The only thing you need to watch for is flare ups since they will reduce recurrence These planks provide you with a lot of usefulness. 12" x 6" x 7/16" are the dimensions. The size we selected was the best one after testing several other sizes. With a diameter of 6", it fits easily into a standard 13" nonstick dish for soaking. It also fits wider cuts of meat with its width of 13". Unlike thin planks, this grilling plank is 7/16 thick so that you can get it very hot to create tons of flavor without compromising its ability to be used repeatedly.

My meal last night was a 1 pound slab of salmon. I estimate that this size board would provide a good amount of room for 1 - 2 people The fish weighed half a pound. Then I used it on a Weber charcoal grill (lit by gas) after soaking it for two hours. I tried the indirect method (coals on either side of the board) for this attempt. In order to sterilize the board surface prior to contacting the fish, I heated the board upside down first. The grill temperature was about 400 degrees and it was cooked for 15 minutes with the lid closed. With indirect heat, only a little searing took place on the underside of the board. I will set the coals closer next time, therefore you can much more easily use the board on a dish as a serving board. Thanks for your quick delivery of my order, it arrived on Saturday. The product was exactly what was expected, and it came in a good package. How would I go about cutting, ripping, and sawing my own western red cedar stock, then sanding it myself? Well, sure, but no sense in that. It is because of these reasons. APRIL uses virgin clear cedar boards in 1/2" thickness (which is about right for planking) then they sand it very smooth, pack it in a burlap bag with instructions and a recipe. I calculated the time it takes to build a barn using this method. I had to buy the material to do it myself, and it wasn't worth the trouble. On top of that, you get five planks and I have just caught my third fish on the first one. It is a small company that deserves support. The flavor from cedar planking is unique, I have always used alder or fruit woods for salmon before, thinking even non atomic cedar would create a perfumey smoke and taste. But I was wrong. This company is worth supporting. You might even be able to do a mackerel on these and get a good result. You can eat the plank and throw away the mackerel. Please do not eat the planks. The first time I used cedar planks for grilling was this weekend. It was both the size and packaging that attracted me to these, along with my desire to try the recipe. While we were at work, we left the planks soaking in the sink, so when we got home they were ready for the last step. I found the recipe to be superb, and all the instructions were very clear. On the grill, the planks worked like a charm and gave off a wonderful woodsy aroma! Having used the same two twice now, they are in need of replacement since they are blackened enough that I think we should discard them. As well as the handy storage bag, I appreciate it! I would highly recommend these planks and will order from them again in the future.
However, even if I haven't had a chance to use them yet, they seem to be a lot better than other cedar planks It was so nice that they were packaged in a bag. As well as having a stronger scent than other cedar planks I have purchased, they also appear to breathe better. The next time I use them I'll write a new review. I am following up on the review we conducted previously. Some of the cedar planks I used were from Primal Grilling and some others were from other sources. The other cedar planks were much thinner, started to bow, and caught on fire fairly quickly. The ones I soaked for about 24 hours were considerably thicker and stayed wet for a lot longer. Moreover, I noticed the food cooked on the Primal Cedar Planks had more of the cedar flavor and tasted better than that cooked in the same manner on wood planks. The Primal Grilling Cedar Planks will definitely be on my shopping list If you want to buy cedar planks, avoid the thinner ones that are cheaper.
