered chainsaws, pole saws, and the like, come with a similar scabbard to prevent consumer injury and reduce the manufacturer's risk of lawsuits. DEWALT appears to be unconcerned about your safety as a customer! br>br>And it would be as simple as putting this unit on a shelf, then having it hit you in the face when you pull it down from the shelf later. If it's that simple, you'll definitely need stitches. Assume that the following scenario occurs. Consumer protection is critical. br>br> When a customer calls in to ask, "Where is my scabbard?" as many have, it should not be handled on an "as needed" basis. DEWALT should be ashamed of themselves. br>br>NOTE: THIS PAGE HAS BEEN UPDATED. 06- After writing this review, I contacted Dewalt to inform them that the black plastic scabbard mentioned on page r of the manual was missing from the box, and that this appears to be a two-year-old issue. I explained that the blades aren't just sharp; they're extremely sharp, and that this omission was an unacceptable safety issue, as well as a major liability issue for Dewalt. Simply reaching up to an upper shelf to get something would result in a painful injury to any part of your head or arm. As an ISO Quality Auditor, I informed them that I wanted to submit a complaint to the quality team for review. Fortunately, I got a super nice rep who looked up the part number and ordered a scabbard for me at no cost. It took 3 or 4 weeks to get here from Chiha because of COVID, but it fits perfectly. In case you need to transport this Trimmer in your car, it also protects all those very sharp teeth. br>br>Many thanks to the Dewalt parts department. PN 90629314, a "Blade Sheath," is the item if you didn't get yours. I'm hoping Dewalt will have the foresight to include this blade sheath with all new trimmers, but I'm sure there are thousands out there who don't have one. br>br>I've changed my rating to a five-star rating. This trimmer has a well-designed design.

Is This The Ideal Complement To My DEWALT 20V Power Tools? No, not at all
4/5

My DEWALT 20V battery-powered tools have performed admirably for me. Especially the Reciprocating Saw, which is still going strong after three years of use, despite the fact that I use it to trim our mangroves and cut down invasive Brazilian Pepper trees. Simply take advantage of the 12-hour clock. inch Bosch 5 TPI Wood Cutting Reciprocating Saw Blades and tackling 10-inch Bosch 5 TPI Wood Cutting Reciprocating Saw Blades It is almost effortless to inch limbs/trunks. The job is made easier by the excellent balance, efficient blades, and reliable power provided by the 20V batteries. With my Stihl gasoline-powered hedge trimmer becoming too heavy and my electric-powered Black Decker trimmer nearing the end of its life, I ordered this DEWALT 22-inch hedge trimmer, hoping for the best. I eagerly put my inch hedge trimmer to the test. Darn! I anticipated a similar performance from their hedge trimmer based on the power delivered by my sawzall. Unfortunately, it appeared to operate at a much slower rate, most likely due to the 22-inch screen size. Moving a 12-inch blade must take more energy than moving a 12-inch blade. The reciprocating saw has a 12-inch blade. br>br>It's small and light, with excellent ergonomics and balance, but it lacks the cutting power I expected. The blades are sharp, but it takes more effort because the hedges I'm trimming require more than one pass to complete. When compared to gasoline and corded trimmers, this effectively doubles my workload. The battery-powered unit's lighter weight helps, but having to do it twice is still inconvenient. br>br>I'm interested in trying out a 40v unit to see if doubling the battery capacity (but increasing the weight) will provide the cutting benefits I'm looking for. Keeping my tools in the 20V range isn't going to cut it. Good try, DEWALT, but this doesn't appear to be enough power for the job.

There is no sheath included
3/5

DeWalt has let me down by removing an important safety feature such as the sheath from the package. According to all accounts, it was made of low-cost plastic, but it served as an important safety device to protect both people and blades. br>I've been a DeWalt user for a long time and own a number of their products. I had hoped for high-quality products from them, and I was not disappointed. This, on the other hand, is a complete no-no. br>And shame on CPO Outlets for failing to mention that the sheath isn't included (despite the fact that the page says "by DeWalt"). Because I purchased the bare tool, I didn't expect (or require) the battery and charger, as this Amazon page correctly states. However, it makes no mention of the lack of a basic safety item such as a sheath. br>It's possible that CPO Outlets and Amazon are unaware that DeWalt is omitting the sheath because Amazon is typically a more astute marketer. They're squandering a fantastic opportunity to advance their careers. When I ordered the trimmer, I suggested that customers buy the sheath to generate additional revenue. However, I am unable to locate this item on Amazon. br>And what about the trimmer? It's decent, to be sure. There aren't any serious issues. It's not too heavy for my wife. br>Should I return it and purchase something from Home Depot instead?.
