Questions & Answers

Will this work with the smarthings hub or the bhyve timer with 12 stations?

With a 12-station timer, I was able to make this work. Connect the smart hose faucet timer to your 12 station Bhyve timer group using the app, and then add it to the device settings.

Is it possible to program the valve to turn on at specific times throughout the day, then go on vacation and have it continue to run while I'm gone, or do I need the wifi adapter?

It will continue to function while you are away, but you will be unable to communicate with it. If you use the WiFi adapter, you can use the app from anywhere. You could set it up using only Bluetooth, but once you're far away, it'll be on its own. It would also be unaware of the weather if it did not have access to the internet. If you set it up (which is very simple), it will monitor weather forecasts and go into "rain delay," which means it will not water if it rains. It's a fantastic system with an intuitive interface. When I'm traveling, I notice it turning on and off, as well as rain delays. I can also turn it on/off and reset the schedule from anywhere.

What is the highest water pressure this valve can withstand in PSI?

The recommended maximum pressure is around 60 psi, based on the garden hose connection. Every time I turn on my 60 psi water supply, it hammers. I wish it could open and close with a softer sound.

Is there a way to connect this to a metric fitting/faucet/tap with an adapter?

If you can find an adapter for it, it's a standard US hose connection.

The system is ruined by the app
3/5

The device appears to function properly, but the app, as others have stated, is terrible. I read the reviews before purchasing and thought to myself, "How bad could it be?" Well, now that I've finally figured it out, the app feels like it was outsourced to the lowest bidder to a company that has no idea what a watering system is supposed to do. They should scrap the app and start from scratch, in my opinion. br>br>Some may think that one star is too harsh, but with a device like this, where the app controls everything, the app is a MAJOR part of the system. I purchased a B-. hyves to give me more control over the timers I already have. br>br>Orbit,br>br>Why do you have to choose a zone when each timer is its own zone, it's confusing and pointless. br>Why do you have to pick a zone that doesn't apply to this watering system to choose the time duration? br>Why is there no indication at the top of the home page where you can choose between the timers? This only adds to the confusion. br>Why can't you make each program have as many start times as possible? It's pointless for me to keep adding programs in order to add timers. In my neighborhood, I'd like to be able to water as often as I'd like for as long as I'd like. THIS IS WHY I PURCHASED THE SYSTEM! For the love of God, there should be no limitations in an app. br>Why isn't there a simple manual watering control? Sometimes you just need to water a little more. This simple function is easily performed by all of your other timers. However, with this system, I had to go through a convoluted menu system to force it to turn on by testing it or changing the program and then changing it back. Okay, I see you can water by pressing the icon at the bottom, and it appears that randomly stabbing at the app is the best way to figure it out. br>br>This app has the potential to be SO MUCH MORE. The device is nothing more than a valve with a bluetooth send/receive; a large portion of what we are paying for is the app to CONTROL the device. br>br>A simple timer can do what this does much more easily and for half the price; until the app is improved, I don't see any benefit to this system. br>br>UPDATE: br>br> One of the timers began to fail, and the valve opened and refused to close. I tried turning it on and off with the app, but it would not turn off. For the most part, the app appears to be functioning properly; it would attempt to turn off the timer and you could hear the "click," but it remained on. When I received the timer, I could tell it had been previously owned; I believe it was returned to Amazon and placed back on the shelf.

The app was not created with the Faucet in mind! So, here's the skinny on the app
3/5

It was built for regular sprinkler systems and kluged to work with faucets, not for the faucet timer. As a result, each faucet functions as a system with its own zone and schedule. The app becomes extremely perplexing as a result of this. I spoke with Orbit tech support, who was extremely helpful but confirmed the app's flaws. These can't be used to create a'system. ' You can't add a device to a zone because they each have their own zone and schedule, and the schedules aren't linked or communicated with one another. br>br>At the moment, I have five of them, each with its own schedule and zone. There is no common schedule screen, so I have to switch to each faucet and program it as its own device. There is no reference to the other devices on the system until you switch to that device. Because I don't have enough water pressure to run more than one impact sprinkler at a time, I ran schedule 40 around the perimeter of my back yard, tee'd off the main, and ran a short riser hose to the impact sprinklers. br>br>If you want to turn off your'system,' you must go to each device and disable its schedule. br>br>Other significant flaws in the app include the lack of a manual off button. You must return to the manual screen and count down the time. That is a genuine "what the hell" moment. br>br>Pairing can be difficult. Only two of the five units paired the first time, so I had to exit the program, deactivate the faucet, and re-pair and set up three of them. The WiFi had to be reconfigured on a regular basis as well. These devices are NOT WiFi; the hub is WiFi so you can program them without having to be near them, but they create a blue tooth daisy chain network so they can be far away from the hub but only via blue tooth. The device communicates with your router via WiFi and with your faucets via Bluetooth. So the box's claim that these are Wifi capable with a hub is false; these devices never have a wifi connection. br>br>I've often been stuck in setup screens where the next button doesn't work and there's no way out. Exit the app once more and begin the process from the beginning. br>br>The app is attractive, and the ability to photograph the Faucet/Zone is useful, but you must photograph both. Because the image for the Faucet/device does not transfer to the zone, it's easy to become disoriented and spread confusion. br>br>I gave it two stars because they answered the phone once I dialed the correct number, and the man on the other end of the line sounded just like me, frustrated and tired of explaining everything. br>br>In the box, there is a reminder to call this number before returning it. Ahh - That is a hint! However, that number has a recording that, in essence, says to go to the website, thank you, and goodbye after all the pleasantries. br>br>There is no use case support documentation, which means we're on our own as we try to build systems out of these faucets, and the documents don't address our concerns.

If you have patience, it will work
4/5

I bought a few of these and they've helped me work around my apartment's faulty underground sprinkler system.

The website is 100% broken
The website is 100% broken
The website is 10 It shows some configuration and status information about your active timers, but it always says "You timer is currently set to OFF," and I have no way of changing it. br>br>Although the Android app is difficult to use, it does work. The most difficult aspect of managing multiple timers for me is the inconvenient nature of it. Because the water pressure at my hose spigots is so low, I stagger my timer schedules, but because the app treats each timer as completely independent, the "schedule" tab only shows the active timer's schedule. In my head, I need to keep track of the planned schedule. The Android app has never crashed on me, and the timers have never failed to go off on time, despite the app's poor user interface.
