This isn't made of 304 stainless steel. Because of the wire diameters used, 6mm and 8mm around the outside, this is a type of Chinese stainless steel. 304 stainless steel is completely non-corrosive. The material itself would be much more expensive if it were magnetic and corrosion resistant. This has a small amount of magnetism, so it's a type of stainless steel. And, because of the heavy-duty construction, I'm not going to return it and risk the stainless from corroding too badly.
According to the seller, the ratio is 17/32. Which is approximately 1/2 to 9/16 of an inch.
The outside diameter is exactly 17 inches. My Weber gas grill is equipped with it. It's a lot easier to move food around with this. Cleaning is also a breeze.
Due to the thickness of the stainless steel bars, I believe it to be a charcoal grate. On my gas stovetop, which has a 23K BTU burner, I use it to roast peppers and other similar items. The bars glow red but do not deform even when exposed to extreme heat. If you're doing regular grilling, you might find the bars to be a little too far apart. On mine, the bars are. 24" in diameter and evenly spaced. (.50" apart) 75" from one end to the other.

It fits perfectly on the top of the stove when set up to hold a pot and nests perfectly when the top is closed up for storage when I use it as a grate for my solo stove campfire.
On top of the starter chimney, it's a perfect fit. VERY heavy-duty, holds up well to heat, and can be scrubbed with a Brillo pad because it isn't just chrome-plated. This grill is ideal for just one person.
Weber's shoddy stock grates, which rust and/or warp far too quickly, are being replaced with long-lasting grill grates. And it seems irresponsible to throw large hunks of rusted metal out with the trash every season or two. br>br>I'll be honest, the price of this onlyfire 17" charcoal grill grate made me think twice about ordering it for my Weber Performer grill. But even before I opened the box when it arrived, I knew I'd made the right decision. That's because just looking at the size of the box revealed that it was going to be a massive piece of stainless steel. And once unpacked, it didn't let me down. "Can you believe how beautiful this is?" I exclaimed as I dashed over to my wife with the grate. " She looked at me and said, " "I'm glad you're happy," I said as I rolled. "br>br>With thick bars of solid stainless steel (zero magnetism when tested) and heavy duty welds, it's difficult to imagine a higher quality build for this grate. In my Performer grill, it perfectly replaces the 17" Weber charcoal grate. And I'm confident that this will be the last charcoal grill grate I ever need to purchase. What's my only gripe? Onlyfire should make a stainless steel 22" replacement cooking grate! Price recommendation: br>br> I got mine for a cheaper price from Amazon Warehouse, and I recommend you do the same if you can. Because the grate is virtually bulletproof, the only damage you'll likely see is in the packaging. However, if it is not available through the Warehouse, it is well worth the regular price! Thank you for taking the time to read my review; I hope it was useful in making your purchase decision.
My Kamado grill came with a heavy cast iron coal grate that would undoubtedly last a long time, but I decided to upgrade it to this style for cleaning ease, as the ashes would easily fall through the wire mesh. In comparison to cast iron grates with a slew of small holes, this grate allows for better air flow. Before deciding on this wire grate, I looked at a few others. Thinner wires were used in all of the ones I looked into. Unfortunately, most descriptions, including this one, do not include wire diameters. After sending emails to a few vendors and learning that this seller's grate was made of 1/4" wires, vs. 1/8" wires, I decided to go with the 1/4" wires. 5mm (. I decided to give it a shot because others seem to like it. I checked the wire diameters after receiving the grate and was pleasantly surprised to find that the main round ring was actually thicker than 1/4" and the rest of the construction was made up of 1/4" rods. I measured a few rods and found that they were closer to 6mm (. The ring was closer to 8mm (. 236) and the size was smaller (. I've used the grill a few times now and haven't noticed any warping or deformities on the grate, even when it's loaded with hot coals. To clean up, I simply pile all of the used coals in the center and let the ashes fall through. I'm confident that this grate will last for a long time if the spot welds on the rods hold up.
As a grill directly over a campfire, with my hobo stove, or for whacking raccoons, it's VERY heavy duty and versatile. I'm pretty sure this will fit in the bottom of my Weber Smokey Joe, but I haven't double-checked. But it's really nice!.
Item arrived ahead of schedule and in excellent condition. I would strongly suggest it.

It's thick, heavy, and extremely durable, which I like. I needed to smoke 7 pounds of beef briscuit, and a flimsy cupcake rack would have bowed under the weight. I was worried it wouldn't fit in my wok because it wasn't wide enough, but once I laid down the aluminum foil in my wok, it fit perfectly above the smoked wood chips and came through like a champ--cleaning up was a breeze. There are no stains or discolorations on this item, and it appears to be eager to be used again. I looked for a heavy, sturdy rack like this for quite some time. I strongly advise you to do so. The price was reasonable, and the delivery was prompt.
